Review Pigalle Restaurant - Cape Town Central

Malcolm Freeman
Stunning resturant with great food. So much bigger than you expect. The live music and dance floor are great. The sound overall is a little too loud and makes conversation at dinner difficult. Great seafood prepared well. Prices are on the higher side but it is ideal for a fancy meal or to celebrate an occasion.
Essop Rahiman
One of the most sought after restaurants in Cape Town. Lovely food, prepared to your liking, great atmosphere with live a band playing some awesome classics. Staff makes you feel welcome and at ease. An over great experience.

What an amazing evening spent at Pigalle Restaurant. It was my birthday and I couldn't have spent it at a better place Great dinner and dance. Enjoyed every minute of my time spent here. DJ Brandon Leigh from KFM made it even more memorable 🙌

A few months ago, I missed my chance to visit Pigalle, but now when I visited Cape Town, my best friend made reservations for us, and well, I wasn't disappointed. The atmosphere, service, food, and ambiance are excellent. We opted for the 3 course meal menu instead of a la Carte menu. It was a great choice. The live music is an added benefit, perfect for dress up and date nights.

What an amazing experience. Wow, I really loved my time there. The food was amazing and very friendly staff. Well done.

Wow, wow, wow, my kids took me there for my 60th birthday and I was quite impressed. The food, the service, the atmosphere was just amazing. They will definitely see me again. Loved every minute of it❀

The best dine and dance place every. It's classy and simply the best. The food is so yummy... Love it, love it, love it. The band and DJ - just wow!!

Had our year end function here. Food and ambiance was great, but the jazz band was outstanding! The lead singer sang Sade like no one else I’ve heard. What an amazing voice! Highly recommended

Great place for any event or even date night... Service and food is good. I attended a event there not sure how the vibe would be for couples night though....
Aisha Avar
Fancy expensive place. I liked the food. Live music. Good location.

This is a fine dining experience with a live band. We had a three course meal; three options in each category. I had the butternut soup, lamb shank and chocolate fondant. Excellent!

Attended a 70th birthday party and we had a lovely evening celebrating. The service was slightly disappointing. Our waiter had certain table members wait for food, dessert and drinks. Including myself. In my case my dessert never arrived and I had to constantly reach out to different waiters passing by, asking about my dessert. The men at my table got their dessert before me and then the ladies and then I waited and waited. Everyone was long done before my malva pudding eventually arrived. It was delicious tho but I would say that having a party function can be very disjointed. Especially when there is alot of invited guests. A small group will do, but it is a bit too hectic and chaotic when it comes to bigger groups as there were many other big groups as well who had parties. There is really no space to socialize and chat with other tables as the space is very limited. We tried to catch up with family members, which we never saw for a while, but it was hard. Overall the restaurant is a lovely venue for a romantic dinner and small group get togethers. The band was very entertaining and did a good job.

We celebrated my mommy's 60th here. Overall everything was so lovely, we had a great time on the dance floor with the live band and singer. The food was delicious however they didn't bring the mushroom sauce for the sirloin until the sirloin was almost done. The waiters were lovely but could have been a bit more attentive at times.
Devan Pulliah
Wow...if I could give this venue 10 stars I would...this restaurant is more than an eatery...it's everything you need in one place & quite unique in South Africa if not Africa on the whole...the parking is great...this is dining out on a grand scale...the venue is large & bold...the booths are comfortable & Cosy...the reception is friendly & service is excellent...the food is excellent...the best part for me is the live entertainment...the band is excellent & we all danced to familiar tunes...what an experience...we choose the set menu for R450 which was a choice of starters, mains & desert...

We Love the 3 course set menu specials and the food is always amazing and the service is top notch. The decor is a Touch outdated and maybe needs some new inspiration - but if to ignore this you won’t find calamari mussels and prawns and creme brĂ»lĂ©e- within a white table cloth setting at this price anywhere else in Cape Town And I really love the live music every night. I eat here several times per year and am never disappointed.

Great entertainment, great service and great food. Loved every moment of it. This would've been a five star rating, however I was greatly disappointed that their generator ran out of diesel during my supper. During the period of no electricity nothing worked (E.g. Coffee machine was off, couldn't pay for bill, no music, etc.) and although I am aware loadshedding is financially straining on business, one would at least expect certain things to work for a top notch restaurant like this.

Live music, and then DJ. Very good atmosthere and nice food! We were with 70 people and it was really fast service.
Naailah Albertyn
Excellence at its best, I'll definitely recommend pigalle to anyone, the romantic setting and live jazz band was amazing, not too forget the food was beyond excellent and staff so professional and on point. My first time there it was surely an amazing evening.
Samantha Wareley Arnold
The atmosphere is amazing. One feels at home from the moment you step in!! The band adds that awesomeness and the food is excellent!! Not forgetting the staff, top class ïżœLove this place!!!
Roxanne Reddy
Definitely the best restaurant in South Africa in my opinion. The attention to detail, large dangling chandeliers and excellent service from all the staff makes for an amazing dining experience. Bonus is we had live jazz music and were able to dance... such a romantic atmosphere.
Patrick Adams
Awsome place. Romantic setting. Excellent food. What more could be asked ? And the music is just the cherry ontop. Top class place. Definitely going again!

Consistent amazing quality delicious food, reasonably priced. Fantastic chef. Romantic dinner -dance experience with great music. Manager and staff attentive and knowledgable with great wines - and the paintings on the walls......we go whenever we can! Anniversaries, birthdays, any reason!!!

One of the best places I have been to. The food, the staff, the service, the music. We laughed, we ate, we watched people dance. Such a wonderful evening. 100% will return xx

Celestina Fourie
Thank you to the amazing staff at Pigalle, I celebrated my 60 th birthday and the food service was perfect. Thank you for making the evening so so special. Celeste
Pedro Van Soest
Once again the food and service was excellent. The live music was enjoyable. However, I found it strange that I couldn't get a reservation for 8PM with all the empty tables. Had to settle for 9PM.
Adrian Wevers
Last night we celebrated our 5th anniversary at Pigalle. Thank you for your warm welcome from your amazing staff. And a particular big thank you to our waiter Alex for making us feel at home and special. 🌟 🌟 đŸ’«

We found this place by accident. All regular diners and also working in the restaurant industry. It was 5 star; food, service and sophisticated music.

I dont know how i should start.. the restaurant manager is a true gentleman. He helped us through out our visit.. he accommodated us in a very friendly way.. helped us in our order..<br/>Sea food is exceptional.. its a must try with no doubt..

Arguably the best restaurant I have experienced in Cape Town in the last 20-25 years. Keep on coming back. Great range to choose from the menu. Attentive but discreet service. Great live jazz. For the first-timer - finding the entrance to the parking (at the rear of the restaurant) may present a challenge

Well-known as the perfect venue for a stylish evening out, we offer guests live entertainment from our dance floor alongside superb dinner courses. Renowned for our fresh seafood and Chalmar steak, our menu comprises of classic dishes with a subtle Portuguese flair. Including a spacious cigar lounge and private dining room our venue is versatile as well as suitable for private functions

Had a lovely evening at Pigalle for my sisters birthday, I decided to go for the set 2 course meal. I chose the calamari started, it was delicious and for my main course I went with the teriyaki salmon. Food was delicious! Great atmosphere with the band playing. Only thing that was a bit of a let down was our waitress, she was a bit scatterbrained.
Natasha
Love this restaurant. Serves consistently good food, the steak is amazing and the pear salad on point! Beautiful setting, Saturday’s are lovely as one can dance the night away to the sounds of a live band. Try it!

Was a gorgeous day in Cape Town, my calendar was not busy and thus my colleague and I decided to embrace this unusually free day with a midweek lunch at Pigalle. <br/><br/>Scanning through their seasonal special menu, we immediately knew that we wanted to share the seafood of platter. <br/><br/>Linefish, crayfish, mussels, calamari and prawns served with two sides either veg, rice or chips and 2 sauces ie garlic butter sauce and lemon butter sauce. <br/><br/>This was such a great platter! And so much food, we actually couldn’t finish it. The veg was surprisingly really good - with an Asian twist to it. The prawns and crayfish were huge! Both really very yummy. <br/><br/>I was however not a fan of the sauce, nor the sauce the mussels came in and cooked into the crayfish. Would’ve preferred the calamari fried, it was a tad chewy grilled. <br/><br/>But that complimentary chili sauce on the table is absolute life!!<br/><br/>The restaurant was unusually empty, but service was impeccable. This definitely looks like more of a classy but fun evening spot, with a full band on stage setup and dance floor to go with it. Will definitely return to get the full experience.

We went to Pigalle for my moms birthday dinner and we were absolutely blown away by the experience! The service, food and live band all added so much more to the evening. <br/><br/>The food arrived timelessly. I had the butternut soup as an appetizer, the queen prawns & savory rice as a main and the creme brûlée for desert. Everyone else thoroughly enjoyed their meals apart from my sister whose salmon was not cooked medium as she had ordered. <br/><br/>They went the extra mile bringing my mom a special pavlova and got the band to sing for her during the evening. <br/><br/>A wonderful evening! Worth every penny - will definitely be back soon.

If you really want to impress your date take him or her to Pigalle. (They have oysters which I believe is an aphrodisiac😬)This is one of the more sophisticated seafood restaurants in Cape Town.<br/><br/>From the moment you are seated you get the very best attention. It starts with immaculately dressed waiters flapping out a pristine white napkin and placing it on your lap. The great thing about the serving staff is that everyone helps you with a smile. There’s no “I’ll tell your waiter”. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable about the food. He explained the dishes in surprising detail and answered all of our questions without hesitation. That was impressive.<br/><br/>For me stepping into Pigalle is like stepping into a romantic movie. I love it. The ambience is great with stunning chandeliers, perfect lighting, well dressed tables, gorgeous artwork and live music. <br/><br/>The food was excellent. It was fresh, well seasoned and perfectly cooked. There’s a good variety of food on the menu and they serve red meat too (why anyone would want to forgo their delicious seafood for a steak is beyond me yet I heard that the steak which was about 800g and was succulent and tasty)<br/><br/>It’s a little more expensive than the average restaurant but this place is far above average so that’s ok. Our bill came to around R2600 for the six of us. I thought it was fair and well worth it.<br/><br/>Would I go again? Absolutely!!!

Went there for their winter special and it was divine! The service was top notch and they were very attentive. The food was delicious. I had the prawns which were so lovely. Very flavoursome and the chips came out crispy and not (and not drenched in oil). Had it with their Chardonnay which was also amazing. The ambiance was relaxed and the live jazz band added a kick to the atmosphere. I really recommend going!

I went to Pigalle for my graduation dinner. I had a three course meal that was so tasteful! The ambiance with the band and friendly staff excited for my celebration, made the choice of dinner venue all worth the spend!

It has been years since my husband and I have eaten here. We were invited to a 60th birthday party. Michelle's did not disappoint. I do wish that the steps going up to the front door were lit a bit more be a use it's very easy to miss the small steps at night. Despite this, the restaurant is just as stunning as it was before.<br/><br/>We even had an awesome waitron, John Bowers, who remembered us from our last visit! He was our waiting so many years ago!!! He even enquired how our children were. Absolutely amazing.<br/><br/>Our starters arrived. Wow. My husband had the prawn salad which had a beautiful modern presentation. The avo balanced the taste of the prawn. (Yes, I had a tiny bite). My starter was beautifully done beef torenado. Perfection. The beef was medium rare with a flavorful jus.<br/><br/>Our mains arrived. The sweet lady next to me had an enormous portion of linefish. My husband and I both had beef. I did have sinew running s enormous the length of the beef but it was cooked perfectly to medium rare. The chips were crispy and the vegetables were cooked al dente. Now we wait for dessert.<br/><br/>They make the best creme brulee!!! So good. Still the best creme brulee. I loved how the biscotti on the side offset the sweetness. Perfectly balanced.<br/><br/>

I’ve been to Pigalle a good few times including the one in Johannesburg and their food and service is always impeccable..the caramelised pear and almond salad is my personal favorite and their prawns are succulent and amazing.I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a special occasion.

One of the best foodie experiences I have ever lived through. Quality food, excellent service, if you call yourself a foodie, this is a DEFINITE MUST TRY!!! Although a bit pricey, it’s absolutely worth every penny. Definitely recommended for special occasions or even just to treat yourself đŸ˜Œâ€ïžđŸ˜đŸ™ Amazing food, amazing ambience and service that was absolutely incredible.

We opted to celebrate our anniversary here and as I have only heard great things about this restaurant I went with high expectations.<br/><br/>Let's start with the food. Best seafood we have had. My partner and I both opted for garlic rolls as a starter as we just love their sister restaurant, NV80s, rolls. For mains we ordered a seafood platter for 2. Amazing. Everything was flavourful and what tasted like the best quality of seafood. Shellfish were all juicy and meaty. I could not stop eating the calamari either. My partner opted for a side of rice and I opted for a side of fries. For dessert we had to try their revolutionary creme brulee which did not disappoint. We also tried a chocolate torte which we both did not enjoy too much.<br/><br/>Service was a big let down. Our waiter lacked the energy we were hoping for considering this was our first time at this establishment. He wasn't forthcoming about recommendations either. He seemed preoccupied with his other tables. We had to order a beverage from a different waitress as he couldn't be found. We asked for dessert menus and he forgot to bring them despite the table behind us having the se request, receiving their menu and having their order taken before we received our menu. Even when we did receive it, the menu was just placed before us and he left. I have emailed management and provided feedback and I have to commend them on their swift response.<br/><br/>Overall a good restaurant for special occasions as they are on the higher end of the price scale.

Outstanding. Quality. Amazing. Service. Food. Entertainment. They know how. The BEST restaurant in town for service and quality, well done team Pigalle it was Top notch!!! Loved it.
Nooru Harnekar
I feel like this place has list a bit of it’s charm. Very little has changed in the last 10 years. The ‘if it’s not broke don’t fix it’ attitude. Same live entertainment with the same playlist. Menu is standard. Food is good. Hit the dance floor with your partner and work off some of your meal to golden oldies đŸŽ”

Went for a friends birthday, we did the set menu option. Everything was done to satisfaction, and the service was good. Will definitely be going back.
Robin Mahlangu
The food was amazing, the staff were professional and frindly and the ambiance is almost unmatched. I really had an enjoyable experience. They were able to cater for our relatively large table and have closed off areas for an even more privacy if you so wish. The creme brulee deserves a special mention.
Food Man
This is the best in the country. The best Pigalle and the best restaurant. Value for money, quality and ambiance. Make sure you make a booking as they are booked out for weeks during peak season. A true fine dining wall Street experience!
Raeesah Ebrahim
The vibe and live music just sets the scene for a romantic supper and the menu gives you so many options however pigalle is known for their seafood so I recommend you definitely order anything seafood the prawns are always a winner.

Loved this experience. Absolute must try. Good food and great music. Very impressed with the atmosphere. Transported back in time a little. Cocktails are amazing

All the times I've been here I've thoroughly enjoyed it, from silver service to the seafood platter! The Norwegian salmon sauce was about over powering but the platters and the scallops were amazing

My husband and I loved this restaurant. Everything was great! The food, the entertainment, the ambience, and every single thing about it. We got the butternut and cumin soup, and the greek salad as our starters, then we ordered the prawns and a steak as our main course and everything was so delicious! Especially the prawns in my opinion. We also got sides for the steak, we got the garlic roll (OMG SO GOOOOD!!!), and the creamy spinach (also amazing!!). We were too full for dessert.
Natalie
Absolutely amazing. Right from when you walk in the door to the moment that you leave the friendly and accommodating staff are ready to help with anything.<br/>The food was well presented and prepared. There is a live band which plays during the evening to complete a wonderful experience. <br/>Definitely would be giving this place more than 5 stars if I could.
Renier Uys
Great restaurant with a fantastic jazz ambience. Food is amazing, but prices are steep. Restaurant might be due for renovations in my opinion. Cocktails a bit watered down. Will still be back for fantastic food. Perfect for special occasions.
Aishapaedia
Amazing experience - food, service and atmosphere was incredible. Definitely recommend the prawns and the pear salad. Really felt warm welcome
Bryan Vally
For me personally, this was the worst meal I've ever had in Cape Town. We went for a birthday party because a friend had raved about their food. To me, a seafood restaurant should never serve rubbery calamari and their risotto was just rice, vegetables and a "sauce". (Both of these choices were recommended by the waiter too). Some of my friends' food (sirloin steak in particular) was good and the service was as crisp and present as any I've experienced in Cape Town. The setting is quite kitsch, over-the-top romantic but still amusingly quaint. Perhaps different meal choices would yield a different experience, but based on mine I wouldn't recommend risking a visit.
Nicole Andrews
I enjoyed my food so much I forgot to take enough pics lol. My only downfall was the lamb shank was abit overcooked and had many burnt pieces but it was still delicious. The starter mussels is to die for. Honestly I've never tasted such amazing mussels with that divine sauce. It was seriously the best thing ever. I rave about it every chance I get.

Came here for dinner over the weekend with a few friends... What was nice was that they were able to accommodate us without a booking and there were 8 of us so that was cool. I must commend the manager on the evening I was there, very hospitable gentleman. I had the herb marinated fillet which was made to perfection, I asked for it to be prepared medium and I got a really good medium steak. <br/><br/>The downfalls of the evening however were that the service was extremely poor. Our food took close to an hour and not once did our waiter come apologize or let us know why there is a hold up. Irrespective of how full or empty a restaurant is I think that the appropriate thing to do is let hungry customers know when the kitchen is backed up etc. Even when our food arrived our waiter did not come back to check on the table. Had it not been for the poor service I would have awarded a rating of 4/4.5....
Elle Mbadaliga
I went to Pigalle with a special someone. Everything was perfect. The decor was delicate and elegant. There was a live band playing soft music. It was beautiful. The music wasn't loud and did not get in the way of conversation.<br/><br/>I have never been to a restaurant where they treat you like royalty. The hosts checked up on us every 20mins or so. Our waitress was the most bubbly and friendly person ever. She went through some of their signature dishes with us and informed us more about the restaurant. <br/><br/>The food was divine, though I played it safe and had line fish. I cannot wait to have many more nights at Pigalle.<br/>
I Love Foodies
Pigalle in Green Point has been on my must-try list for the past few years. The only thing I knew was that they were an award-winning seafood restaurant, had ostrich steak on their menu, and had the same owners as NV-80, my favourite restaurant in town. So when, in the days leading up to my date with them, I found out a little more about what these guys were about, I was quite intrigued.
Lenise Vd Westhuizen
What a great night this was,,<br/>Something different from the usual and i enjoyed my birthday to the max Pigalle Restaurants thank you for hosting my guests,<br/>Jazz Band💯<br/>Special thanks to my husband Charlton van der Westhuizen for this Birthday treat,<br/>The food was extraordinary and I loved every moment❀
Miriam Jiménez García
What a beautiful place for a date, very romantic!<br/>There was on live music.. food was really good (remark teriyaki salmon and mushroom raviolis) &a service was good, very quick and the manager came to greet us! 100% sure we will come back :)
Lisa Botha Gibbon
Elegantly understated top quality food - it's not the current trend of fiddly fine dining, but rather great food, consistently presented with quality service to match. This is such a stunning place. Really old school. Not fancy in terms of food (we've been coming to this family of restaurants for 20 years...) - in fact the menu has changed little over time. But when you're talking about a beautiful sole, perfectly prepared, or the best prawns I've had in many years, in a gorgeous Nacional sauce - gosh - it's pretty perfect. The pavlova dessert featured lovely soft meringue and delicious fruit flavours. Hats off to Vicky and Naldo for maintaining their wonderful standards over so many years. To end it all, coffee just the right size (I hate being drowned in milky cappuccino...). Awesome evening. We will be back
Nicole
Pigalles never disappoints.. Went for Date Night with my boyfriend for the first time after a long time again and the food was just as good as I remembered it to be. Doesn't matter if your craving seafood or grill they perfect bothđŸ‘ŒđŸŒ I had a rib eye steak with mushroom sauce on the side. The steak was really tender and a perfect medium to well done grill. The sauce was creamy and they did not hold back on the mushrooms. My boyfriends seafood platter was grilled to perfection, and their crayfish has to be their specialty💯 We definitely left completely satisfied with the service and food. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and loved how they made small talk with their customers and cracked a joke or 2 here and there. They surely Aced in the customer service department!! Their creme brĂ»lĂ©e was surely a favorite for the evening as well. From presentation to flavor they perfected it all the way.. Definitely on my top 5 restaurants in Cape Town✔

A great venue to celebrate a birthday dinner. Had a live band that played and was great to hear them sing happy birthday to the surprised birthday lady.
Nabeelah Valley
Attended Pigalle for a family function and it was so lovely. The atmosphere is great especially with the live jazz band. Service was great and the food was even better. I'd definitely go back.
Jana Van Rensburg
Attended a function at Pigalle. I love the decor, it gives a dark and mysterious old style vibe.<br/><br/>There was a live band and some other performances too. The food was delicious. Will definitely go again even if it's just for the mouth watering choc pudding.
Natalie Lazaris
I love Pigelle. This original restaurant is definately the flagship in the group. Firstly the setting is scarface gangster with a dinner dance. Who can complain on a Saturday night enjoying a scrumptious meal followed by a bit of a razzle. Dress up and act spectacular. The lobster thermador is decadent, rich and flavorful. Don't forget to take a garlic roll, homemade and a signature to Pigelle. Every visit to the Mother city deserves a visit to this beautiful establishment.

For me dinning out is much more than the food... I go<br/>dinning for the experience and the ambiance. I look for good service, friendly,<br/>engaged and knowledgeable staff. I look for well-prepared dishes with fusion of<br/>flavours and inviting presentation. I look for love, that food orgasmic feeling. I loved the live band - it felt like someone gave them my personal playlist. The music added a calming soothing sensation. I found the décor fascinating, different yet enchanting...<br/><br/>I had the Line Fish, Nacional, it melted in my mouth, magical.  I would however recommend that it gets served in pasta kind of dishing plate, because it was difficult to<br/>enjoy the sauce from a flat plate. My sister had the lamb shank, a simple 10/10.EXCELLENCE. The lamb shank was succulent; falling off the bone with perfect, aromatic and soulful flavours. My friend had the most well prepared rib eye steak, it was juicy, tender and nicely spiced. Pigalle serves beautiful, crunchy, well flavoured veggies and the portions are huge. It really is worth visiting.I got all I was looking for... a magical night, a journey of food and an amazing experience.
Ankia Scholtz
Great seafood restaurant with outstanding service from hospitable and attentive staff members. The managers was also very hands on making sure our table was satisfied and happy with food and service.

Love this place! Went to a birthday party here. The vibe was lovely and so was the service. We stayed till 3am and the management had no problem. Had a steak fillet and veggies. It was well seasoned and perfectly cooked. The creme brulee was creamy and not too sweet. A friend who had the malva pudding said it was good too. The band played good music. The overall set up is classy and well maintained. Perfect place to go to if you're looking for a classy menu and experience.

I invited 5 friends to celebrate my birthday at Pigalle. I went there 2 weeks ago, and could barely cut and chew through the lamb cutlets. I already had the birthday reservation and off we went. This time I ordered prime rib. Unfortunately the same situation arose. The prime rib was a huge thick piece of meat- I specifically ordered it medium rare in the hope that this time it would soft and edible. To my surprise it was not medium rare, but medium. It was extremely tough, the knife could barely cut through the neat. I was given a "sharper" knife, not much better. Luckily my friends ordered the lamb shank which was edible. Unfortunately I went home with an empty stomach and a huge bill.
The Authentic Girl
I LOVE this Pigalle's! The restaurant is sophisticated and elegant yet it also has the dance floor and band. <br/><br/>For mains, I ordered the Lamb shank, which was tender and fell off the bone. The lamb shank was slow roasted in a beef sauce, served with mashed potato and vegetables.  The beef sauce was rich and creamy, the mash and vegetables helped to balance the flavours. I could not finish my dish, because the portions was huge (Who doesn't love left overs the next day). The entire dish was perfection and served beautifully.<br/><br/>For dessert, I ordered the creme brulee and loved it! <br/><br/>It was such a pleasant fine dining experience. I loved ending off the night with some dancing!
Pam Collins
We have been going to Pigalle for the past 9 years to celebrate our anniversary - wow has it changed in just one year.  Service was dismal, food was good but the place is now not fine, elegant dining,  just loud and trashy. Won't be going back.
Mbaki Wotho
I genuinely expected better - firstly, the setting is much like a restaurant you'd expect to see Tony Montana in (there's a live band so your minimum order has to be R200 or something, whatever). <br/><br/>The food was so unbelievably underwhelming - i had the calamari to start and the less I say about that the better. This was followed by the salmon which was actually delicious albeit slightly overcooked. Lastly, I finished my meal with a Malva pudding with butterscotch and yes, it was as sweet as it sounds. I had to keep pausing to drink water as it was so sweet.<br/><br/>I wouldn't go as far as saying don't go here because it's a lovely vibe, but I am unlikely to recommend it.<br/><br/>p.s. they served one of us utterly raw fish hence the low rating. did i add there was about an hour between our starters and our mains, for a table of 4 that's unacceptable as the place was nowhere near capacity. 🙃
Lucy Dzinza
Amazing place! Amazing food! Amazing music & Amazing service....We had a fantastic 5th anniversary celebration.....A fine dining place in Cape Town, who wouldn't want to go again!
Paige Ellis Green
Wow! What a treat. <br/>Absolutely exquisite venue, incredibly friendly staff and best of all, the food. <br/>We shared large salads amongst our table for starters, which was absolutely delicious. I made a good decision by ordering the prawns. I must say, they were some of the best prawns I have ever had. Juicy, well cooked and full of favor. This was accompanied by a veggie stir fry. I had a difficult time deciding between the cheesecake and the chocolate fondant. Being a chocolate lover I went for the fondant. Rich, warm and gooey with cold and refreshing vanilla ice cream. <br/>What a treat. It is rather pricey but if someone else is paying, I highly recommend it 😄. Haha, great for celebrations!
Jana Ferreira
Who doesn't love dining to the live performed tunes of Neil Diamond, Olivia Newton John and Abba?! <br/><br/>We were lucky enough to discover this marvelous restaurant at my boyfriend's work year end function. But I bet it's a delightful occasion any time you dine here! <br/><br/>The service is tops - quick, knowledgeable and super friendly. <br/>The food was a very happy surprise purely because the previous year's year end function catering was a disaster of 9/11 proportions. I had the salmon and my main squeeze had the steak. Both meals were excellent. There was no faulting it! And the dessert was a dream! Best chocolate cheesecake I've had in years. <br/><br/>Pigalle might be pricey but if you're looking to impress a date, it's a perfectly appropriate choice! Just remember to pack your dancing shoes because the live band WILL get you up and moving; they are sensational. <br/><br/>

I attended a work function at the swanky Pigalle's and may I whisper a secret......I left there rather underwhelmed. Yes, it's Pigalle, the home of fine dining, live music and prices that threaten to get your blood pressure in that danger zone. I guess if I was paying for the meal, it definitely would have been a case of buyer's remorse. <br/><br/>We were a table of eight and the upselling from the effervescent waitress started as soon as we were seated. Yummy garlic rolls and bottles of mineral water were enthusiastically brought to the table. I ordered the beef carpaccio for my starter and even though the beef was melt-in-the-mouth, it was under seasoned and the sauce/vinaigrette lacked some serious acidity. For my mains, I convinced one of my colleagues to share the seafood platter for two, which came with two lobster tails, prawns, langoustines, calamari, fish, mussels and savoury rice. Rest of the table had the lamb shank, steak and others had the prawn platter. Nothing mind blowing but okay. Ended off with an overly sweet pavlova with fresh fruit and berry compote. If you want to impress a loved one, or find yourself in deep trouble with the partner, or need to clinch that tender, bring them to Pigalle's...

Lovely vibey spot. They had a live band on Saturday night....only thing is they expect that their patrons food bill be over R200 per person in order to cover band expenses. Food is lovely and service is good. Just felt a little deaf after sitting next to the dance floor.

Went to Pigalle for a work function and had an amazing experience. The food was fantastic and they planned well for the amount of people they catered for. I will definitely go try them out on a normal night sometime to see how the experience is.

I ate at Pigalle for a work function a few weeks back, and I still think of the food daily. Lovely environment, fine dining with live background music.<br/><br/>I ate all of my colleagues' food to give you a proper verdict (that's my story and I'm sticking to it). I'll summarise quickly: freshest oysters I've ever had; chocolate mousse so light and fluffy but so rich I couldn't finish it (in a gloriously indulgent way).<br/><br/>Then there was the salmon (and this is where I start weeping). I ate this morsel by tiny morsel, savouring each bite. It was cooked to perfection, my mouth is literally watering while I write this. Every small mouthful was a taste sensation. I wanted everyone to try it, but also didn't want to share. Probably the best meal I've had this year.

If you want to feel glamorous and dress slightly OTT, this is the place to go. We've been for romantic dinner and a little dancing, big band bash functions and classic dinner with friends. Waiters are well trained (also to try and upsell extras) and the food is surprisingly good for such a large establishment. Ideal for celebrations.
Dennis Chiang
Been here many times, very consistent with their food. Good service all round, in the evenings there usually a band that sings live. I would recommend the seafood over the other dishes. langoustines is a must have. <br/>Usually have the seafood platter for 2 which is very filling but worth the pricey price tag. Their oysters are extremely good with the spicy salsa option. Large scallops for starters is a must have which his served on a small bed of risotto.

I recently had dinner at Pigalle for a friend's birthday and it was definitely a memorable fine dining experience. The luxurious setting was warm and plush, making it perfect for the chilly, Cape Town winter nights. The atmosphere is brilliant with live jazz music and even a dance floor for those who prefer a dinner with a little dance.<br/><br/>We ordered from a set menu and the award winning food did not disappoint. The starters were light and flavorful with the soup and calamari being the favorites. The mains were delicious and were surprisingly larger than expected. The lamb was beautifully seasoned and tender and the salmon was moist and cooked to perfection. The meal was brought to a close with lovely deserts such as creme brûlée and chocolate mousse. <br/><br/>Service staff were friendly and extremely attentive and the manager continuously walked around the restaurant and checked on the satisfaction of the patrons. The staff were very accommodating to our requests which allowed for a unique birthday experience.

I decided to have my graduation dinner at Pigalle as it is the perfect venue for a celebration and is a dinner and dance restaurant. The restaurant has a beautiful and elegant set up that adds to the experience. For ordered a bottle of wine for the table and for starters we ordered a Greek salad for the table, chicken livers, calamari and a spinach and feta ravioli as the veg starter. For mains the kingklip fish dressed with a chili ginger sauce was ordered by majority and enjoyed! The sauce was different from the usually garlic and lemon sauce and that's why I enjoyed it. The portions were really big. My dad ordered extra prawns to his fish and he enjoyed the meal as well. My mom ordered the veg risotto and thought that it need more flavour and extra chili perhaps. For desert the chocolate fondant and the creme brûlée was ordered. Both were enjoyed but I preferred the chocolate fondant that was accompanied with pistachio ice cream. Overall great experience!

Pigalle: an old world establishment with a touch of bling, a restaurant from a bygone era. Perfect for date night or a special occasion. Spacious but warm and cosy. Live music by a jazz band with a beautiful smooth and accomplished singer. Even a dance floor. <br/>The food, mostly seafood, is delicious and the service professional.<br/>Expensive as expected. We had a wonderful evening.Suzanne Geldenhuys Julian Reeve Marianne Louw

What an amazing venue. We had my mother's 80th here in a private room with a fireplace and presentation facilities. Attention to detail, flowers, food all amazing. The band even played her song. Brilliant.

Our food took way too long to come, almost an hour I think. If a certain dish takes time to prepare I think the waiter must tell you in advance because had I known I probably would have ordered something different. I had the lamb cutlets. Good portion and okay taste. Nothing to brag out. My guess is that a seafood dish would've been better.

We tried their winter special on a cold and rainy Tuesday evening. It was a real treat. The food was excellent, the live band was brilliant and helped to make the evening very special. The only negative was that the service was slow: our waiter though friendly, was mostly absent and preoccupied with her other tables. Nonetheless it was altogether a wonderful experience and the winter special is definitely worth it.

Pigalle is great for big events and caters well to the demands of many with practiced ease. <br/><br/>Have been here about a dozen times and always have a good time and a great meal. <br/>On my last visit we had a set menu of salmon salad; delicious, moist beef fillet (I like mine rare) and creme brulee for dessert. Perfect!

I cannot imagine that anything could ever be wrong at this place! <br/>Very classy, stylish and sophisticated.<br/>We enjoyed the live music that played, and the option to dance as well! :-) <br/>The service excellent <br/>Food, amazingly delicious! Food that would make Jamie Oliver very proud.<br/>This one is for that special date nights!

I once had great food here a few years ago. So I had been craving it and one day I decided to take this bird here on a first date - big mistake. (I hope she sees this). Anyways, I looked online and there was a seafood platter special, can't remember the price but say around R450. Perfect, R450 sounds reasonable. We go there, great ambiance. Now cos I brought her here, this bird thinks I'm Bill Gates and orders 3 scallops for R135. Fine. We order the seafood platter. Great. Now the cheque comes. R950. Oh my hat. Turns out they charged me full price for the platter cos I didn't specifically request the special, even though they didn't tell me what the specials were. Now I'm on a first date, I can't complain about money. I left it. Next day I call and say what happened, the manager says there's nothing they can do about it. But perhaps next time I should ask for him and they will give me a comp bottle of wine or something. Great. Offer the Muslim people wine. 😒

Real classy joint. Enjoyed the ambience. Almost a bygone age feeling.<br/>From the reservation to reception to the goodbye, all very professional.<br/>Service was also top class but our waiter tended to disappear and someone took over and then original guy reappeared- slightly disconcerting but not a train smash.<br/>Starters included pear and almond salad, scallops and calamari. All devoured in record time.<br/>Mains were prawns mainly- delicious and firm - perfect ! Complimented by a great peri- peri sauce. Others had sole and salmon teriyaki. Everyone raved about the food.<br/>Desserts were creme brûlée and the waiter found some lemon sorbet which wasn't on menu but be conjured up. Impressive <br/>Top notch <br/>Spoil yourself !

Pigalle has to be one of Cape Town's finest! I absolutely love this place. From the food to the decor, entertainment and service, it's always amazing. <br/><br/>I've experienced a number of dishes on the menu and I'm yet to try one I don't thoroughly enjoy. From appetizer to entree and dessert it's a food journey you'll love all the way through. <br/><br/>I think for me, what stands out most about Pigalle is the service. It really is about the customer experience each time, from management to the waiters. And if you've been, you'll know what I mean. <br/><br/>Other than the food, the live band is another great offering. Enjoy amazing food and then dance the night away...<br/><br/>Overall, it is an amazing resturant for a private function or a sophisticated dinner. And if you haven't tried it out, have you even lived? 😉

I really enjoyed myself at this place .Music is great ,very mature crowd which makes it perfect for Midweek dinner plans .Pricey but so worth every penny .<br/><br/>Manager was great.<br/><br/>I ordered the baby kingklip in lemon butter was 😋 delicious.Well prepared and well presented.<br/>Bravo👌

Had a dinner party of 20 guests. Service was excellent and the food was great. I had a seafood platter to start and a grilled sole as my main. Really tasty. Service was what you would expect.

Visited Pigalle during my September trip to Cape Town for my sister's Birthday dinner. The place lived up to it's online reviews, with a very classy and mid 1920's feel to it, with bold chandeliers draped from the ceiling, large private dining booths as well as a live band glistening out the classics. <br/><br/>I ordered a Salmon Teriyakie and boy was it delectable. The serving portions were larger than most restaurants boasting this kind of menu and it was undeniably one of the best Teriyaki's I have had. <br/><br/>The staff were very friendly and assisted with any requests with a smile. A place I would definitely recommend and go back to!

Always a good night out. Good food, wonderful music with live band and a floor to let loose a little. Food is pretty pricey though, you'll pay for a good time.

We went to pigalle for my husband's birthday supper and really enjoyed the experience. <br/>The waiters were excellent, friendly and accommodating. We had the wild mushroom ravioli for starters. The rib eye and the Mozambican prawn curry for mains. And the chocolate fondant for dessert. <br/>The rib eye was tasty and perfectly cooked. The mash accompanying had a taste I didn't particularly enjoy. The prawn curry was more towards Thai and needed some more kick. The fondant was excellent. <br/>The ambience is great. Especially when people start dancing to the live band.<br/>We will definitely go back to celebrate more special events.

Still one of my favourite spots in Cape Town!Been here many times and the food is superb! Live music - dinner dance style and always cool.Be prepared to pay a little more but worth every cent!
Michael
We started off with oysters and snails which were both absolutely delicious just watch out for the pigalle hot sauce, it's tasty but very hot. <br/><br/>My girlfriend and I then had a seafood platter for 2. The lobster and prawns were fresh and the flavors were exquisite!! <br/><br/>Would come back to pigalle over and over, I look forward to coming back to this one and also look forward to trying one in JHB.

What a great experience. We didn't have a booking and the restaurant was fully booked, but we still got helped. Amazing food and even greater service!

I can't stay away from this place. The food and the atmosphere almost never disappoints this time however the creme brûlée was not up to standard my main and starter was outstanding so I can forgive the dessert

Went to Pigalle for a friends birthday dinner. The restaurant has a very 1920's feel to it almost as if you're dining at one of Gatsby's parties. This was different but lovely. We had a table close to the stage where we further felt like we were in a movie. <br/><br/>I ordered the Trinchado for starters which I thoroughly enjoyed and the Lamb shank for mains which was cooked to perfection. I also tasted some of my friends prawns which were delicious. Everyone raved about their dinner. <br/><br/>The service was great, we were well taken care of. I would highly recommend a visit to Pigalle especially for special occasions. It is quite a treat!

Pigalle last night was an absolute treat! As it was a Saturday night, the restaurant was packed but this didn't dampen the cosy and intimate dining experience Pigalle has to offer. Neither did it affect the service. Our waiter was attentive, handling our large table with ease, and our food arrived promptly.<br/><br/>One of the only problems I had was choosing what to eat. Pigalle's menu has a variety of appetizing options that would appeal to even the most fussy of eaters. The portions are perfectly sized for you to fit in a starter and a main comfortably, so you can indulge in an assortment of dishes!<br/><br/>The wild mushroom ravioli definitely made the greatest impression! The light ravioli was perfectly complimented by the dense texture of the mushrooms.<br/><br/>Unfortunately we had to leave early, but next time I'm definitely staying for dessert!
Monique Monique
We had a work be together here and being from the Northern Suburbs, I had no clue what to expect. Wow, wow and another wow... Worth the drive! I had the ostrich steak and veggies... Yum! The live music adds the special touch to the dream called Pigalle. Definitely will be back.
Wayne Manuel
Awesome awesome night out. I spend my birthday there and it was u forgettable. The atmosphere was awesome and they go out of their way to make you feel very special. One of my favourite restaurants in Cape Town.

Over the years the team at Pigalle has served consistently great seafood & steaks from 'backstage' whilst the band 'onstage' has belted -out the music that keeps regulars on the dance-floor month after month...<br/>Victor (owner) & Warren (manager) are the perfect hosts!!!<br/>Long may Pigalle rule as SA's premier dinner/dance venue.

Visited 21/10/15. Decor is beautiful. The live music is excellent. I really liked that I could still listen to it when I left the table to go to the bathroom. The waiter was attentive and offered suggestions for drinks and accompaniments. The food was delicious. This is the only place we found in Cape Town with scallops on the menu and they were wonderful (although, the hollandaise sauce was possibly a little too much). Would highly recommend for the food, the service and the atmosphere. Thanks for a great night.
The Foodie Corner
I must admit I was nervous about trying this restaurant - even though live music can create a lovely atmosphere, it can also become too loud and ruin the evening. However, Pigalle did not disappoint!<br/><br/>We arrived early and they were still setting up for dinner, so we were offered drinks at their bar. Pigalle boasts an extensive wine list with really some of the best wines available. They also do charge a corkage, so you can bring your own wine as well.<br/><br/>Once dinner began, we were offered a choice between their normal bread at no extra charge and some of their garlic bread to start off with. I would recommend the garlic bread, it's really something you need to try! Crispy on the outside and soft and buttery on the inside, and not overpowered by garlic!<br/><br/>For starters, we had the mushroom ravioli, oysters, smoked salmon and chicken livers. The ravioli was devine, although I found it very filling for a starter. The same goes for the salmon and the chicken livers - although both were delicious, they were very rich. The oysters were beautifully fresh and well presented. I would definitely recommend getting them with Pigalle's chili sauce - it really completes the dish! In future, I would probably share a starter with someone. <br/><br/>For mains, we had the salmon teriyaki, lobster thermidor and prawn curry. The salmon teriyaki was definitely my favorite dish of the night - crispy skin, perfectly cooked salmon fillet with the most amazing sauce to compliment it. And the mash - out of this world! The lobster thermidor was also delicious, although personally I've had better and I don't think it was worth the price. The curry was devine - not too hot with prawns that were cooked to perfection! <br/><br/>Everyone felt quite stuffed after the main course, so for dessert we only had the chocolate fondant and the chocolate torte. I would highly recommend the fondant - perhaps the best I've ever tasted! When I pushed my spoon into it and the chocolate started running out of it, I knew it was going to be amazing! And I was right! Still warm from the oven, with a crispy outside and a melt in your mouth, rich, warm chocolatey inside. The pistachio ice cream it came with was also amazing! The chocolate torte was a bit dry, but also quite nice. I wouldn't order it again though.<br/><br/>Overall, an enjoyable evening! The live music started playing at around 8 and it was not too loud. I like the atmosphere created by the jazzy music and the fancy chandeliers - it really makes you feel like royalty. I was a bit disappointed with the service - we started out with a really friendly waitress who was very helpful. She answered all the questions we had about the food really well and looked after us, bringing out our food on time and making sure that our glasses remained full. But as the evening progressed, she seemed to disappear. Also, the door to the smoking area was open the entire night and we could smell the smoke coming from it, which was quite annoying. <br/><br/>If you want to enjoy an evening of fine dining, arrange a special date night or just celebrate the end of the week with a nice family get together, Pigalle comes highly recommended! It's a must stop on any foodie's list. I'm happy to have had the opportunity to experience it, but I think the food is a bit overrated and I don't think they'll see me again anytime soon.<br/><br/>Top tips: There's parking behind the restaurant, so you don't have to struggle to find a spot in the busy main road. Pigalle is known for their amazingly fresh seafood, so if your going, definitely order seafood! If you actually want to be able to hear what the people at your table are saying, request a table far away from the stage. I did this, and the sound didn't bother us that much, but we still got the atmosphere from the live music. The dress code is smart casual, so don't be that guy who pitches up in shorts and a t-shirt!
Haleisha
I absolutely love it and would recommend it to anyone for an adults night out. The ambience, the vibe, the service...a must visit ! This spot will certainly be seeing me many times over, and all the guests I take out! Thanks guys and keep up the great work!
Jessica Stromin
Great place for a fancy night out or special occasion. I loved the band and dancing, but it can get a bit loud so you might have to shout across the table. Service was excellent, as was the food. I tried the prawn cocktail to start and the ostrich fillet for mains, although it seems seafood is the thing to have here! My fillet was delicious though, and I look forward to returning soon!
Tasha Mushyy
This is one of the best restaurants I have been too and the food is up to standard , the service was amazing and I would certainly love to go there again..
LeMarc Gouws
Amazing venue, very upmarket and their food is magnificent! They normally have live jazz acts playing softly in the background, and their service is excellent! Had the scallops and crayfish as main meal, amazing!
Carlo Aka Lil C
If you are in the mood to fine dine this is a great place, prawns, calamari, beef fillet and prime rib is amazing! Service is great and live band is really what catches your needs to come back.
Toinette Tobias
Brilliant menu and everything is bursting with flavour, even their salad. They have a fantastic winter special on and if you enjoy a little music it's the perfect night out. Try the chocolate mousse. It's rich and smooth and unbelievable.
Leanie Strydom
Wow, picture the older dinner and dancing vibe, like almost a ballroom vibe, fabulous food, totally professional staff, this is a place to impress a partner! Very grand, very swanky.
Robert Lutece
Very swanky place. A bit similar to a restaurant/ballroom of a cruise liner. Live band adds to that. A bit pricey. Prawns and ostrich are amazing. So is their range of deserts. Friendly staff. Personally I prefer a quieter place but I see the appeal of Pigalle.
Richard
The food was excellent, well prepared, tasty, appropriate portion sizes, attractively presented and served promptly. What was a bit disconcerting was the decor / ambiance. We felt like we were back in the 70s. You guys could really do with a make-over.

We dined at Pigalle a while back, we attended a Ton Zacappa tasting dinner. They paired rum cocktails with meals- amazing! We had a great time with delicious food and great service. This is a must if you are in Cape Town!

Love Pigalle! Have been here a number of times, the food is always of such high standard. One of my favourite dishes is the Norwegian salmon with mash - absolutely delicious! If you haven't been to Pigalle, I suggest you treat yourself and try it out!

What an experience! The service is out of this world. The food is amazing. Seafood is extremely fresh, and you can definitely taste this. Everyone MUST try the garlic bread, to die for! But what I crave every single day is the Chocolate Fondant. I am very impressed with Pigalles. Live entertainment and friendly staff.
