does not have great service but the food is amazingly fresh. You may sometimes wait a while for your food. Haven't been there in about year. But I use to consistantly go. The service is slightly below par from my experiences. But the food is great. So if you are hungry and feel like having a good solid seafood meal, go to camps bay ocean basket because their food will deliver.
Not sure why the reviews are poor. I felt the food was exactly what id expect from ocean basket. Simple and tasty foods. Service was fine. Views were great. Just a typical ocean basket visit 😀
You know every time I go to Ocean Basket in Campsbay the service great and food consistently good , simple and you get what u pay for!! Great management always friendly and remembered my name. Well done guys keep it up!

I tried the Prawn Special with a side of Fried Calamari and I usually don’t like Calamari but the way Ocean Basket makes it I actually enjoy it. The Prawn Special comes with Rice and Chips so it definitely is quite a filling meal.
Atmosphere and view from the top is amazing, it overlooks the Camps Bay Beach so make sure you try and get a seat near the window.
Set in a busy street with many great restaurants to choose from, this branch of OB is worthwhile. Food is good and staff and are efficient. Although you don't have as good a vibe as other places on the street, the food is certainly value for money.
Been here a few times and I prefer going during the week, as it’s not so full and the seats are not limited.
We had a full deck which was perfect for 4 people, changed calamari for calamari heads.
I always go for the grilled fish and Cajun style prawns its like fairy’s in your mouth.
Great view of you sitting outside however it can get windy and sometimes awkward as many people walks by or at the window upstairs@ also had a sea view
Hadn't been to any ocean basket in a very long time. Decided to have lunch while in camps bay. The food was warm, fresh and delicous. I thoroughly enjoyed the pumkin and spinach. The service was just okay.
This place has the best for both adults and kids. Very easy going relaxed atmosphere right across from a beautiful beach. We had a very kind great server and sushi was fresh and amazing topped off with a refreshing white sangria. Will definetly go back.
Well here in Cape Town for the first time and was suggested this place, for someone who is a sea food lover this is a great place. Ordered soup and prawns for starters and the prawns ver too good . Also tried the kajun fried fish with garlic butter sauce. Sauce was yum.
Had a good time, the food was great too, the portions were definitely much better than the other Ocean Baskets I've been to. The service was pretty fast 😊

Was really really good. Food was all cooked to perfection and came within 15 minutes and the service from Solomon was impeccable. Really looked after us from beginning to end. Will definitely be back next time I am in Cape Town

The sushi is always good and the service incredibly fast! They normally have your meals to you within 15 minutes! I love that they offer carafes of wine which mean you're able to share one with your partner, and that the platters are also more than enough to share with someone. The only sad thing is that they've done away with their lovely rolls and you now get half a slice of brown bread. Pity.

Update: went back here for prawns recently, and whilst the restaurant was extremely busy the service was absolutely phenomenal! Prawns were out of this world (as always) but President (the Manager) ensured our food arrived within minutes and that everything was perfect! President for, well..president!
On a sunny Sunday afternoon we found it fitting to have lunch with a view. Ocean basket is a firm favourite. Our usual, the platter for two..with hake instead of linefish, calamari cajun style, deepfried calamari heads, half chips half rice, extra garlic sauce. What a mouthful! The food arrived promptly and we were pleasantly surprised as the platter was more generous compared to other Ocean Baskets. Great service and good food. Now my favourite Ocean Basket out of the lot.

Nice staff and nice food. What else there is to say, price is right. I stayed at self catering accommodation and this is 2km next to it. Our waitress Nandie was fantastic. And the food won't let you down.
Stopped by here for a quick lunch and as always their food is good and consistent. There lemon butter are delicious and the calamari is always a firm favourite of mine.
What a great way to enjoy the sun. Spent it in Camps bay and it was no mistake. Enjoyed the food. Enjoyed the view. Enjoyed the sunshine. Finished off with my favourite, mud pie. The portions have become small which is disappointing, but the flavours are still there.
They have this meze platter starter that is s9 delicious if you love calamari, olives and squid heads with hallloumi cheese. Well best you try it. It's new on the menu and what else the view of camps bay in front of you sunny sky and a gorgeous summer day definitely a must
This Ocean Basket probably has the best view ever. Love looking out over the Camps Bay strip - especially for sunset!!! Enjoyed some of their house wine while indulging in their Zen Sushi Platter, all with salmon. Super yum. My friends enjoyed a mixed sushi platter and the calamari with mixed veg. Tried a bit of both - real good. Of course Ocean Basket has some of the best calamari in town; always a winner. The service was also great - super friendly! Thoroughly enjoyable experience!
Great experience. Loved the little play area for the little ones. We saw dolphins riding in the surf. Food was lovely! We ordered seafood platters, and they were delish. My little girl's fish on her platter was a little underdone, but apart from that-great.
The service was lovely. The food was ok, I ordered a sea food platter for two. I shared it with a friend and it was more than enough for the two of us. The Hake wasn't enjoyable at all and the rest of the sea food was a little under seasoned.
What to ask more sitting in the sun and watching the sea!

The restaurant was full but the service was quit quick but unfortunately their card machine was not working so one of us when all the way to the atm!
I always enjoy my meal here. It's an ocean basket so you know what you're gonna get. We always share the platter for two and it's a good value for money seafood option. The line fish is a little hit and miss, but their sauces are delicious.
If you can get a table outside on a sunny day, it's a wonderful thing, to have a meal facing the ocean. Service here is good, though might get a little too crowded during peak eating hours. Food is great value for money. The sea food paella was cooked fresh, and very tasty. Overall a great experience.
The service is l impeccable. We started off with a guy recommending wines to us based on what we enjoy which I liked. The waitress was really patient wit us and tailored our meals to our specifications. The new salmon salad is not worth the money you spend. It was delicious but was more like a sample/teaser than a salad/small meal. Their sashimi is also very thin. Besides all that, I was shocked at how professional they were.
I came here for an early dinner and we sat upstairs to watch the sun go down. They have a prime position for sunsets, one of the best on that strip for a place that you don’t have to fork over your life savings to afford. The food was up to standard and we were pleased with the whole affair. Service could have been more prompt.

I have been to many Ocean Basket outlets during my holiday in Jo'berg a few years back. This time, when we planned a trip to Cape Town, I looked forward to a reunion with Ocean Basket - and oh what a reunion it was!
Our travel guide strongly recommended that we try the outlet at Camps Bay and enjoy our food watching the sunset there. So we made sure we got there before sunset and got a good table by the window. Fabulous! Set perfectly opposite the beach, there's a great view of the sunset. And you have good food and South African wine for company - what more can you ask for!
I have always loved loved loved the prawns at Ocean Basket. I love their prince prawns the best - they are the smallest but the yummiest. This is one place where I prefer the veggie over the fries. The veg stir fry here is yumm! Ask for some extra Cajun spice if you want more spunk in your prawns - but they are perfect as served.Â
Our experience at all Ocean Basket outlets has been fabulous. But two things stand out from the experience at Camps Bay. One - the beach view (with or without sunset). Two - the service is smiling and very friendly; and to top it, I forgot some shopping bags (from a dozen shopping bags) at the table and the lady waiter came after us downstairs to give me my bags. Kudos!
This new Ocean Basket opened up on the perfect location. With gorgeous views and great food, a visit to this Ocean Basket never disappoints.
was very excited that ocean basket had come to camps bay and that there was now an option for more affordable food along the strip but was quite surprised by the overwhelming price increases over such a short period of time. The portion sizes have also decreased significantly. I normally order the calamari 3 ways to share (for around 80 which had now gone up to 100) and the portion was not easily shareable. Other than that, the service, food and location were great- the lighting in the venue is just extremely bright though

We stopped here for a quick bite on arrival to camps bay. Food was nice - same Ocean Basket quality, drinks were very refreshing and service was good. There were loads of tables outside amd inside (upstairs and downstairs), We sat upstairs facing the ocean, views were just amazing. All in all a good quick bite
Excellent service. During loadhsedding Mercy at the door was kind enough to advise us and options and saving a customer. Not only did she win me over with them having gas, but Nandie and Richard went above and beyond to make us laugh and have a wholesome time. Hands down impressed with your staff.

Quickly seated, was very accommodating even during load shedding. Sushi is the best on camp bay (surprised to find out that it is a chain restaurant) Would love to see the this restaurant make it to Texas. Comparable to the $$$ seafood places in Houston.

Very slow and unprofessional service. But you have to go there for the Oysters!!! Its amazing and so fresh. Food in general is awesome. You gonna wait for more than 1 hour for you lunch, but it worths that!
