Review Primi Camps Bay - Camps Bay

Janet Lytwynchuk
An unexpected gem near Theatre on the Bay. Our waiter was excellent and our dry grilled baby calamari with roast veg, new potatoes and chips ( 3 of us shared) were all delicious. Wine prices were reasonable, and the sunset view was amazing. The only issue was our food took a long time to arrive despite it not being busy and it was a pre-theatre dinner, we arrived at 6.30pm and the show was at 8pm, so we were anxious we would have to rush our meal. It was OK but it would have been nicer to have 40 minutes to eat rather than 20. We will return and be very specific about timing on ordering and I am sure it will be perfect. Recommended.

We popped in for a quick bite after the theatre last night - what a super experience. Helpful efficient service, food was delicious - steak was tasty and cooked perfectly. We will be back as we go to the TOTB often :D

Not every greats get the buzz they deserve. This restaurant is located on the main famous road of Camps Bay but a tiny bit away from the busy side which I think does not give it all the recognition it deserves. The food taste great, as very very well done. We were a party of 10 and everyone LOVE the dish he/she ordered The drinks recommended by the staff were outstanding. All of that at a reasonable price. I will recommend a slight updating and upgrading of facility. Please keep the bathrooms sparkly clean all the time.

Having been a Primi patron since 2007, I was a little disappointed that they didn't have lamb shank. But generally the classics were there and the Rocco pasta was life giving as usual! โค๏ธ Still love the place. Waiters are still team players and assist you whether you are on their table or not ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿพ #PrimiPower

For the love of food. I had a blast with friends at Primi Camps Bay. My stake was juicy and scrumptious. It took us almost 3 hours from the Waterfront to Camps Bay due to the bumper traffic. I enjoyed every moment, including the vibe outside Primi. It felt like I was part of what was happening outside while sitting and enjoying good conversation.

I've lived in Camps Bay for a while and only tried this spot the other day. I was pleasantly surprised; well priced, fresh delicious food and a nice view. It was empty apart from us and service was excellent.

This is definitely one of the nicer Primis, the food and drinks are good just like the other ones. There is a great view if you in time for sunset. The service was good however the place was really empty for a Friday night which was nice but concerning. Parking can be a problem with a car but there is no issue with a motorcycle. The entrance is not wheelchair friendly.

A firm favorite. Fast, friendly, and tasty. 9/10. Why 9? Well, it would be 10 if the middle section of the window frame didn't block the stunning view.

The pizza and wine are amazing. Visiting Capetown for the first time and being an avid vegetarian pizza lover, loved their mix of pizza's- iron man was the best ... The staff is really nice and attentive. We loved it so much that we came twice for dinner during our stay. Definitely a must try of this branch at camps bay.

The location is great with spectacular views. The reception at the door from being welcomed to being shown a table, was friendly. Mandla, the waiter was cheerful and helpful. The background music was good deep house. I enjoyed the experience.

Small, personable restaurant. The staff are super friendly, the food wonderful. Highly recommend.

Came for late lunch, had fantastic food. Osso buco was very tasty, as well as the Primi burger and the two soups. Pleasant experience.

Guys your pizza really isn't very good - and this is primis in general...I've had years of sporadic experience and it's bad every time.
I just had a margerita with pineapple: I don't really know how to describe the dough other than chewy...my jaw got tired chewing. Like unless the pizza is piping hot the pizza is terrible. The cheese was hard, had none of that melty, soft deliciousness and there was about 1-2 pieces of pineapple per slice which is beyond annoying.
Just another experience to solidify why I never buy food from primi.

Whilst visiting friends in Sea Point we had the opportunity to visit this restaurant too.

The breakfast menu was great and the food tasted even better than it looked in the pictures.

Will definitely go back.

I had a very good experience tonight, particularly because the manager was so pro-active, charming and professional. I ordered the chicken liver pasta which was just too hot for me. Thado offered to replace the meal without the chillie and within ten minutes I had a new plate of delicious pasta, still in time to make the show next door. Great service that made my evening. Much appreciated!!!

Returned for a second time to this cozy spot around the corner from most of the other Camps Bay restaurants.

Drinks are good, all the way from the coffees all the way to the alcoholic drinks. They definitely know how to pour a proper cocktail.

Friendly service as always. The manager lady made us feel very welcome. Relaxed atmosphere.

We had the salmon protein bowl, which was a breakfast of champions!!!

All in all, lovely experience.

My friends and I went to PRIMI in Camps bay for my friends' 21st birthday cause she's a girl who loves a quite and chilled restaurant with a nice vibe and Primi's was just what we were looking for . The restaurant played calming music was full or rowdy , the presentation of the food was amazing the service was very good the waiters checked up on is often :)

Service was really good. The food was nicely prepared and so was my tea (thank you for that). Bread was served upon arrival (with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, other Primi's don't do that, so this one impressed me). All in all- a positive experience and I will return again soon.

There must be something about me that Primi like to hide me behind the door to the left when you enter. Small tables for 2, but they will add another chair if you have 3 in your party. While the rest of the place is just about deserted.

Have you ever tried a WRAP at Primi? Well I did a few days ago. A wrap, according to Primi was four salad leaves, 1" x 2" next to one another laid out on small platter. On top of that was the same size as the salad leaf, thin pieces of bread covered with another salad leaf, white cheese and a few cut mini tomatoes. $72. Who said Primi was cheap!
Sent it back- and even paid for it. False advertising

If you can't even make a decent wrap. - OMG. No wonder Primi was deserted - nearly NO customers for lunch on February 15, while other restaurants in Sea Point were filled to the brim!

Fix your management or go bankrupt!

Goodbye Primi!

I've been to various branches of Primi, including this one, a number of times. This was my first experience of their new menu. It strikes me as having a really interesting variety on offer with some wonderfully fresh choices. I love the inclusion of salsas, Persian salad, gremolata and so on. Not your typical franchise restaurant menu!
While I will be back, there were a few things that caused my less than enthusiastic rating. Our greeting was friendly and our seating speedy, but after that we battled to find someone to serve us. The staff are always helpful and pleasant once they're with you, but the fact that you have to keep hunting for your waiter is annoying.

I chose the Tricolore pizza. It's enjoyable but a little underwhelming. I love fresh, minimalist pizzas but this one was a little TOO minimalist. Especially when priced at over R100. The avo salsa is delicious.

When choosing to use photographs of dishes in your menu, it really is a good idea to serve up something resembling the picture. The onion rings are yummy, but definitely not what was expected from the picture that tempted the order.

The house wine is excellent. It's wonderful to actually see a good wine chosen as the house varietal rather than just the cheapest option.

I'm sure I'll be back at Primi in general and at this particular branch. I just hope the friendly service will be a bit more attentive and my next choice from the new menu is a more exciting one.

What's not to love about this place? Great service, friendly staff, delicious pizza, tasty jam jars and breathtaking view of the camps bay beach. I love summer lunches here! Thanks for the speedy service! We enjoyed our Californian pizza & jam jar! I'll Definitely be back ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ‘ŒโคKim Vee

Breakfast with a sea view! Thanks for a great breakfast and accommodating us! One is vegan & the waiter even gave us of his personal almond milk! That's service. #welldone & will be back!

Went in for the view and some cocktails.

It doesn't seem to matter which Primi one visits the service is always the same. Sadly that's BAD!!!

We visited Primi for a quick bite to eat before a show at Theatre on the Bay. It was 18:00 on a Wednesday evening and the restaurant was remarkably quiet - apart from us, there were only 2 other couples in the entire restaurant. It seems like we arrived just before the dinner rush, because by the time we were finished it was packed to the brim!

We only ordered mains, which arrived quite quickly. The bread before the food was quite old and dry, really not worth the extra calories! The mains were enjoyable, but nothing special. I like Primi's idea with an "upscale" meal - where you can order a larger portion for a couple of extra bucks. Their standard portions aren't that big, so this is a good option if you are hungry. The pastas are very spicy and I think they could perhaps go a bit easier on the chili. After all, you can always add a bit more if needed, but if it's already there then there's not much you can do. I felt my salmone pasta had very little salmon in it. Next time I'll remember to order it with extra salmon!

Overall, the food is average. Not a place I would go back to for the food, but perhaps sundowners on a nice summer evening with a couple of friends or drinks before a show.

There isn't much to say about Primi in general other than the fact that it's one of the cheaper restaurants in Camps Bay, so if you want to enjoy a nice view or have sundowners then I'd suggest coming here. Their boozy ice teas are definitely worth having a couple of though and should get you into the swing of a good night out in Camps Bay.

It was the hottest day in a long time on Tuesday and unfortunately I had to work. We decided not to waste the evening and pop around to camps bay. Pasta was the craving of the night so Primi is our go to place. The music was really loud. To a point we couldn't hear each other so conversation was kept to a minimum. Our waiter was also nonchalant, which is okay as we can't hear him anyway. I love the views from this place. You can see the beach and the rawkus people from a safe distance ! The food has always been great and Primi is a place I will never stop dining at. It's just sad they have had to scale down on ingredients, so their pasta is not as rich in flavour and colour as it used to be and the portions are smaller.

Came here for a corporate team lunch. The staff looked after us extraordinarily well, and the food was absolutely delicious.

I would highly recommend this venue for any large group events.

Quick , delicious, friendly service .... Flavoursome chicken spiedina, roast veg amazing and great spaghetti bolognese- in and out in 40 min๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Found this primi to be rather disappointing-very empty restaurant and yet the service is slow and not particularly friendly. They also were out of stock of two of the most basic ingredients which comprise at least 50% of their dishes. 1.5 out of 10

Primi is one of my favourite places to eat out. This branch however has given me the best service. The Pollo e pesto is so good. No Primi visit is a real visit without the chocolatye nemesis for dessert. Id literally have dessert for dinner. Its that amazing.

'Twas a beautiful day and decided that instead of being confined between 4 walls we decided to go for a midweek drive.

We stopped by here to order some takeout that would accompany us on our drive.

The staff was very welcoming and accommodated us efficiently even though we were just ordering something to-go. Our waiter was bubbly and seemed to cater for us without any hassle which is always a discreet deal breaker for me!

We ordered the Real Primivera, Recco Con Pollo and Recco Gamberi and Chai Lattes. As far as I'm concerned everyone thoroughly enjoyed their pastas and was indeed satisfied. Instead of choosing the manicotti, I should have chosen the alternative, which was the linguine pasta because my pasta was VERY filling and made me feel kind of bloated.

It is situated at a perfect spot overlooking the beautiful Camps Bay and I would highly recommend sitting down when going.

Don't waste your time. There are so many restaurants in Sea Point that are much better. Years ago Primi Piatti was a top quality chain, but has deteriorated over the years. Service isn't great, and the food is mediocre.
Lindie White
Although this venue is smaller than the other branches, it's perfect for a pre show dinner or brunch on a lazy day. Service is always spot on and the Primi menu is always a crowd pleaser with something for the hungry or not so hungry. Pizza or pasta are stock standards, but the warm beef or chicken salads are regular favourites.

So was feeling for pizza and couldn't decide where to go and just happened to be in Camps bay. Let me start by saying the service was outstanding. My waiter was very friendly and so were all of his colleagues. So big thumbs up for that. The food was pretty good this time round. Ambiance was also nice. All together a pleasant experience.

This Primi is like the leading beacon of light from all the Primi branches I've ever been to. Service is unparalleled, food is amazing and the atmosphere is cool and rustic.
This is a franchise that we have all probably experienced at one time or another, but unlike its bustling counterparts, the Camps Bay Primi has this unrivaled, slick vibe about it... Plus I really did enjoy my meal the most here from all the other Primi Piattis I've frequented (I had basil pesto pasta), so I would gladly stop by again... Even at the risk of paying no attention to the other vogue spots of the Promenade :'D

Started off great waiter was awesome and starters tops. Then it all went down hill wrong order twice on both mains and the second time my pasta came it was way under done. Poor....

Primi is turning into a staple. Often on a Sunday night we grab some pasta from the Camps Bay branch. I have my regular dish (avo and lemon) because it's so nice and light. My partner likes to try different options and everytime no matter what, it's just delicious. Speedy service and friendly staff.

This review could apply to any of the locations in CPT. Where did this brand go wrong? Before moving here, we holidayed for a number of years and Primi was unique, polished and an exciting place to eat. Interesting menu, orange jump suits and energy that Vida seems to have adopted. Interiors were industrial, dry goods stacked floor to ceiling and reasonably priced. They were the cool kids that weren't in the mall, but right next to it. Now, dreary would be doing the word dreary a disservice. Its like someone stripped the life out of every good idea they ever had. Food is appalling, service seems contrived and the menu is just weird. I think it would make it, if someone took it by the neck and said, right, time to go back to basics. But it probably makes money, with better margins and when it dies, it will have done its job. So sad.

So we decided to have breakfast at Primi in Camps Bay. Ordered the Chef's Breakfast with fried eggs, sunny side up. The breakfast was lovely apart from the eggs. They were runny and undercooked, near inedible (Pic attached). To my surprise I was charged extra for jam, first time I've ever seen that. Won't be coming back. Disappointed.

We decided to try out Primi for breakfast, the coffees were decent enough (since I appreciate a good cup). I had the omelette, with only one thin piece of toast. Everyone else had the chef's breakfast. All.of our eggs were quite underdone, the one was basically raw. And the fact that you have to pay for jam, is really not cool (esp since it's one of the normal plastic round All Gold jams). Ok, but I'll choose other places for breakfast next time.

I enjoyed having lunch here on Sunday. It's away from the bustle of people and you still get an amazing view! We had great service teamed with decent food. I chose a very simple pasta and my boyfriend chose a burger which I was eyeing out when our food arrived haha! (his looked better than mine). Nice for a simple lunch meal. ..maybe relaxed dinner too. Also, i saw people sitting along the pavement tables with their doggie chilling with them (on a lead and well behaved) while they waited for their meal, I liked this and then the waiter brought the doggie a bowl of water! :) ๐Ÿถ

How disappointing to have found a BUG yes an insect in your favourite pasta dish. We love Primi and decided to enjoy our favourite meals overlooking the fiesty winter ocean at Primi Camps Bay...definitely will not advise this outlet as food was disappointing as well as their service. Primi Table View is by far the very best!

I enjoy this spot on the camps bay strip away from the crowded eating / drinking spots frequented by the tourist trendoids , the setting is great behind glass depending on the weather and slightly elevated , alwAys good for a sundowner , snack or a meal. I will be back, I am a creature of habit , I can't help it.
Russ Meyer
Short of time in a crowded camps bay. Thought we would try an old favourite....
Remembered why we don't go there anymore. Terrible service. Not what it used to be.
Craig Leslie
Normally when I go here, I will sit down to enjoy a meal, and enjoy the vibe and range of meals however you should NEVER get a take away from Primi. We waited over 40 mins, the pasta dish was made but they forgot to process the pizza. When the pizza arrived we left, and at home we found that the pizza was EXTREMELY bland, and the pasta was such a small portion and over salted. Poor effort
Nhassim333
Worst service that I have ever experienced. Took an hour to receive a pasta that was as hard as a rock. Had to continuously ask the waiter about the food. Definitely not living up to the PRIMI service
James Hickman
It is obviously an Italian place but although the pizza and pastas are good I love the lamb chops. Always good and defiantly worth a try if you haven't had them before.

Location is great although parking can be a bigger. Only down side is the smoking section is directly below the windows, so if you are sat at the windows enjoying the sunset and someone is puffing, you are going to get a mouthful.
