Review Ocean Blue - Camps Bay

The food was really fresh. Love it. Good ambience. No WiFi. Not for budget eating but it's reasonably priced for seafood. Good service. There with friends and it was fun. We had a good time. On the beach front so watching the sunset was a treat.

Came for a drive through Camps Bay from Blouberg. Atmosphere did not disappoint. Was great vibe and service was excellent. Special breakfast was awesome at R60 and portions were generous. Coffee was very "Lekker". Had a look at the pizza menu which I thought was very well priced between R79 and R120. Has a great variety between fish, steak, salads, awesome wines, etc. I will most definitely recommend Ocean Blue.

Stunning setting with very good seafood!!! Service is very friendly and efficient!!! It has a lovy atmosphere and the view of the most magnificent sunsets from hear are absolutely amazing!!!!

Let me rate you guys 5 stars. From the moment we arrived, we were being greeted with respect and loads of energy. Our waitress, Bonita, did such a great job. By entertaining us and always made sure we were looked after. Your Strawberry Daiquiri was to die for aswell as your seafood meals. I had the Sea Food salad which was so juicy and my friends had the platter with lobster and side dishes which they also enjoyed. Above all, excellent service. Will definitely return and send my international/local guests to your beautiful establishment.

Not the best I've eaten at whilst in the Cape Town area but still pretty good. The food and service wasn't too bad. Good location for people watching as you eat also.

It's cool inside, has one male and female toilet. A great place to have drinks and seafood. A nice Setup for the restaurant and their drinks are great. We'll I like the energizer cocktails.

We ate the seafood platter for lunch and it was amazing. All the elements were cooked to perfection and the flavours and marinades were beautiful and delicious.

We had lunch at Ocean Blue on Christmas Day. Rochelle looked after our group of eight exceedingly well. The food was fabulous, their standard menu has something for everyone.

Had lunch yesterday. My calamari starter was delightful and my prawns were terrific too. My husbands Springbok loin was a bit tough but kudos to them they changed the meal without hesitation. Recommend this place.

Auf Grund der Bewertungen bei Facebook google und co haben mein Mann und ich den letzten Abend dort verbracht. In unseren zwei Wochen in Süd Afrika, war dieses mit Abstand, dass bescheidenste essen überhaupt. (Wir sind quer durch Süd Afrika gereist und haben sehr viele verschiedene Restaurants besucht) Das Service Personal hat sich zu Anfang bemüht, Rücksicht auf Allergien wurden genommen. Nachdem wir die Vorspeise verzehrt hatten (diese könnte man ganz ok bezeichnen) dauerte es ziemlich lange bis sich die Bedienung von ihrem Handy lösen könnte um den Tisch abzuräumen. Dann kam der Hauptgang. Bestellt war ein Filet (Medium) mit Beilagensalat und Pommes sowie ein Spieß (mix aus kudu, Strauß und Springbock) ebenfalls mit beilagensalat und Pommes. Es fehlt Geschmack, das Essen kam leider nicht ganz richtig bestellt an den Tisch und richtig heiss war es auch nicht. Steak war fast durch. Es kam (obwohl nicht bestellt) Gemüse dazu (kürbispüree und Spinat in Rahm) beides nicht zu empfehlen. Schmeckte alt, muffig und ohne jeglichen Geschmacks. Zum Dessert kann ich nichts sagen, denn dieses wurde uns nicht mehr angeboten, es kam gleich die Rechnung mit einem vermerkt, das kein Trinkgeld im Rechnungsbetrag enthalten ist. Nach einer wieder mal langen Wartezeit konnten wir dann bezahlen und sind gegangen. Alles in einem, der mit Abstand unschönste Abend im ganzen Urlaub.

I've been going to Ocean Blue for years and the food has always been superb. The staff are friendly and polite. The perfect restaurant for locals and tourists!

Popped in for a quick lunch and stayed the afternoon!. Good service and good food. Setting great and priced very reasonable. Will certainly visit again and leave the afternoon free!

Being in the service industry myself, I hate bad service. Bad service seems to be the order of the day wherever you go these days especially in the food industry. Ocean Blue was excellent, waitrons were friendly and clued up, the food was GOOD, we were happy. Thanks guys and keep it up.

We had a late dinner at Ocean Blue last night. They had some great specials. Lobster and prawn combo for R240 and all other combos for R145. The lobster and prawns were cooked to perfection and served with a simple lemon butter sauce. Our waiter Ramsey was friendly and efficient. It was a good value delicious end you our day.

My husband and I had such a wonderful lunch at Ocean Blue. There are lots of restaurants to choose from along Victoria Road in Camps Bay, but this one stood out because their seafood platters were priced to sell! We had shrimp, and lobster, and calamari oh my! The restaurant had a nice ocean vibe and we sat and ate leisurely while watching passers by. The food was yummy and so were the drinks! I’d love to go back the next time I’m in Cape Town.

We were walking down the Camps Bay strip this evening looking for a place for some food and drinks and every place was either too full or seriously overpriced.<br/><br/>Ocean Blue were advertising R50 cocktails so that sealed the deal. We ordered a cocktail each from the fruit cocktail section and they were both really good.<br/><br/>We decided to order a pizza to share, I can't remember the name of the pizza but it had mushrooms, feta and salami. It comes on a thin base but the flavour is amazing and we polished it off in no time.<br/><br/>I noticed the chips on the table next to us and they looked really good so I asked for a side order of chips... They didn't fail to impress. Service was also excellent.

Great view, fast / great service, however the food is bland. You’ll expect the food to be top notch, since (let’s face it) the food is not cheap. We had a seafood combo and a seafood salad, and it lacked spice and flavor all-round. Not a bad place, just a real pity the food is not up to standard.<br/><br/>The lobster tasted like plastic, and the seafood had no flavour.

Received a warm welcome, but waitress was very curt. I enquirer whether the Norwegian salmon was farmed or wild / imported and she told me it came in a box. She looked at me like I was crazy. I asked her to enquire from the chef and she proceeded to ask another waiter. She still came back unsure. The veg option was butternut and spinach. I feel for the price being charged that there should be better options than what Spur provides. <br/><br/>We left and paid for our water.

Service was good. Cocktails was excellent. We ordered game from the menu. Springbok and kudu fillet. Meat was done to perfection. But it was not game. It was the best beef fillet I had! It was not Springbok. So order beef fillet. Dont be fooled in thinking its game. Disappointed.

Great little activity packs for the kids kept them busy, this was a big plus. <br/><br/>Food was very good and we thought that the service was also great.

It was a spur-of-the-moment decision from family members to go one Sunday evening even though I didn't know this place at all. Nonetheless, on arrival, the atmosphere was still electric 👌 and upon receiving my meal, the calamari was superb. Looking forward to my next visit again soon if it's the will of the Lord. Well done to the staff 👏.

We didn’t receive complimentary focaccia like the other tables did which was quite awkward and we had about 4 different waiters which got annoying. R15 oysters will be the only reason I come back.

I think this is my new favourite place in Camps Bay. The seafood is so fresh that it's ocean fresh. I ordered a dozen of oysters only to have my friends polish some off for me. The complimentary garlic focaccia that they served was an amazingly delicious yummy. Then the secret chilling sauce... we polished off 2 bowls of the sauce. The waiter was far too kind! I would totally go back here for the ocean on my plate experience again

Love the setting. Peaceful and beachy. Decent view of the Ocean. The staff is attentive,but I felt the food took a tad too long to get to us. Their shellfish is divine! The seafood pasta was delicious and quite filling. The dessert rounded the meal off quite nicely: spongy and not too sweet. Would absolutely return. Quite ideal for those quick summer lunches before returning to the beach.

Best location, friendly service and delicious food! Don't hesitate to have breakfast, lunch or dinner there - in fact, all three will be good too...

What makes Ocean Blue such a spectacular restaurant is the fact that it is set on the promenade of Camps Bay. This is the ideal spot to have a wonderful time with friends, enjoy great food and do some people watching. Priced more towards the higher end, I must say you definitely get what you pay for. I enjoyed a wonderful breakfast and I had a lovely Americano coffee. I would most certainly recommend Ocean Blue to anyone who would like to have a sidewalk dining experience with fresh sea air. Food is well prepared and service feels personal. Love this place. Go! Now!

Great value for money breakfasts. Meals might not be the most sophisticated but large enough portions given the price. Ideal place to visit on a busy morning when one just wants to grab a quick bite with the least amount of fuss.

The restaurant has a great location, right by the ocean. But the food is very average. And the service is just bad. Food takes so long to arrive, you would not believe it.  Would not be so keen to go back here.

The service is bad. But the manager is the only one working, friendly and helpful. The food is ok. The decoration can be better. The restaurant have a reasonable list of wine.

Clearly only caters for overseas money, the catch of the day left me broke and hungry, fine dining does not have to be this expensive or am I just under paid? I'm not complaining about the service or quality but the quantity for the price is not worth it for me...

Went there on the 28th of August. My friend had the seafood pasta and I had the sole. The pasta was bland and lacking flavour, she didn't even eat 3/4 of her meal due to disappointment.<br/>My sole was very dry, and needed some seasoning as well. For a R185 and R195 meal, you would expect to get decent food. I guess we only paid for the seaside view...

Whenever I’m at the beach, enjoying a day in the sun, swimming in the icy Atlantic, and climbing over and under Cape Town’s beautiful rocks, I have this uncontrollable desire for seafood. Sometimes I find that a little macabre, but I reason that it’s the nice weather that makes me want to eat something light and fresh. Unfortunately my favourite beach to visit is near Camps Bay, and, given the beachfront strip’s luxurious feel and matching prices, that’s not really the place for a mellow seafood meal! Lucky for me then that sometimes I’m in luck with specials, and Ocean Blue had just what I wished for.

We came across this place walking along the beach in Cape Town, Camps Bay. The pizza we had was yummy. The margarita's were stunning and only for R35 so we ordered a few more! The service however I think was just boring and okay. The waiter didn't take his time with taking our order and having a conversation. He just kept on running past our table taking stuff and throwing remarks. Not appreciated. <br/><br/>The scenery is just lovely. We also were in luck with the little African girls doing performances across the road. I love the sound of an African drum so I was in heaven.<br/><br/>Oh yes, the decor is lovely too! Sitting outside is great on a summers day but should be cosy and beachy inside too!<br/><br/>Anyway, overall okay place... wouldn't go back here again though.

Had a shocking lunch here today.Typical Tourist trap.I had a Thai Chicken salad,still looking for the Chicken,basically a bowl of lettuce.My wife ordered a Seafood salad which was inedible,Calamari overcooked,Mussels like rubber,some kind of dried up fish bits and the lettuce consisted of the centre veins.Requested a Seafood dressing and all they had was Thousand Island out of a bottle.No finger bowl or similar or dish for shells.As a non tourist very disappointing,do not recommend.

We have been to ocean blue 3 times in a row now ( our new local). From magnificent views , to delicious food and even better service! Between the 3 of us we had the grilled calamari, kingklip and prawns. The seafood is definitely the best in Cape Town and the side vegetables are something else! The service was also impeccable, the managers and waiters made us feel at home and catered to our every need. Would highly recommend this restaurant to any one!! Can't wait to go back!

Disappointing meal. <br/>Mushroom sauce was sour , prawns mushy and fish overdone! Basting on steak was not asked for and spoiled it ! Poor excuse for a side salad served with the steak.Service was good and manager stepped up to sort out the sour sauce but point is it should never have left the kitchen. At R350 per head not a great result.

This restaurants speciality is there service . I was there 3times this weekend and every time it was awsome . We had our 34th aniversary here also. And the food devine . I told the manager his people are the best. I will go there the moment I am back in the cape . Do not miss this.

In an area that is renowned for being over-priced, Ocean Blue is a refreshing change! With awesome prices, you don't lose any quality and the few times I've dined there, the food has never let me down! The surf and turf is out of this world! A new feature is the pizza menu which is a great addition to the awesome setting. The service is always fast, friendly and unimposing. I can't wait to go back!

Ocean blue is a nice seafood restaurant at the end of the buzzing Victoria Street in Camps Bay, the interior is cosy and has a warm feel to it.<br/><br/>Garlic focaccia was a great start to the dinner, I ordered a baby lobster with 6 Queen prawns, the lobster was grilled nicely and remained juicy and tasty, the "queen" prawns were a bit on the small side and could have been overcooked, as they were on the soft side, all in all not a bad meal and I would def come back.

Excellent service, friendly staff, delicious food, elegantly decorated, with a great view. I'm happy! :) I will definitely come back when I am back in Cape Town. Would recommend!

What an absolutely shocking experience! The service was non-existent (we literally saw our waitress once) and the food was beyond average. Our food took forever and when it did actually arrive it was measly and not cooked the way we had asked! Such a disappointment!

What a DISASTER! My family and I went to Theatre on the Bay to watch a show and, for convenience sake, decided to go for dinner in Camps Bay afterwards. We booked at Ocean Blue, based on decent reviews and an enticing looking menu. However, appearances are truly unreliable because our experience was appalling. It took 10 minutes to get enough menus for 5 and we were not given a hint of service for at least 20 minutes after that. We got some free focaccia, cool, thanks, but it doesn't take lot of effort to place a basket of bread on a table. <br/><br/>My dad had the pangasius and my sisters, my mum and I had the calamari and prawn combo but we were not even asked how we would like our calamari prepared. After half an hour, my dad had to enquire about our order and we still waited another 10 minutes after being reassured that "our meals were being plated". We were eventually presented with the most unappetizing looking meals. My dad asked for his fish to be grilled- he got two pathetic, thin little pieces of fried fish. We got deep fried calamari-which we do not particularly like- and we were told that actually the combo only comes with fried calamari. However, the waitress failed to inform us of this little conditionality when we ordered.<br/><br/>The prawns were relatively tasty but nothing special. My dad was incredibly disappointed with his measly portion of fish and said it was actually terrible. <br/><br/>The highlight of my meal was probably the side salad and the taste I had of my sister's side order of butternut. <br/><br/>If you want to go to go for dinner in Camps Bay, please don't set yourself up for disappointment by choosing Ocean Blue.

This is probably the most affordable spot on the Camps Bay strip, and the cocktail specials are really decent. I've tried a few of the pizzas on the menu, which were all very tasty. The service is excellent but the place doesn't have as nice a view as some of the other restaurants along the street. A regular stop for me, nevertheless!

Great location. Had the prawn and lobster platter, well sized portions and the food was great. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Specials were very enticing and overall atmosphere was good.

Lovely place ,very cosy setting .They have 30 rand cocktail special which is great value .they constantly have specials on their main dishes as well.oysters are on special as well @10 rand for one .got the grilled fish and chips with creamy spinach and butternut for 89 Rand .I enjoyed the service ,the manager is proactive and helpful

I wouldn't visit again. Food came slowly and portions not great. Steak was dry and presentation was basic. Expected more from a restaurant on the best ocean strip in Cape Town. Table of 8. :(

The king clip and steak are great. Had the prawn and lonefish combo and the linefish was kind of soggy and not too great. But a nice place to eat and chill<br/><br/>Came back here

Definitely a cool place to chill with prime beach viewing. Food was a delight and definitely worth it when u tired of the old Ocean Basket. Service was good with good explanation of menu and specials. Prices reasonable restaurant and overall nice Late Sunday lunch place to be. Enjoy!

I have been a regular customer at Ocean Blue for several years. I had my 60th and my daughter her 18th birthday celebrations there and they were amasing. It is one of Cape Town's best kept secrets. I eat out regularly and "OB's" as we call it is one of if not the best value for money seafood restaurants around. Their combos' for lunch or dinner currently at R89 for winter season are incredible value and offer amazing quality. If you want a real treat try one of the sea food platters. I can recommend everything form fish and chips to the oysters and lobster. They offer a "morning glory breakfast " for R35 - steak, bacon, eggs, tomato, mushroom, toast etc. Don't know how they do it. I see there was a review posted commenting on bad service. Well it must have been the only off day in an age as I have always found them to be warm and friendly offering swift service in a very relaxing setting. This place was deplorable! Never received such disgusting service. Food wasn't anywhere near good enough to make up for the complete disregard for customer service.

R35 for any breakfast, virtually on the beach... When the restaurants next-door can't beat R100? With friendly service and generous portions to boot... What's not to like?
