Great place, excellent food and service. If you’re in South Africa, you should definitely try this place to have some amazing meat experience. Ribeye or Sirloin are the recommended ones with fries on the side. Attendants are nice and enthusiastic! Really recommend.

A safe bet for a good steak on William Nicol. Solid wine selection as one has come to expect from any Turn ‘n Tender. I prefer this free standing restaurant in the Nicolway centre. It means that you have good parking close to the restaurant, but don’t have the bustle of the shopping centre. It has nice sunset views from the verandah.

Turn ‘n Tender really knows how to do a good grill. They have spectacular ribs, and I had mine with pap and sous with onions. They had a heavenly BBQ basting on them that just made them sweet and sticky. The pap was creamy and soft, just like how you should do it in South Africa. The seating is comfortable and the decor and atmosphere is subtle and inviting. Definitely coming back soon to try some more awesome food!

It is not recommended to go when steaks are on special because they serve you such rough ones that are not even chewable. The usual meats are nice though. The best steakhouse 💓

Had a business meeting scheduled at Nicol Way and the initial place was fully booked. I proposed Turn n Tender. When we got there, the place was semi-full but had space for us. We were shown to our table and drinks orders were taken. On arrival of the drinks, food orders were taken. Didn’t wait long for the fillet and lamb loin chops to arrive. Done to our liking. Good all round experience.

Honestly one of the best restaurants in this town. The food is always spectacular, and the service is always amazing! Anything that you order will be amazing, however their chicken livers are arguably the best in town, and their pork loin ribs are also amazing! Would definitely recommend.

This place is amazing but you certainly don't expect tough steak from a outlet whose business is doing hopefully good steak. I had the point Rump which was horribly tough and my partner had the Rump which also was tough. Not sure what else to say. If your business is meat, do good meat otherwise you should not be in that market

The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The food was great! I ordered a medium sirloin. I suggest that if you order rare/medium steak, tell them not to put it on the hot stone plate because it will keep cooking while the kitchen prepares the rest of your table’s food. <br/>So in the end, my medium steak became well done.

I wasn't always a fan, but this steak restaurant has really upped its game over the last few years (in my opinion).<br/><br/>Good service, good vibe...had the fillet steak cut for two with two sides and two sauces for a very reasonable R415 and it was done to perfection!<br/><br/>...and I must admit, I'm a steak snob!<br/><br/>Great wine selection to pair with your steak to top it off!<br/><br/>Will definitely be back for some winter dinners!

Went here for a casual midweek dinner. We didn't book a place, the place was full and we were put on the waiting list. We sat by the couch area and were offered drinks while waiting. Good atmosphere. Needed Aircon though was very hot and stuffy. Continuously smelt cigarette smoke through the night while we were eating which was very unpleasant maybe the section outside had smoking allowed and every time the doors opened the smell kept wafting in. The starter plates were very good and especially the pulled lamb portions were excellent I would have enjoyed them as a main meal they were so tasty. All the starters were excellent. With the main meal however the side salad was very average, the onion rings were terrible and soggy, the fillet was cooked to perfection though we didn’t order an extra sauce so I think they just use HP sauce on the steak which is quite intense and not too palatable. The waiters were excellent and knew their stuff though they sometimes tend to get a bit too much and pushy and loud and in your face while trying to be polite. They were too much on top of you. I’m not sure if I would go back again. I would have rated a three star but I can not tolerate the smell of cigarette smoke and due to the fact that I smelt it constantly I changed the rating to a two star. Sorry. Food turn around far too long! Table of 6 only 2 starters- waited almost 2 hrs for mains and not busy! Sent steak 2x back - ordered rare came blue! Starters trinchado and snails don’t bother - tasteless!Mess up paying machine! However, waiter tried his best.

I usually go to the TnT in Dainfern and have never been disappointed so my expectations were high for TnT at Nicolway. The decor is cleverly done so you don't feel like you're in a large restaurant; it has a relaxed intimate feel. The wine list has great options for all tastes and budgets. I had calamari to start, 200g fillet for mains and the creme brûlée for dessert. The calamari and creme brûlée were excellent, and although my steak was tasty and obviously of good quality, I asked for my steak to be done blue, and received something closer to medium rare. This isn't acceptable for a steak house. On the plus, my partner had the chicken livers and oxtail for mains and raved about both. He was also impressed with the generous portions. The wait staff are very friendly and in general the service was excellent. The only other negative was the host who greeted us at the door. I'm using the word "greet" euphemistically. He was rude and continually chewed gum which made him look sloppy and unprofessional. All in all I'd go back, provided I don't have to deal with that host again

Went for supper. Asked to follow front of house to a table only to be told it doesn't exist but if I wait a while they will create one in the veranda. Almost like saying at payment time. Follow me and let's see if we can find my credit card. Terrible service. Rather be honest that there is no place as they full. Not sure I will be back again. Service is dropping faster than the ethics of our leaders.

This was my first visit to a Turn n Tender outlet. The restaurant is well spaced between the tables and although very busy it was still a relatively relaxed atmosphere. The wine list is limited, but well priced. As we did not have a lot of time we went straight for the main course and decided to order the 700 gm fillet for 2 with a choice of starch, vegetables and 2 sauces. The steak was excellent and cooked as requested medium rare with chilli basting. What let the meal down however were the sauces otherwise I would have ranked them them a 4. I always order sauces served seperately so they can be taste tested before using as an accompaniment. The sauces definitely need to be worked on to compare with other good steakhouses. In spite of the sauce I would return to this Turn n Tender.

Average, very average. I went here with my family thus evening and I must say I was underwhelmed. I initially expected this place to be in between somewhere like the meat company and the butchers grill, however at this point I'd rather go to the Meat Company even if they are hit and miss because they offer value for money. The meat here is highly under seasoned even with a basting, which is a shame considering the quality of meat is not bad at all. For the price I paid I would've expected the plate to include a generous side if there are no onion rings etc included in the plate, however I had to compromise half of my initial choice to add on a second side which was only a spoon full. There are no table sides either on the menu such as veg for the table which is disappointing. The cocktails we had were also rather watered down and bland. Over all a very average experience. I won't be coming back soon again just because you pay high prices for very little in return.

Went to this Turn n Tender branch during the birthday special. I went around 15h00 so I missed the lunch rush and they were not so busy. We ordered the birthday special. When the steaks arrived they were both under down. I don't think that I will be returning to this branch in comparison to the others it isn't up to standard.

Before Sunday, I had never heard of this place before. I went with friends and we were all drawn to the Sunday burger special. Unfortunately it didn't look as good as it did on the advertisement. As soon as I put the top bun on, my bun crumbled. It was clear that the buns that were used weren't fresh. Our waitress provided us with amazing service and when she saw that we were unhappy she called the manager. The manager assured us that the buns are delivered fresh every morning, but the buns that he was talking about and the buns we had received were clearly not the same buns. He was very polite and took the burgers away while offering to take them off the bill because he could see that they were painful to eat. It's always nice to go to a place that takes responsibility for their shortfalls in the end. The waitressing staff really is out of this world and the overall restaurant feel is comfortable.

Lunch today with my son who had rib eye on the bone and I had 500g T-Bone both with veg and chips, perfect medium rare steaks and delicious veg, one of the best steak houses in Joburg, was quite empty I think due to the nation being in depression.

My hubby and I had an amazing dinner here this evening. What an awesome experience. We were made to feel special from the moment we walked in with a warm welcome, big smiles and friendly faces. We ordered the 700g fillet steak to share, which was carved right at our table. This came with 2 sides (we opted for mash and a baked potato), as well as 3 sauces, cheese, mushroom and blue cheese. Throw in 2 extra sides of Greek salad and crispy onion rings and we had a proper feast. Everything was done to perfection. The steak was perfectly medium rare and the mash was heavenly. I'd go back just for the mash alone..it was that good. We had a top class waiter by the name of Caesar and the ambiance was so laid back and relaxing with dimmed lighting and soothing background music. The perfect place to unwind and fill up on good hearty food after a long day at the office. Wow!! These guys deserve 10 stars, I highly recommend them.

Always great service and always great food. I usually order the lamb chops and request a side of basting. The basting is delicious so I sometimes ask for my chops to be served basted. This is not on the menu but management is more than happy to assist with requests such as this. Food is always fresh and delicious. The only reason they don't get a higher score is because oftheir desserts, seems like prepacked mousse, etc, which is not ideal for a restaurant of this stature.

My review is purely based on my order via UberEats. I ordered 2 ice cream sandwiches which were R50 each and I was so disappointed when we received it. The driver took a long time to deliver and hence the ice cream melted. It is also disappointing that Turn and Tender do not have correct packaging for their desserts to keep them cool - we received them in a brown paper bag. Maybe it's best not to have them on the UberEats menu if it cannot be transported. The cookies were delicious but it is hard to rate the dessert as a whole.

Another overpriced restaurant not delivering value for money. It was a dinner with family last night and we ordered a chicken liver starter and a sirloin steak main, the chicken livers was very poor - under-seasoned and lacking any flavour. The sirloin was overcooked (I requested medium rare), and was again under-seasoned and smothered in a lack lustre basting sauce. They claim it was Aged Karan Beef but it was a very average piece of meat. For dessert we had a lemon cheesecake parfait which was a poor attempt at a parfait. Don't waste your money going to this place, if you want a good steak, buy a good quality cut and make it at home.

A group of us usually enjoy going out to this Turn n Tender for lunch, today however was a horrible experience.I called and made a booking for 12 people for 1pm , we get to the restaurant and the waiters are making us walk all around the restaurant looking for our table. which they gave  to someone else, anyway we gave our orders in at 13.10pm, we were then seated and no one bothered to take our drinks orders , eventually we called a waiter to take our order and he then calls another waiter to do it , then they all stand next to our table fighting with each other about who should take our order! we waited a while, at 13.50 we still did not have our food so we called a manager and the food arrived 10 minutes later...after all that they still have the nerve to charge us a service fee!

Last minute decision to head to Turn 'n Tender Bryanston, so we hadn't made a booking but they managed to fit us in! Had the biltong carpaccio for starters which was very good! And then I had the biltong and cheese burger which was up there with one of the best burgers I've eaten. Food came out the kitchen VERY quickly... and service was good! <br/><br/>A little hiccup with the card machine meant we had to sit around for 30 minutes while they sorted it out. But everything else was spot on.. good night out!

Had dinner here on a Friday evening when it was really busy. <br/><br/>Service was pretty great considering how packed it was, I didn't feel like we had to hunt someone down to assist us.<br/><br/>I'm not a huge meat eater but the food was really delicious. I tried the steak tartare and the rump. Which tasted like really fresh and well prepared meat. For dessert I also tried the sticky toffee pudding and the creme brûlée. The creme brûlée was alright but the pudding was pretty delightful. <br/><br/>All in all, I would come back to try a whole bunch of other things on the menu

Wine list is superior. Impossible to go with out a booking in the evening. They don't always answer their phone. Fillet strips are delicious as are their chips. Their burgers have dropped in quality with the last one we had tasting "off" was over cooked and the beef was "bitty" or had bits of hard fat or sinew/cartlidge.

Turn 'n Tender is a typical traditional South African statehouse with great specials and good service.<br/><br/>Either on a Friday lunchtime or for a celebratory meal our work crew does a quick pitstop at the "T&T" Nicolway. <br/><br/>They offer a regular lunch special which is typically a meat and a side. For example a chop, boerie and chips or a steak and salad. Aside from being incredibly well priced (ranging between R 69 - R85, it is tasty. <br/><br/>Recently I thought I would venture into the unknown and I tried their Steak Tartare (R 85). It is a rustic, build your own, which is fun. The quality of the beef was good however the accompaniments could have been less and prepared more finely. I think I will stick to their lunchtime specials or their steaks!

I really enjoy this restaurant the food is good I had the most perfectly cooked steak I love medium rare and it was perfect. They have great sides not just chip or creamed spinach, they have stir fried veg and pap, it's such a nice surprise. There staff are so well trained our waitress was fantastic she was kind and friendly. Great place.

Went out for drinks and a light meal with a friend on Friday. I'd be lying if I said that we didn't enjoy ourselves, but that would bebecause of the company and definitely not because of the restaurant. I haven't had service that bad in a while. We had no idea who our waiter was, it seemed to be 4 different people throughout the night. The glasses weren't clean. I waited forever for a straw (which I'd asked for and reminded the waiter about several times). I ordered a single starter and two small plates arrived (we foolishly thought that they had split my starter into two portions, since I had expressly asked for only one, then bill arrived and we saw that they had charged us for two). The service didn't improve as the night came to an end and after most of the people had left. On a positive note; we sat in the outside area and didn't even feel the cold because they had heaters set up, the atmosphere was really nice (outside - inside was chaos) and the calamari starter was really quite yummy.

The chips were cooked well in clean oil and the blue cheese sauce delicious. I also had a glass of house chardonnay at a reasonable R45 a glass. All in all a great experience and I'll be back!

Absolutely fantastic! After the meal (3 perfectly done medium rare steaks) they asked us to rate service, food and our overall experience at the restaurant and we have a 5+. <br/><br/>For brilliant service - food that arrived perfectly made, in good time and just a fantastic waiter (Andile) who did everything he could to ensure a perfect birthday dinner for my dad! <br/>For excellent food - a medium rare that was medium rare, delicious sauces, best quality meat and delicious desserts! <br/>Overall experience - warmly greeted and taken to our table (good thing we booked!), service with attention and the managers were everywhere checking on tables. <br/><br/>All in all - we will most certainly be going again!

Went for a quick lunch here. I ordered their lunch special 200g rump with chips and my husband ordered the 300g rump with chips and vegetables. My husband found his meal more than satisfactory. I however, had a terrible cut of steak -not aged at all tasted as though I even had a different basting to him. It just irritates me that there is a lunch "special" and then it is not on par with the other food. There are far better steak houses in Johannesburg. Won't be back in a hurry.

Good solid steakhouse fare. Ribs always good, steaks have just the right succulence when ordered medium. Used to have some unusual standout dishes such as lamb tails and duck wings but these seem to have sadly disappeared.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Turn N Tender Bryanston on a friends recommendation. :) What a pleasure this was. <br/><br/>For starters we had the perfectly cooked Osso Bucco. So delicious and with a tangy tomato sauce. The flavours blended well and the hint of citrus just brightened up the tomato sauce. <br/><br/>For mains my date and I had the rump - medium rare and rare for me. What a treat, the steak was melt in your mouth good, hot and well seasoned. <br/><br/>The sides ranged from onion rings to mussels to spinach and everything was absolutely amazing. Tasty, well textured and totally complimentary to the steak main. The gravy on the pap needed a bit more flavour but overall it was good.<br/><br/>Dessert - ah yes, dessert. I'm a creme Brulee fanatic. I make a point of having this dessert at every restaurant I can. This one was well textured and flavoured but it was cold in the middle. But good overall.<br/><br/>The service is great, we had a very attentive waiter and the management staff are friendly and accommodating. <br/><br/>I will definitely be back again and again

Went with some friends for dinner. Love the setup!! stunning setting. service was decent but nothing extravagant. The food however.... was like the service.... nothing extravagant. My partner asked for medium-rare lamb chops and they came back medium-well done.... same with my sirloin. Don't try the dessert. Just not worth it. It was a good evening, buuut probably will not be back anytime soon....

We came here as a party of 20 for my friends birthday. Usually tables of this size are hard to keep track of but our waiter Donald took down orders methodically and efficiently and managed to get everything right which is admirable. It was also Turn 'n Tender's birthday at the time so we got 300g steaks for R39 - a real bargain, my friend also received a bottle of wine at the end of the meal for her birthday which was a really nice touch. The food was good and we wouldn't hesitate to go back!

Lovely seating area that's great for business types having lunch. We came for the birthday special, who can say no to R39 steaks.<br/><br/>The waiter was a bit rude when we got there but it was super busy so it's understandable. They were obviously prepared for the rush because our steaks came out in about 5 minutes after ordering. Delicious sirloin as usual, though I asked for medium rare and it was leaning closer to medium and the side orders were a smaller portion than usual. Otherwise everything was excellent.

It was the turn n tender anniversary special that pulled us in to Nicolway for a bite. And we weren't the only ones who knew about it. The restaurant was busy busy busy. That didn't stop the service though. The steak came out in less than 15 minutes from when we placed the order and was delicious. Strangely enough before our drinks. But that didn't put a damper on the bustling atmosphere which made for a trendy, fast paced, modern vibe which although unlike most of the other more intimate and romantic turn 'n tenders was still a fun and refreshing experience.

Had dinner at the Bryanston TnT on Sunday evening with a group of friends. I've always visited the Illovo branch (which is fab!), so I had high hopes. Bryanston TnT's ambience and restaurant set up and decor is definitely better but unfortunately service and food is a huge let down. <br/><br/>I ordered the steak 'n calamari combo with a side of stir fry veg. My steak was well done instead of rare and had to be sent back. Our waiter didn't seem to be too pleased about that. My calamari was perfectly cooked and nicely seasoned however, my stir fry was the saddest sight. It consisted of a few leaves of spinach, 2 slices of cut up corn on the cob and some julienne carrots. In total, it took me 4 bites (barely) to finish it. Probably should have ordered the creamed spinach/butternut/cabbage combo to make it more worthwhile. Or just some good old chips. Moral of the story? Don't bother eating healthy. <br/><br/>Overall, everyone at the table seemed to have been quite pleased with their food. The dessert menu needs some attention though. The chocolate volcano cake probably shouldn't be called a volcano cake.. It's misleading. Muffin would suit it better. <br/><br/>I hope I just caught them on a bad day. Will definitely return and hopefully next time I won't be watching everyone else eat whilst I drool and wait for my steak to be redone.

Just went to Turn and Tender to have their delicious anniversary steak.<br/>The steak was juicy and a generous cut, the basted sauce added smoothly towards the overall tenderness of the steak and really helped in making it a "Mouth watering" experience.<br/><br/>Didn't have much to drink (just a still water), but their service in delivering this was quick and attentive.<br/><br/>Speaking about service, our waiter was friendly, to the point and wasted no additional time in trying to get us our food and drinks as soon as possible.<br/><br/>The ambience of the place was comfortable in a family restaurant kind of way. Wow - the waiter we had (Charles) was truly so professional, friendly and attentive! The first time KevFabFood has been shown all the steaks on offer and explained on the various cuts and also various sauces. The food was phenomenal - fillet on the bone was delicious and my hubby truly enjoyed the beef ribs. We have waited a while for a chance to get a table as they are always booked and I can see why! Bravo to the entire team!

So on Friday night my boyfriend and I were craving a great steak tartar and we looked around all over, and then he remembered having amazing steak tartar at turn and tender so we went out for dinner luckily it was opened till 10pm to drink he had beer and I had a strawberry daiquiri which is also very good one of the best cocktails I had for starters my boyfriend had deep fried biltong and I had peri peri calarmi for mains my boyfriend had steak tartar I snuck in a few bites it was delicious and I had a grilled steak with mash and onion rings sadly the waiter didn't bring us the onion rings with our dinner but upon looking at our bill we brought it to the managers attention and he wanted to take it off our bill, the waiter had apologized and brought it as a takeaway for us we had no space for desert, will definitely go back just for steak tartar....

The best part of the meal was...............the mints that came with the cheque. Seriously, theyre great mints. But as for the food, ordered chicken espetada, it came RAW! sent it back and it came back as rubber, didn't eat it, just had the mash, still got charged. TnT in Illovo is great, but the bryanston franchise needs to wake up. Their steaks are average too. Rather goto Licorice if you're at Nicolway, there's a reason why there are always tables available at Tnt.

Had a late lunch there yesterday, and was not the best I've ever had. My partner and I both had fillets, mine was cooked fine but hers for medium/rare was over done. The infamous chimmi churro sauce was also very vinegary, and we had to send the baked potato back as it wasn't cooked properly. Overall service was good, but they seem to have dropped in food standard and that's disappointing.

Not a bad option if you want a perfectly cooked steak in the Bryanston area. The quality of the meat available is top notch and the chef knows the difference between medium-rare, medium and medium-well. <br/><br/>The only downside is that its a bit too much of a "family" restaurant. Be ready to listen to "happy birthday" at least three times during your dinner. The waiters tend to try too hard to be your buddy and in the process lose that professional touch. If you're willing to drive a bit further, rather go to the Parktown branch.

I have been twice to have the lamb steak on someone's recommendation. You have mine to do the same. It is outstanding! A tender, tasty treat that is covered in a a rich reduction and butter beans on a criminally creamy mash.<br/>Along with a rare Jozi view and service that is hard to come by these days, it will make for a regular sunset visit.

Loved the vibe of this place. The waitresses are very friendly, they actually interact with the customers like they are actually interested. One went to pay our tickets downstairs for us, these are honestly the type of things that make me go visit a restaurant time and time again!<br/><br/>I had my go-to meal, pork ribs. They were amazing😋 I normally just go to Licorish as a default, but Turn 'n Tender seem to be giving Licorish a run for their money. Awesome experience👌🏾👌🏾

Still one of my favorite steakhouses. We were a large work group for a birthday lunch. Service was great, food was good and the wine selection excellent. Must try the fillet on the bone... The only problem is the Madagascar Pepper sauce is a little bit bland.

Very average steak house. Nice ambience and service. The ribs are good and the kids ask to go just for the ribs. It has never been a restaurant of choice when dining without the kids. There are much better restaurants in the Nicolway centre

One would think that TnT would never set a foot wrong but alas my experience last night was a starter away from terrible... The service was okay and not as attentive as usual and because they had closed the additional space by the wine cellar we all seemed to have been squished inside with not much room between tables. I want to start with our mains... The table had ordered a variety of steaks, fillet, rump and sirloin all three came to the table and were not prepared to our request either over or under done. The ribs were okay however  far cry from the fall off the bone melt in the mouth description seen on the menu. The only person who actually enjoyed their main was the person who ordered the fish... The only saving grace were the starters, the fillet strips, calamari and chicken livers were absolutely delicious, kinda wish they came in larger portions... I have been here on numerous times before this but wow what a lackluster showing:(

Six of us went to dinner at Turn and Tender, Bryanston, last night.<br/>Service was fantastic - waiters on the ball and quick to get orders taken and brought to us.<br/>Steaks were superb - although steamed veg wasn't the greatest. Deserts looked great and the women in our party enjoyed both the size and taste of their orders. <br/>Overall better experience than in the past.

Can't ever go wrong with a night out at Turn 'n Tender. Food is always good and the staff are just fantastic!! They always make an extra effort with my two year old daughter which impresses me every single time. When in doubt on where to go for a great steak, don't even think twice, hit T'nT!!

We chose Turn 'n Tender because they have succulent prime cuts of steak, overly attentive staff and they go the extra mile for special occasions.<br/><br/>During the festive season this restaurant is notoriously busy, but they managed to squeeze us in for a 21st dinner. This for me is what I love about this restaurant - they have incredible service. The staff from the moment we arrived were friendly and the manager comes to your table more than once to have a conversation with you. We were sitting outside and the manager brought us a blanket to make sure that we would not get cold. <br/><br/>As they are known for their steaks, my boyfriend opted for one. It looks small, but that small portion is more than enough as it is quite rich (according to the birthday boy). I not being a fan of red meat, ordered a chicken schnitzel with a side order of seasonal vegetables. They have a variety of sauces to choose from and I decided to order their authentic mushroom sauce. I say authentic as some restaurants opt for powder based sauces. <br/><br/>We ended off the night with all of the staff singing happy birthday and then they brought out a red velvet cupcake as well as shooters for all of us to enjoy. I liked this throughly as this allowed everyone to be included in the celebrations.

We did not book but took achance anyway. The host was so friendly and helpful and we were seated immediately. For such a busy restaurant the service was stunning, the vibe stunning and the food to die for! And the best of all is you do not wait long for your food! Love it!
