Review Parilla Bar And Grill - Bryanston

Big "footsteps" to fill from being A Baron to change to Jozi Gin Bar.... Nevertheless, we gave it a try... We did not have food , so the review will be updated and edited upon our return to be spoiled by your gourmet foods and menu. Welcoming staff and manager.... Sat at the bar - great atmosphere.. clean and tidy again, the smaller things that make a difference, no pub vibe smell. ... Will definitely come back to enjoy your menu soon, soon!

Our visit to this place was an absolute blast! It's a groovy hangout spot with an awesome vibe that perfectly complemented our team-building adventure at Jozi X. After a day filled with paint and fun challenges, we were looking for a relaxed setting to unwind, and this place delivered on that front. What really stood out was the super-chilled atmosphere. The staff here made us feel right at home, and their welcoming attitude added to the overall positive experience. Whether it was the cozy seating, great music, or tasty treats, everything contributed to the relaxed vibe. If you're searching for a place to wind down with friends or colleagues after an exciting day out, I highly recommend giving this spot a try. It's the ideal destination for those seeking a laid-back and enjoyable hangout.

Amazing food. Awesome cocktails. Great service. Gets even better after dark on a Friday. There's a DJ so if like a vibey spot to be seen at, this place is got it all

Good coffee. Lovely calamari starter although coleslaw was quite vinegary. Crumbed chicken and salad were very good

I had a Dom Pedro first, which was delicious. Then onto the food, the chef was kind enough to let me edit my meal đŸ€— I enjoyed it very much, even took some home (that’s how big the portions are). Lastly I moved onto the cocktails mmmm. Forgot to take pictures, will do next time. Waiters are also very attentive and warm.

It was lovely! Service 10/10 they were generous, kind and patient. The pizza one - meaty, one veggie. Both absolutely delicious! Best pizza I've had in JHB! Thank you a tonne!

Love the decor and feel of the restaurant area. Great vibe with Brent Harris and Thee Jam. (They are brilliant, will definitely come back for them) Food could be better.

Really nice vibe. Great music. We celebrated my friends 40th here. Had a great time

Really good steaks. They do make them on the rarer side so if you usually order medium, rather order medium to well done. Nice decor and atmosphere and good service. Would recommend

Been here a few times and have never had a bad meal - not cheap but the food is delicious. Their gin menu is extensive. Nice vibe, friendly service and not a long wait for meals. Recommended the chicken livers or the halloumi bowl. The buttermilk chicken burger is also impressive and tasty.

22.10.2019 I've been wanting to try this place for a while, and have seen some reviews done by friends. Its replaced the Baron which was a firm favourite for most in the area for after work drinks and catchups.

It's got a lovely looking bar and quite well stocked with an inside and outside area to sit. The menu has a mix of items, I decided to try the tapas section so i ordered the Beef Short Ribs with a ginger & soy dressing and the Crispy Wings - sticky sriracha glaze & toasted sesame seeds . My sister ordered the Pork Belly - apple purée & Asian dressing and the Tempura Kingklip pops with a sticky Asian dressing, lime crema & spring onion. Lastly my brother took the Roasted Bone Marrow - bone marrow butter & sourdough toast, and the Fillet on the bone.

The place was pretty quiet, most of the tables were just having drinks, but the food took really long to arrive. Sadly we were not that impressed with the food. The flavours are there but my crispy chicken was overcooked and hard to bite. My Ribs were quite nice and not overpowering. My sisters Pork belly was also over cooked and the crackling was not crispy, same as the fish pops. The tempura batter was really thick and hard. We brought this to Elsa's attention (if memory serves we well) before leaving. Shame as we were waiting for our bill she mentioned that they were re-doing the fish pops to see if there is a difference. Sadly it was just as thick and doughy/overcooked as the first batch, and they were kind enough to remove it from the bill. My brother however enjoyed his choices of food.

Our waiter Austin was very friendly and helpful. Will see how it goes on my next visit as there are some good items on the menu I'd like to try.

#TheFoodMusketeer
#TheFoodMusketeerEats
#TFMParillaonMain

Celebrated my mother’s birthday at Parrilla Bar and Grill. We ordered from the Tapas menu the ribs, halloumi and Mexican corn. The mains ordered were the oxtail with rice and chicken with ribs platter (half and half) with a side salad. The food was a great portion for the Tapas and the Mains. I really liked how quickly the food came out to the table. As soon as the Tapas were done the Mains were brought to the table. The Tapas were lovely. I would have preferred that’s some of the food be more seasoned and have fuller flavours like the Tapas beef ribs and the pork ribs. The oxtail fell off the bone and was juicy. The side salad tasted amazing. My type of salad :) The decor in the space is minimal but cool. The staff are very friendly and efficient. The menu is affordable and you still get your money’s worth. I would definitely go back to taste other dishes on their menu.

Dion and I were invited to visit Parrilla Bar and Grill on a lazy Sunday afternoon. I was in the mood for a spot of live music, and Soul Picnic was just the thing after a bit of Facebook stalking.

We enjoyed the following from the Tapas Menu.

BABA GANOUSH DIP 🍃 toasted pine nuts, pomegranates & pita bread

The husband was not sold on this dish, even with the fancy name. I may have mentioned chickpeas and vegetarian in passing. Must have reminded my husband of going Green and we are not quite that politically correct as yet.

This dish was, however, my favourite on the Tapas menu. Loved the texture definition between the dip and pine nuts. The addition of the acidity of the pomegranate with its impressive nutrient profile was a win for me. Served with soft, fresh baby pita bread (delivered fresh daily, not baked on-site) to scoop up the delight.

SPICY PRAWNS & THAI DIPPING SAUCE

I should have paid closer attention to what exactly we were ordering instead of losing myself in singing along to Soul Picnic, as I would usually shy away from the word "spicy". A lover of Prawns I dashed in there but was very quickly aware of the spicy bits. Not my dream dish but it looked so pretty!

Dion was quite keen on the Spicy Prawns, and the Thai sauce received a good dipping. #nice (Insert Borat voice here)

TEMPURA KINGKLIP POPS sticky Asian dressing, lime crema & spring onion

This Japenese dish was devoured by us both. The sticky Asian dressing was the kind you wanted to dip your finger into the bowl just to make sure you get every last drop.

The Kingklip was cooked beautifully and the lime cream and spring onion was the perfect companion. Highly recommend them Pops!

CRISPY WINGS sticky sriracha glaze & toasted sesame seeds

You too have the Google. Use it if you do not know what a word means. I should have looked up the word "Sriracha". Google says is a type of hot sauce or chilli sauce made from a paste of chilli peppers, distilled vinegar, garlic, sugar, and salt. ... and I thought the word spicy meant living on the edge!

Even Dion found the wings a bit on the hot side, yet they appeared to have great appeal and he finished them. I had one so I could burn for not using the Google.

BEEF RIBS ginger & soy dressing

Tasty, full of flavour but lacked the tenderness Dion expected. I too was not overly impressed or amazed, yet it was good. So average.

ROASTED BONE MARROW bone marrow butter & sourdough toast

I loved the toast because yay carbs - but I am not a great bone marrow lover so this was for Dion to enjoy. His feedback was that it was tasty, scrumptious, loved the presentation and was exactly what he had been craving. Up there with the best he had ever had. Winner!

Parrilla provided a relaxing afternoon exploring great food and listening to chilled music.

The dining area is separate from the bar area which appealed to me as sport was entertaining the bar guests and a session of live music was heaven in the dining area. The same menu is available in the bar area if that is your jam BTW!

If you looking for a quiet romantic spot I would avoid Friday nights which I've heard is a bit of a party night but as for the rest of the time, romance away!

I will be posting a second blog with main meals and dessert options.

#wenchytude

#AfricanHipsDontLie

🌿 đŸ„‚

We visited Parilla for dinner and I was really disappointed, the hamburger looked and tasted dreadful, veggies were not good and neither was the cheese cake. For that price I could have got a 2 far better take aways â˜č

We came here for dinner with my family about a week ago & I would definitely recommend it!

Ambience: 4/5. Lovely place with beautiful decor! Instagram worthy for sure. A tad bit on the noisy side, but I guess that just means it get full. Separating the dining & the drinks area did help though - the drinks area is very noisy.
Service: 5/5. We really got amazing service! Honestly the best I’ve had. Attentive but not intrusive, and ready with a joke!
Menu: 4/5. Wasn’t as many options as we’d like. Some of the people struggled to choose. I think the steak options could be extended to include some signature steak combos.
Drinks: 5/5. Great cocktail & wine list. I enjoyed both the cocktails I had, & I found their by-the-glass wine options very generous.
Food: 4/5. I ordered the Parrilla burger & it was a bit dry, which was unfortunate. Others had one of the steak options - and they all seemed to enjoy their steaks. For dessert we had the newly added chocolate brownie which was delicious & generous - definitely one to share.

Overall: 4/5.

In general a really great place which I would definitely go to again & recommend. The only reason I can’t give a 5 is because of my dry burger & the slightly limited menu, but other than it’s definitely a great place for meat lovers & cocktail enthusiasts.

I had the opportunity today to try out Parrilla Bar & Grill. I expected the place to be packed for lunch, but it wasn’t the case. I assume more Fridays and weekends. Had a warm welcome and were shown to a table outside. The waiter took our drinks order and food order. Since the restaurant was not that busy, the food arrived in a good time. Food was good, service was good and the reason I’m not giving 4 stars is the fact that the butter on the bone-marrow dish was not melting (I reckon the dish cooled off already). Will return.

The beef Espetada is out of this world! If it’s one dish to try, it’s this one! Attending a birthday party, we were seated on the deck, literally under the night sky, made for a super romantic setting. Highly recommend their Gin cocktails, with a large selection to choose from. My fav being the Ginifer (pineapple and basil) and Bombay Sapphire (berries and orris root). A welcome change from the long standing Baron, the decor is stylish but comfortable, take note of the the floor tiles. Service was excellent. Look forward to trying more on the menu.

Reviewing on behalf of a friend.
He writes that he stopped at Parilla Bar & Grill on Main in Bryanston to get domething to eat. I eventually managed to order a medium Lamb Burger with chips at a price of R115 from staff who were very reluctant or eager to assist.
The burger, which looked like somebody sat on it, was slapped infront of me. No “can we offer you some sauces?” or anything from the waitress.
I asked for tomato sauce for the chips. The burger not only looked unappetizing but was not medium done and did not taste like lamb at all. In fact the patty was orange in colour rather than a light pink which one would expect of a decent lamb burger.
I ate 4 chips and asked for the bill, which I paid in full.
According to the “manager” that is how they serve their lamb burgers. That being the case I will not be back and will not recommend Parilla to ANYBODY. My only regret is that I did not take a photo of the burger to show what it looked like.
I walked out with absolutely NO attempt by the manager to do anything to address my visible dissatisfaction.
A steers burger at R30 looks and taste more appetizing that Parilla’s Lamb Burger.
You won’t see me again.
#Parillabar&grill

Can’t really comment on the food but clearly service is pathetic. Booked a table for 8 people on the Friday, booking accepted no issue. Saturday evening get a message to say they not going to open and not to come. I supposed I should be grateful they left a message. Really useless they won’t see me in a hurry.

The place has two sections, as you walk in its a full on bar, with tv screens and high tables and chairs. Followed by a more formal dining room, with the green plant wall as a focal backdrop. The bar was packed due to a rugby match so we sat in the quieter dining area. Both areas lead out to a patio overlooking main road.

The menu has everything from tapas, to pastas, grills and even a curry. We opted for the kashmiri lamb knuckles and rib eye. The lamb was tender and well spiced though not hot enough for me. Rib eye perfectly done medium with sides of baked pototo and a sauce. There is a good wine selection and a speciality gin menu as well.

Ended with a deconstructed black forest cake and a carrot cake loaded with nut, both equally delicious. Will definitely be back to try the tapas next!

This local hotspot has taken over where Baron on Main left off and it is absolutely refreshing!

Did you know that "Parrilla" means Grill?
Parrilla refers to the actual open-fire hearth and grates where meat is cooked and what a steakhouse this is!

We spent an enjoyable Sunday on their deck with live music and a table full of delicious tapas.

On this first visit, we selected a combination of recommended tapas dishes to get a feel for the menu and weren't disappointed:
Beef ribs, ginger and soy dressing.
Roasted Bone Marrow, Bone Marrow Butter and Sourdough Toast.
Parrilla Picanha Sliders.
Marinated Chilli Olives and Halloumi.

Service: 5/5
Food: 5/5
Ambiance: Live music, modern open plan interiors, and plush booths are hard to beat.. 5/5

*Recommendation: Enjoy a lazy Sunday afternoon at Parrilla Bar and Grill
with some ice cold drinks and live music by Jozi Flo Productions... Think Old School Rock, Pop, Reggae, Swig, and Jazz.

For more, find me on Instagram, Facebook & Twitter: LaurasWorldza
