Review Sir Loin - Brackenfell

I read other reviews and the one that got me was, “this is my go to place for burgers” - so we had to try it. Very glad we did! The burgers were large, and tasted the way real burgers should. Flame grilled. Fresh. Large. Delicious. We also enjoyed snails, salad, and chicken schnitzel. The waitress was very attentive and on this cold day we felt well looked after. Highly recommend. There’s also the Entertainer app options on the menu where you can buy one and get one free. It applies to specific burgers and pizzas only so we were not able to take advantage of that today, but will come back for sure. 👍

A warm well-layed out restaurant with succulent mouth watering steaks and burgers. Friendly and helpful staff. An all round enjoyable experience.

Decided to Pop in for Brunch at this "New Kid on the block". (Old Sirlion) Pleasantly surprised with the renovation, it looks up-market and feels welcoming. Food was tasty, well prized and generous. Service was great. We will be back!!

Great set up! Value for money! In winter I sit near the fire place. In summer I sit upstairs and enjoy the view while eating. Great stuff! Service excellence. Sir Loin is my favourite burger joint. This time, we went for pizza and schnitzel and loved it. Rockefeller, as the name suggests, had everything on it and priced at only R129.99. Value for money for great food is the key here. The booths (be safe and book) are cosy, intimate, and private. Ps. The entertainer app can be used on burgers, pizza, 1 steak dish, and the schnitzel.

The Sir Loin is one of the places I like to revisit when I can. The steak and egg here is just how I like it, perfect, and at R169 for 300g its good value. Kwv special helps too. The restaurant itself is well located with kind of a view over the mountains and Cape gate. Its not too noisy and the service is friendly and reasonably paced considering workload.

Date night was nice. Quite noisy in the smoking section and the seating isn't as comfortable. Food was good. Can't complain.

Yes it’s a silly name (edit - it was called 'Sir Loin'), and yes, it’s not the best of locations in post-apocalyptic furniture depot meets sixties strip mall, but give it a go. Interesting interior, ranging from smoking section benches through tables and chairs to ostrich (?) leather clad booths, it offers a range of seating styles. The menu is fairly extensive and very reasonable as to price. We had steaks and a fish dish and the low price point was apparent. Cheaper cuts of beef, and a fairly small portion of fish with very miserly sides. No garnish, no extras. However, for the price, very good, and the staff were amazing and attention excellent. One of the steaks turned out to be very tough, and on mentioning this, the server offered a new one and then made a full take-away steak to compensate without being asked. Brilliant service, and well done to the owners for allowing the staff latitude to fix an error and make the overall experience good.

This was such an awesome experience. The Service was impeccable. There has definitely been a change in management,not that my previous visits have been bad but the experience that we had on out latest visit was exceptional. We had the 3 course meal special that included a bottle of wine. The food was fresh,hot and flavourful. Staff was friendly, our waitress was on point and the manager made regular checkins. I'll definitely be back again.

Waited forever to get second order. Had 4 waiters in an hour. Waitress said "its getting a little busy" but there was 1 full table and 5 tables of 2. Prefered Sirloin. Hope this wil get better

Tip Top Service. One of those places that makes you feel that your custom is appreciated. Friendly atmosphere, ideal for family and business. I have been here during their quiet and busy times, the staff just rise to the occasion. Keep it up.

When you go to a place that checks more than all the boxes... wow wow wow !!!! Beautifully decorated with the fires going added to an already fabulous entrance. Excellent service from everyone and Washington was our Waiter. The food was moreish, plentiful and great value for money ... we will be back that is for sure !

First time going there and was immediately blown away. Brilliant reception, warm fire by the door, Lovely atmosphere, kind staff and some of the best tasting burgers I've had in a very long time. Thick patties and was on 50% special on Mondays. Went with friends and family but I know where my next date spot is going to be.

Those who order the cheese cake ooh thats divine. The burger for takeaway i ate half that I needed to place rest away to enjoy later on. Burger homemade and very delicious. Last night we visited Sir Loin. It was a pleasant experience and I must commend the waiting staff. We were a rather big group and not one order came out wrong. All the food came at once and everyone’s dishes looked amazing. I opted for their chicken schnitzel and crumbed mushrooms. The portions are big and delicious.<br/><br/>One thing that I would critique is the fact that the restaurant still give out plastic straws. When they bring it with your drink, the paper cover for the straws are already open. By doing this, the customer does not even have the option to use it or not, because it has already been opened. This ultimately increase plastic waste. They must definitely reconsider the plastic straw in an age where conservation of our planet is vital!

Tonight was the 1st time we had dinner at Sir Loin (Cape Gate) and we were very disappointed with the quality of their food!  <br/><br/>I wish we had read some of the reviews on some renowned food websites before spending money at this restaurant. From reviews (and Hellopeter of coarse), it is clearly evident that eating here is Russian roulette, with only some dishes saving them from slipping below their average and highly over-rated 3.5 stars.  <br/><br/>I can’t help but wonder if the quantity wasn’t making up for the quality, what the rating would have been?  <br/><br/>So..after a civilised complaint to the waiter about the chicken being raw, the Managers -Leon & Charl- was ‘too busy’ to visit our table and handle the situation like experienced managers would have done, but rather decided to stand and stare at the four other occupied tables they had at the time.  <br/>A very pleasant, but visibly embarrassed waiter was rather sent back to us with a side plate, to fetch some of this tasteless raw chicken, only to return a 3rd time to inform us that the managers have tasted it and found it to be up to the Sir Loin-standard.  <br/><br/>Well Gents, if only this was the 1st time your names have come up on reviews, it would have surprised me, but okay- if THAT is the Sir Loin standard, I guess it is not for me! I would much rather spend money at the restaurants that give Cape Town its name for being a city of culinary experiences. I wish you the best of luck!

Found this place while waiting for our movie at Capegate. This place has a lot more meat and cheese than I’d usually go for so I’m basing it on the reviews of my Friends. Apparently the steaks and ribs were great value for money and well cooked. They polished off massive pieces in no time.

Sir Loin is a great eatery in the Northern suburbs, having various specials of which their date night & burger specials are some of the more popular.<br/>They have a cozy atmosphere, as well as a great bar section.<br/><br/>I would recommend anybody to try their half-price burger special 🍔

Always see Sir Loin when we drive to the gym so we decided to give it a try. Best value for money breakfast. The farmhouse. Always good service and value for money. Will be back. They must consider an bottomless coffee or maybe a refill as it becomes more expensive than the breakfast.

my birthday. We were quite a large group, 10 people, so I wanted to make a booking. After calling 3 times and not getting an answer I went to the restaurant where they told me they do not take bookings. I showed up an hour early to make sure we get a table, the lady in front took my name and offered us a seat. For an hour and fifteen minutes I sat there waiting for a table while seeing groups of 6 and 8 being seated right away. They did not even try and make a plan for us such as pushing a 4 seater table together with 8 seater table for us. After waiting for and hour and fifteen minutes I decided to move my birthday dinner to Spur where we were seated right away.

First night out since my stint in hospital and we decided to visit Sir Loin for dinner. The restaurant is very neat and well presented inside. I love the whisky and brandy on display. Wife decided to have some cocktails which are very reasonably priced, taste good and pack a real punch. She would return just for the cocktails alone.<br/><br/>I had some chicken wings as a starter which I enjoyed, they were nice and juicy and not overcooked like most places do them. I had the 300g sirloin with veg and onion rings. Steak was great, cooked as requested, basting sauce was delicious (not too sweet) and I loved the veg. Onion rings were good too, didn't have that dark brown, cooked in old oil look and taste.<br/><br/>Wife had the 500g sirloin with cheese and mushroom sauce. Her steak was equally good and she said the salad was good as well. <br/><br/>Service from James was excellent. Nice chatting food and whisky with the manager as well. Will definitely be returning.

Last night we received bad service from Sir Loin. We had to wait long for our food and the waiter Dehan, was very unprofessional. No apology at all. To put the cherry on top our food was very cold as well.This has indeed been a bad evening at Sir Loin in Brackenfell.

Ek het op n ruk gelede n biefburger geeet by Sirloin, terwyl ek besig was die burger te eet , het ek n<br/><br/> stukkie been raakgebyt wat binne die vleis was - in die proses is my tand ook beskadig!<br/><br/>Toe ek dit agterna met die bestuurder ene Karl opneem , het hy net skouers opgehaal en my na die eienaar verwys en gese dat ek vir hom n epos moet stuur na hul algemene epos adres waarop ek dit gedoen het,  maar geen terugvoer gekry het - ek het dit  2 keer agterna opgevolg maar na 3 weke nog geen terugvoer ontvang wat uiters swak is. <br/><br/>Ek het toe weer  op 20/11/17  vir die bestuurder Karl geskakel en gevra om met die eienaar te praat - hy was baie kortaf en ongeskik en het gese dat daar n nuwe eienaar is en hy het nie  haar kontakbesonderhede . We had great service and even better food! Among our orders were the blackened rump, biltong and avo rump and Madagascan rump. The chips are delicious and the veggies as well. I had the Fun in the Sun cocktail which was divine and I would definitely order it again!

Oooeee love their cocktails and the vibe. Also have nice burger specials. Awesome to sit outside in the summer. Friendly service and defs a fav to visit when want to go for a drink.

Definitely value for money, burger night special on a Monday is one of my favorites. Awesome bar area for watching sports & friendly service!

The 500g peppermelt rump steak I ordered with veggies was absolutely devine as well as thw service I recieved from my friendly waiter. Will definitely recommend this place to anyone who has an appetite and want to relax in the Brackenfell area. You people impressed me today; keep up the good work.

I have been to Sir Loin numerous times and have always a had a good experience! I have mostly had the burgers and they are truly great (served with chips and onion rings). Waiters are mostly friendly and helpful. Worth a visit!

Every time I come to Sir Lion, my experience is different. Last time I visisted them, I had their Prawn and Calamari platter and that was divine.  My friend and I ordered the Garlic snails to share. The snails itself was nice, big and tasty but unfortunately there were way too much garlic on the plate. This time I wasn't very hungry and wanted to order one of their "Light Meals".  I went for the Trinchado. Big mistake. It had a bitter taste, oily and didnt look very appetising.  I sent it back and asked for the Peri-peri livers instead.  It wasn't great, not the peri peri livers that I am used to.  The sauce was mostly olive oil and chopped onions. I was disappointed.  My friend had the T-bone steak and it looked good. At least she enjoyed her meal. Their waiters are very friendly and service was quick.

Only order steaks. They are cooked close to perfection every time. Don't order anything else. The vibe is cool during sports, but the bar area gets very smokey and becomes unbearable, stay in the restaurant. Good value for money.

The food is generally good. We've never dined there but regularly order a takeout and just collect it. <br/><br/>Once I ordered a burger and it was rare, took it back and was told they don't do their burgers well done because many of their patrons don't like it....So why didn't you ask me how I want my burger done? They fried me a fresh patty, well done and served it back to me in the plate I brought it in on. <br/><br/>Also, maybe carry cash on you because last time I swiped twice and the transaction failed, my husband swiped and the transaction fails, husband goes to draw money and manager says the transaction was approved- if it goes through on both accounts just bring the slips and he will refund us. A few days later we go back to get the refund with the slips already and cellphone banking msgs. Another manager goes to call Seth and he says we must come back the next day with our bank statements for the bookkeeper! Whaaaaaaaat? Okay so we go back. Seth goes to fetch the money and gives it to my husband with no apology or anything...It was more like we came for free food or something. <br/><br/>That, was our last sir loin experience. Such a pity cos we love their food.

Really disappointed in the service tonight. Sitting in the bar and the waiters are running around claiming that they are so "busy." Please let me give your waiters some customer service advice... you NEVER show a client how busy you are ESPECIALLY if the tables are so closely put together and a waiter is complaining that she can't get through because there is no space for her. This is something they should take up with management in a meeting and not make it the customers problem. One should NEVER show how "tired" you are no matter what or how long you have been working for. Please talk to her or train her more on customer service and not just knowing the menu.<br/>

The staff went out of their way to set up a table for us as they were mostly fully booked. The service by Jessica was very good. Snails were excellent, ribs good and the steak and pork snit excellent. Sim Pedro's and Irish coffees were good as well. Cold beer and well priced wine did the trick. Well done Sir Loon.

Such a nice steak restaurant with friendly service and amazing food. Their prices are reasonable and nd their food is always so delicious. Nice place for the family or even for a romantic dinner date. Service is great and the restaurant feels warm andndndnd inviting. A must try in Brackenfell.

Lesson learnt : been avoiding (yes you read correctly) Sir Loin for over a year ..why ? Because of other peoples opinion. Wonder that when you are unhappy about the food/service,why not sort the problem there and then.<br/>Went there for a birthday lunch and the food was delicious and the portions is big.. Our waiter was really cool I have to admit its the best meal I had in a while. (I say that lightly as I attract bad food lol) <br/><br/>Keep up the good food and great service.

What the big hype around Sirloin is, is something I will never understand. I've been there over and over and over and have always left feeling disappointed and like I've wasted my money and thrown it down the drain. <br/><br/>If you want a place that has slow service, waiters looking like they're doing you a favor, and just to drink - then okay Sirloin will work. <br/><br/>But other than that, you get better service, better food, better everything, anywhere else. <br/><br/>What I must mention that completely turned me off was how I asked a waiter for a menu, he told me this isn't his section and I need to wait, so I took it up with the manager who saw no fault in that. Really?! And that will be the last time Sirloin ever see me again.

Stopped here for a few froffies with a mate. Service is pretty good and the food would be worth the visit as this used to be a Dros and from what I heard a pretty good one at that. There isn't really a lot in the area so this place was busy.<br/><br/>Staff are attentive but needed to have more craft beer in stock and there was a blunder with getting the wrong beer I ordered. But not a train smash. <br/><br/>It's good that the Resturant is separated from the bar area. The bar area has couple of screens showing whatever sport is on. Nice place to enjoy a meal and have a few drinks with friends.

Weird to say that i have only been to Dros i think 1 time in my life, so not totally sure how the vibe is, but as this was the old Dros, i could imagine that the feeling is the same, the food was great! tasty and not at all overpriced!! Good place to have dinner with friends, or just a cozy night with your partner! Will be back to try them again!

Lovely setting, very friendly staff and service was good. I had the fillet with caremalised onion and marrow and the lady had their pasta of the day. My fillet was a bit chewy, but was done perfectly, the lady's pasta was amazing, she felt it had a little much garlic, but i loved it. Due to the all and all experiance ill push my rating to a 4, but the food was a decent 3.5. Not that I am a conneseur at all, but I felt the steak was missing something, just my oppinion.<br/><br/>All in all a great night out.

Great service. Waiter was attentive and delivered all orders as instructed(we changed a few ingredients on the dishes). Steak was brilliant Problem was the seafood. The grilled calamari was inedible, as was the hake. If you go there, stick to steaks.

The burger special on a Sunday and Monday is an awesome way to survive on a student budget. Quality food and lots of it! I'll be sure to visit again! <br/>

Unremarkable venue with accompanying food. Good value for money, but worth spending that bit extra and going to the Hussar Grill in my opinion. Service was excellent however.

Went for supper last week - nothing exceptional. I ate the Cordon bleu, and won't recommend it to anyone. Flat breast of chicken with hardly any cheese stuffing, actually tasteless. Waiter was friendly but very unprofessional as we gave her our order she kept on rolling her eyes and sweat was dripping from her face.

visited Sunday 01 November and waited more than a hour for food to arrive and when it eventually did was very disappointed. Patrons that arrived after us was almost done with their meal when our food eventually arrived. SIR LOIN SIRLOIN arrived with no BACON. DEBONED LAMB RIBS is nothing but a piece of FLANK with no meat whatsover, Waiter refers you to manager that dont know how to deal with customer complaints. Defintely not going back there and will tell family and friends as well.

Went to Sir Loin on Thursday 22 October, for my friends 23rd Birthday celebrations,<br/>Had good service from the waiter but unfortunately shockingly the manager was beyond unprofessional and rude.<br/>Instead of coming up to us on the top floor where we were seated alone I might add, asking us to please be a bit more quite and then if we did not listen give us a final warning then ask us to leave like a professional manager would do, he stumbled up to our table told us in a very rude manner they had a complaint of us being to loud we must pay our bill and leave... So i told him this is a birthday party and we did not shout,<br/>Next thing he swears at us tells us to take our things and leave. We still wanted to sort this out and he just kept getting more aggressive so he pushed both my father in-law and my friend whose birthday it was so shocking to me that a manager would act like that. Very inappropriate and unacceptable behavior. <br/>

I do enjoy a decent steak. But when a place cannot even get the temperature on a steak correct the 2nd time I do loose interest. The food is quite average, no flavour, sometimes a bit bland. The 2 seater tables are way too big to have an intimate conversation. The service is good, but the staff does not work as a team.<br/>I do hope they shape up on the food side, one would expect value for money.<br/>Not bad but also not great....

We went there for a first time and had a great experience. Their food portions are big, and very tasty as well. We had the stuffed peppadew calamari starter, and the Sir Loin pizza, which is quite hot but very very tasty and saucy! From what the waitress told us, it is still the old Dros, except they don't pay royalty fees anymore and their food standards are better.. Good experience, will go back.

We went to Sir Loin for Sunday lunch. I had a 300g steak which I was very happy with only to be told by our waitress the steak was to small so she brought me another large serving, has anybody ever heard of a restaurant doing that. Excellent service and food.

Went to sir loin last night what a shocking disaster the service was terrible. We where offered a table upstairs the welcoming was good, and then handed over to Kelvin whom i think is a manager who just dumped us there didn't over us anything to drink. We still waited another twenty or so minutes for service while waiters played rock paper scissors for who to serve the other tables. <br/>Two tables come after us and they where attended first had to go down to look for Kelvin for us to get service. Eventually we did get served. Didn't know what to make of it if it's a race thing or was just bad luck,<br/> l think that the managers need to communicate better with the waiters. <br/>What a dissapointment.

On Sunday 21 June 2015 me and my family (7) arrived for a Father's Day breakfast to be asked "do you have a reservation?". This was after I phoned them on Thursday and was told that they do not make bookings for Sunday and it is first come first serve. On Friday afternoon I personally went to them and again I was told no bookings for Sunday." On arrival Sunday I insisted and was given a table in the dark corner under the stairs. Ordered food and one of my children got a piece of plastic in her food !I am disappointed in the Restaurant and their management. Sorry but I will find another place in the future

Went to Sir Loin for breakfast. Excellent value for money and really good food. Good choice available on the menu. Service and friendliness of staff made the experience.

Efficient, friendly service with a wonderful menu selection. Fillet steak grilled with a flavourful basting & eisbein - generous & expertly cooked! Seating is varied enough to allow for any occasion - a definite must - visit and we will back!

Meat has always been the building blocks of modern man. For years we have perfected the art of hunting, cutting and grilling. When I hear the word meat i can't help but image a thick cut of rump or sirloin steak on the grill, slowly dancing with with the flames, seducing it with its charm until the time is right for them to part ways. We all love a good@ steak dinner but let's face it,having a Gourmet steak in a decent restaurant is going to cost you. I recently went to a new place that opened up near Cape Gate and i was highly impressed with the service, prices and quality of the food. They made it able for you to have a perfectly cooked and tender gourmet steak and drink for only a 150 rand. The place that I am speaking about is Sir Loin located in the same centre as Cape Gate`s Virgin Active. I had a 300 gram rump steak covered in caramelized onions topped of with brie cheese and half an avo. It was beautifully cooked and seasoned to perfection. The food portions are big and you really have a sense of getting value for your money. The service was great and the staff friendly. Our waiter Jackie was friendly, welcoming and great. Explaining everything. The breakfast was lovely. Will be visiting again.

The service was very slow. The onion rings were left off my steak order. Asked for medium rare, was served just over blue. I am not impressed!
