This place is a gem. The food is great and its great to get out and have a meal with family while watching funny videos and good music. Price is not bad. The Staff are very friendly and they are great with advice on meals. Kids love the baloon. One suggestion I have is that Management look at showing good family friendly movies or shows on Friday nights.

Everything was just simply amazing 🤌🔥 from their drinks to those delicious wings,ribs ,chips and pizza . I really appreciated the space ,I felt comfortable and relaxed . Service was top norch 👌

Amazing place with an amazing vibe Very big portions that don't break the bank, which is why I think its quite a popular spot. Very fast service Our waiter Tyson took really good care of us. Totally relaxed chilled atmosphere Definitely recommend it. Although the sit in area is being renovated, but I think the real experience is outside. 👍👍👍

The coolest way to get some creatively packaged Kota. I had a club Kota. That is club sandwich fillings in a Kota (something like ciabatta bread in a shape of a kota). I ate this for dinner and breakfast. It was so delicious. While waiting for our Kotas in a buzzing and vibrant drive queue; we had creamy chocolate or caramel or Ferrero Roche dipped ice cream... heaven on earth...

They are back 😍 and they are back with a bang!!! We've been waiting for Kota Joe's to open back up for a very long while, but the way was worth it!!! We tried a new milkshake on the menu 🥤and got Kota's to go 🥙 and it's safe to say IT'S STILL MAGIC ✨️🎉

I must give it to Kota Joe I mean from Three years back The Kota is still nchaa, this is the best franchise. I really love the menu and how it so diverse, the menu continues to change and improve. The waiting period is fair enough for me considering the outcome😋. While waiting you are entertained 😜. We are hoping we going to have one closer to us.

A cool full of vibe roadhouse with the great tasting fries covered with amazing toppings and sauce. Their milkshakes are really awesome, my favorite the 🍓 Strawberry and Butter Caramel What's cool is they run a Wednesday Milkshake special where you get 2 milkshakes and only pay for 1, and they are really well priced. They recently revamped their seating area, I have not been inside but it looks pretty good from the parking ground. They also have pumping music which makes the place viby...

On recommendation of a colleague, I went to get take-out for the family. I've never had such a filling Chilli Cheese chips 'Kota'.....Pizza's not that great, but my wife's Wrap was great and filling.

Lucky assisted me, he was rude as I did not add a tip due to the fact I had only order two milkshakes for a take away, he then threw my receipt back in to the window and left, I tried calling him but he ignored me, as he walked past me again for the 2nd time I tried to call him again but he looked directly at me and just kept on walking! 110% would not recommend this place

A great spot for after the car wash.<br/><br/>We love coming here and grabbing something quick. It's always such a vibe.<br/><br/>The staff are pretty friendly and very capable. Never had an issue with my order before.<br/><br/>The food is fantastic after trying almost everything I still can't decide what's my favourite.<br/><br/>One things for sure though, their milkshakes are a must!

Someone bought me food from here and I must I was impressed! I love how the ingredients are quality and the food is fresh! I had the black forest shake and WOW. Will definitely be stopping by to try the other shakes. I also love the Chappies, such a nice and authentic touch.

Waffle On A Stick Is Delicious...Chips Are Great Aswell As The Burgers...My Only Critique Is That Service Is Slow But Friendly...Overall Would Recommend

Chicken strip Kota is my favorite. And the mushroom sauce is amazing. I have had an issue or two with some of my orders (pebble found in one kota and a dirty kota bag) but overall they are delicious. Milkshakes are awesome!!

My first time at a roadhouse and Kota Joe has made me a fan! I love the idea and getting serves at your window. Its extremely convenient. However, the winner here were the kotas. Delicious! Filling! Proper comfort food. I had the chilli kota and am already counting down the days til my next.

Best milkshake I’ve ever had but the food was too much, overwhelming and I wasn’t happy with my Prego Kota - too much sauce. However, I enjoyed the Dagwood Kota but my boyfriend didn’t. Overall, just a nice place!

Kota joe has great comfort food and the best milkshakes. Not badly priced and very good meal portions. Definitely a place to check out ! Wonderful outside sitting area or you can be served in the comfort of you car.

This is a real treat if you want to pig-out and forget the diet, Gym or your mother’s opinion of your backside and healthy living. I always enjoy the experience, the service is always good and the food has never been a let down. I can’t give a 5 Star as yet, because I the facilities needs an upgrade especially for the dine in option and well the rest rooms are just sad and unhygienic ☹️

My second time here. The sauce on my kota the first time was awful and my husband didnt like the dagwood so we didn't came back for a very long time. Today we tried the double toasted cheese and tomato with chips and a chip wrap (minus the sauce coz I tried making a vegan meal) and it was nice. The music was great and the service was good.

We love their milkshakes, no other place can top their different kind of shakes. Their food on the other hand is not so good. We would rather enjoy a nice shake or waffle on a stick with nutella ! A must try if you are there.

Their Kota's went to private schools, guys.😂<br/>Their Jozi kota is the closest Kota they have to your everyday kasi Kota. <br/><br/>Their prices are slightly high but it wont cost you an arm and a leg to get a quick bite.<br/><br/>Should definitely try their cheese and chives popcorn😍

I only go here for the milkshakes and ice creams. Really good and it hits the spot everytime. Any flavor on the menu is great. Wont rate the food though as i only tried the shawmars which was ok...

Meal we had was Great. Had chocolate & lime shakes and we both had prego kota's. Really enjoyed it. Only thing that bothered me is when one of the waiters digged a booger out of his nose in public. Doubt those hands were washed before serving his customer.

Pita Pita pumpkin eater! 😁<br/><br/>Went here with friends from Cape Town & really enjoyed it! I don't ever go to roadhouse's, but this one looked so clean.<br/>Their milkshakes are Sublime! Wonderful, crazy flavours like popcorn& peanut butter etc... Definitely worth a try!<br/>We were all impressed with our food, although it was a tad oily/greasy.<br/>(Kotas are like pitas.)<br/><br/>The portions are large & you get a lot of bang for your buck.<br/>Outdoor elevated seating area was clean, modern & so relaxing as we watched the sunset.<br/>Would recommend if you are in the area.<br/>Cool graffiti mural on the outside wall -awesome for impromptu photo shoots!

I love this place, as soon as you drive into the parking/serving lot, it feels as if your in a different world. I've had the zoo biscuit and the tempo milkshake and they were both delicious!! Food wise I've had the houlumi wrap which was packed with houlumi and was super flavoursome. Service is always great. The experience given by Kota Joe's is unlike any other roadhouse.

Great place to go to. Just a pity there are so few branches. I always go for their dagwood kota which is a never fail, and what is a meal without a milkshake? Cookies and cream-yummy, zoo biscuit milkshake-will make you cry coz you feel close to heaven. A must go Everytime I am in the area

Just around the corner, Kota Joe's Roadhouse is a regular Friday night pitstop for when we're with friend's. I'm limited a little because the place isn't halaal but I've tried almost all of their milkshakes (the Diddle Daddle and Ferrero being my favourites) and their famous waffle on a stick is the perfect size for someone like me who wants to drive away with abit of everything. Hubby swears by their bubblegum shakes and I love the fact that we don't always have to jump out of our car to grab dessert together (because some drives are best done in pyjamas).

These milkshakes are faaaaantastic! Absolutely loved it. Wasn't too fond of the pizza, it was small and a bit dry. But the milkshakes makes up for that I think.

Kota joe is a great idea for quick and easy food for lazy days and when you don't feel like cooking. You have two options... In car dining or hit and run.<br/>The menu offers a massive variety of meals and drinks but the one thing that is missing here is concistensy! <br/>The quality varies with every visit and...<br/>The favorite customer service trick is dor the waiters to bring you your take aways then they leave to go process the bill! It drives you nuts everytime!

finally tried Kota Joe for the first time ever. Really really nice food. Loved the milkshakes. Delicious! Didnt quite understand the drive "through" setup. I still dont understand how it works. The steak roll was delicious. Staff was friendly. Waiter forgot 1 order though (think there were too many of us at the table confusing him)

Just can't seem to fault these guys on anything, this is the best take out food in the country, value for money, best milkshakes & the portions are just unbelievable, I'll kee going back for more 😁

The Eastrands BEST milkshakes. I suggest taking a drive just to have a taste of these amazing shakes. They also serve waffles on a stick , and you don't even have to get out of your car! My favorite milkshake is the bubblegum and the lime. Make sure you try the banana and Nutella waffle on a stick while you there. My reviews is based on the milkshake and waffles alone

No complaints so far. Order food quite regularly from them. Kotas are amazing and the milkshakes are insanely good. My favourites: 1x Prego Kota (hot) with a bar one shake.

Great vintage roadhouse vibe with the signage. Awesome food, although service can be much better. We always have to wait about 30 minutes or more for a take away here, and it foes get frustrating. Yesterday we were very disappointed as the waitress forgot aboit us and when she eventually realised this and brought our food (which was standing for a good while) it was cold, and I am not a fan of cold chips, which my "Kota" contained... guys awesome food but lets jack up the service a bit? More eficient and more swift please

They milkshake are awesome and flavorful the vibe at the place is really awesome Aswell. The food is just as good. I had a prego roll it was lovely. Full of sauce and flavour. Milkshakes iv tried ferrero its awesome pieces of actual ferrero in the milkshake. The areo peppermint just as good

This was my first trip to a roadhouse and it was definitely a good experience! <br/><br/>It has a great atmosphere with music playing keeping a good mood for the customers while they wait for their food. The service was friendly, attentive and fairly quick! <br/><br/>I got an Oreo milkshake which was absolutely delicious and very well presented! 🍪 The favorite amongst the group I went with was the Zoo Biscuit milkshake. I ate a Chicken Shawarma Kota which was delicious and lasted me two meals! 🌯

If you like flavourful food, carbs on carbs or just need to fix a hangover, Kota Joes will hook you up. A Kota is a larger than normal portugese roll, stuffed with chips,the filling of your choice with their delicious sauces with just the right amount of bite. I've experienced a fair amount of their Kotas: Jozi, Chicken Mayo, Mince and Cheese, and my 2 favourites Chourico Kita and Prego Kota. Their Milkshakes are out of this world as well, with a serious selection. By far the best road house in Jhb. #ScrewTheDiet

What an awesome idea for throwback Thursdays or even any other day. Roadhouse rocking location, kids entertainment and great Roadhouse food. Bit of a drive if you are from the north of Johannesburg but worth it at least once. And don't dare leave without a milkshake. About to try the peanut and banana.

Kota Joe Roadhouse hopefully has a Trademark registered when it comes to their milkshakes lol... there is a huge gap in your milkshake experiences of you nrver had one. Its everything you expect rich, sweet, creamy...

Decided to venture east to this popular roadhouse, Kota Joe's. <br/>I have driven past it several times - but it has never been on my radar as a place to eat at, until I read some of the other reviews on Zomato. <br/>The must have across all reviews seemed to be the Zoo Biscuit Milkshake. So that's what I had. And the reviews weren't wrong. It was delicious. Sweet and smooth with pieces of biscuit in the mix. <br/><br/>The waiter who ran to my car with a big smile on his face was very friendly. Even when I asked for a picture with all the waiters. I switched my radio off because the car next to me was playing some sexy music. <br/><br/>My only concern was we had to wait a while for the shake. Not too long, but was over 15minutes. They did seem busy. <br/><br/>But if you looking for a fun eating experience - in your car, with greasy food and yummy shakes - then this is the spot for you. I would go back for more then just the shakes next time.

Milkshakes. An inevitable "must have" when visiting this vibrant roadhouse!<br/>The zoo biscuit milkshake NEVER disappoints, however, I did find the popcorn didn't go well in a milkshake, as it goes soggy and loses it's flavour.<br/><br/>We weren't let down by our meals at all - a chicken mayo Kota and crispy chicken wrap :) simply divine...<br/>This wasn't my first trip, and definitely won't be my last!<br/>Keep it up...

This is a nice road house, actually my first riad house experience, and I could not believe the variety of menu items. From hamburgers, pizza, curries, anything. All for a reasonable price and you can expect a reasonable portion. I will recommend their chicken wrap and milkshakes.

OK so I have eaten here before... and it was average at best.... but last night I had a craving for a hotdogs and a milkshake. Kota Joes was open and close. I had a hotdog (only 20 bucks) and a Strawberry Pops Milkshake (+- 22 bucks). And what a WINNER! My hotdog was big and so yummy! And the milkshake? It was the best combination of breakfast, icecream and late nights! If for anything I will go back for this meal! Well done Kota Joes! You have restored my faith in roadhouses and milkshakes!

Value for money roadhouse.  They have a wide variety of items on their menu, and the portions are generous.  They do not have covered parking but is ideal for a night out in the summer.

Stopped for a quick bite to eat while in Boksburg. Great value for money portion sizes are huge and the milkshakes are so great! Really a fun little hang out! Waitress was very friendly and efficient! Thumbs up!

Only ever had the desserts but always wished they would open a halal outlet. Food looks awesome. Good desserts but the wait and noise makes it abit difficult to enjoy at the roadhouse...

Unhealthy but legendary food. A once-in-a-while kind of treat. Plenty of variety (pizzas, burger, etc.) But their signature "kotas" are the best. Hug portions and great value for money. Seating area is available but all open. Zoo biscuit milkshake is a must try.

Went early on a Friday evening as I read this joint gets busy and we were right! That didn't detract from the quality of the food or the service though. Gran and I had wraps both fresh and delicious and the hubs and our youngest tried the kotas. Well worth it at those prices! Oldest daughter had a huge toasted bacon egg and cheese with shoe string fries. We got a midi plate of chips for the table which we couldn't finish between the five of us. The table sauces and spices are worth a try as well - beware the house chilli sauce 😈. Finally the shakes…we tried the cookies and cream, chocolate and lime flavors but you can't go wrong with any choice here folks. Perfect place for a roadhouse dinner with a twist.

This place is pumping. Music going. People quing to gave a bite. This roadhouse is different. Kotas are a big meal and if you like chips inside your sandwich you should try these kotas. Milkshake are toe tinteling good. This place is different.

A completely different type of roadhouse to what you would expect. Definitely a younger atmosphere. The servers are very friendly and their different approach to roadhouse food is great. The system they work with to keep cars moving and to bring your food as quickly as possible works really well. Just been there again with a group of friends and it was epic! See if you can finish the Kota Joe King Burger!!

Recently had their dagwood Burger and it was really amazing...the vibe is great as well, good for a nice casual date. Their milkshakes are AMAZING!!!!! (Especially their Bar One shake) and the R7 extra to make it double thick is totally worth it

Such a great little vibe at this Kota Joe. Their Zoo Biscuit milkshake it to die for. Their food is not too shabby as well. Would I rush here again? No. But I'll definitely be popping in every once in a while.

Just love Kota Joe Boksburg, fantastic vibe!  The curry Kota with banana and Mrs Balls chutney is the winner for me, add a chocolate milkshake and it's a great meal.  <br/><br/>Waiters are friendly, service is good and so is the overall experience.  Can't help going back again and again.

Unfortunately this isnt my kind of roadhouse. Its too noisy. I dont mind music but not when its blaring like you have a coca cola truck outside. The service was slow and i wasnt too impressed with the food. Very bland. The rolls or pitas or kotas are soft but with the filling it tends to be extremely dry. Havent gone back sadly. <br/><br/>*updated review* 16 April 2016. After all the hype over the last few months we decided to try the milkshakes and also the food again. Sadly it didn't impress us yet again. I ordered the toasted steak - I knew it was rump and not fillet but I had big chunks of fat and the meat was so hard to chew and burnt on the one side I threw most of it away and ate the bread. The ice zoo milkshake was scenty and not much of a milkshake consistency. Having the biscuits on its own is much better. My brother had the oreo milkshake and also said it wasnt great. The chips were not cooked properly. Sadly another miss for this place.

This place is always busy no matter what time of day you visit. If you think roadhouse this is what comes to mind, cars, loud music and people. Milkshakes are divine and so is the waffle on a stick. Have not tried any food here mostly because it is not halaal. we did wait along time but worth the wait.

We haven't been to a "roadhouse" in about 20 years. Just been no need. Today however we dared to try Kota's. <br/>What a pleasant surprise. Parking was well laid out, advertising board looked inviting, in general it had a more classy feel to it than the roadhouses of old. The service was great, the menus well laid out & filled with inviting looking meals. <br/>My wife had a Kota Shwarma and thoroughly enjoyed it. Obviously a bit bready but good. <br/>I had a good old roadhouse curry & rice with banana & chutney. It brought back the days of going to the roadhouse with Mom & Dad as a youngster. It was yummy, fun & a large bowl full of nostalgia. <br/>Then, the milkshakes … fantastic!! Really really good & worth every cent. <br/><br/>We had a fun time & enjoyed the experience & the food. It was great!

Food is real value for money, very busy at night and the entertainment is something else. Excelent service as well and the milkshakes are to die for.

How have we waited all this time before trying it?? Just had the chicken schwarma and wow. Such great value for money! Amazing sauce and Ren loved his burger. Heard good stuff about their milkshakes so will have to try that soon. I like that they show movies and play music. Such a cool roadhouse!

Milkshakes are awesome. Bought a few kota's but they were not marked which what they were so ended up with a medium instead of a mild Kota.
