This place never disappoints. I have been here many times for the sushi buffet and the sushi is always fresh and tastes amazing.
Despite living in the southern suburbs, my boyfriend and I have decided that we will be traveling here a lot more frequently to have more sushi 😍

FAVOURITE sushi place in Blouberg. Super friendly staff, who are always willing to walk the extra mile for their customers. Sushi is super fresh and delicious. I recommend the cucumber roses.

Best sushi yet in the land of the Western Cape...(standard menu prices and especially specials on sushi = best priced to date) alternative dishes a treat too (try the prawn curry!). Wine and Beer available, but if you prefer something special, bring your own - no corkage fee (!) - this place does not pretend to be upper-class - it is an upper-class food experience, and the bill won't spoil your experience
The sushi is really good..and very well priced ..although the portions can be a bit small at times and they do tend to skimp on the salmon and avo. The waiter and waitress are very friendly and always helpful and obliging with smiles on their faces..just lovely!
I love going to this place..however, the Chinese manageress has no customer relations..she can hardly speak English, she is rude and unhelpful and doesn't know how to deal with a complaint. I would like the Owner to get this message so that something can be done to improve the management of this lovely little restaurant.
Listen. I absolutely love this little place. By far the best sushi i have had in a long time. Nothing fancy but great sushi. It doesn’t have fancy decor or furniture. But they serve great sushi. They also have a buy 1 get 1 free special. I have been there 3 times and it has never disappointed me!
I would recommend this sushi restaurant. The service was good. Waiters are friendly and helpful. Our sushi was excellent and always fresh sushi, Chinese food is good too. They sushi and Chinese dishes/buffet worth to have everyday Tuesday and Thursday I think only R149 eat as much as you want. Big tv screen with music videos playing in the background. The settings is not luxury but food is great and it's like normal Chinese looking restaurant. Oh yes they also have "Buy one get one free" everyday special !They sweet sour chicken is the best too!
Although the service is slow, the sushi is good and definitely value for money. The buy one get one free special is great or if you want, the buffet is reasonably priced.
Fabulous little place that saved us on new years eve after a restaurant around the corner from them gave our reserved table away. We were fed up after waiting and hour and a half and decided to walk in to The Orient and see if the 10 of us could sit down and get something to eat at around 10pm, their kitchen was closing at 10.30pm but they were happy to serve us anyway. What a wonderful turn of event because The food was excellent from the Chinese menu right up to the sushi. The owners even let us keep their wine glasses so that we could watch the fire works on the grass and just showed us where we could leave the glasses when we left as they were closing. So happy to have ended up having such a great meal as our last dinner for 2015. We will definitely support them going forward
If you want well prepared sushi from a good
variety this place will be the one you are looking for. Buy a plate of any five
colors and get the same color for free. Unless you decide to have the Buffet on Tuesday's and Thursday's from 17h00 for a good once off. Delicious and freshly prepared sushi each
time. The Tempura Pastel and Tuna Reloaded rolls is always a winner.

The menu here had a wide variety of sushi and the buffet was very reasonably priced. The California rolls had a bit too much rice for my liking but otherwise the sushi was great.
Freshest sushi. Warm comfort winter food. Better sushi served here than in the CBD. Small and cosy with a real family vibe, but not much decor. Waiter had to plug a heater in for us aswell. Extremely busy so expect to wait but your wait is worth the fresh sushi.
What an amazing hidden gem. Recently found. The Orient with a good friend and fellow sushi lover. We were blown away by the the delicious sushi, service and welcoming sushi chefs. The sushi is fresh and well prepared. We sat at the belt and the sushi chef always checked on us for any special orders or plates not available on the belt. It's not a fine dining restaurant but great all round experience and perfect to settle the craving. At only R109 for buffet and buy one get one free options. It is great value for money!

What a wonderful find! I rated this 4.5 out of 5 based on its category. This is not fine dining vibes but the sushi is amazingly fresh and very well priced.
From the moment I walked in, I felt so welcome, we sat at the sushi belt and were very warmly welcomed by the sushi chefs and asked if they could prepare anything specific that wasn't already on the freshly stocked belt.
They have some really interesting types of sushi like a tempura crab and calamari roll which was just amazing and they had some of the best roses I have ever had. The sushi chefs are just amazing. There were only 2 of them and it was a rather busy friday night but they kept up with the demand and kept the sushi coming.
Staff were great and I can't wait to go back. They have a winter buffet for R109 (excluding sashimi but you can add it for a mere R10) . All other sushi is buy 1 get 1 free.
The restaurant is very simple but it's clean and the vibe at the sushi belt is really cool. Don't go expecting a fine dining vibe based on my rating, go expecting great sushi for a great price.
I am a sushi fanatic to say the least and this restaurant certainly lives up to my expectations. If you've never tried deep fried sushi before then this is the place to go. Super friendly sushi chef making your typical as well as new and interesting creations. If sushi is not your thing there is a good variety of Chinese food to choose from. Pick up a fortune cookie with your bill for who knows what it holds in store ?
My wife and I were a bit worried walking towards this restaurant as it was empty, which is never a good sign. The service was average the sushi was pretty good though. Although in Blouberg there is no view of the ocean and the atmosphere was crappy. I would return for the well priced and good sushi.
Good value for money with their "buy one, get one free" offer - buy a plate of a specific colour, get another plate of the same colour for free. Helpful staff who explained the offer to me. Sushi made quickly, rice not too sticky and fish was fresh. Slightly disappointing that tuna was out of stock, but would definitely go again.
I've been to The Orient many times and I've never been disappointed. The best sushi I've ever had. They have half price sushi all day everyday.
Recently renovated so the restaurant is even nicer now.

Absolutely delicious! We enjoyed 2 platters - Combo A and Combo D, as well as chicken pot stickers which were so flavourful, accompanied with a zesty and spicy sauce. The service was excellent and very friendly. It was a calm evening but all tables were full and lots of people coming in for telephone order collections. Glad we had our date night here. You definitely get bang for your buck as it's on the affordable side of sushi prices.
Took my family for sushi and oh WOW,what a pleasant experience we had....my children loves sushi and they are the biggest critics. I ordered a platter which was made within 10min. Fresh and stunning and the kids loved it . Highly recommend it for a sushi destination.
Although tasty it was weird to have all my sushi (tuna) seared. At first I thought the Tuna was off but upon asking the waitron she advised it's pan seared. Raw tuna next time please.
Just had the best sushi buffet of my life. All the sushi was excellent tonight! Went very well with my daiquiri. Sorry about lack of photos, it left my plate too quickly.
Literally the only place I get my sushi. It's so fresh. Does take some time to get your food but it's totally worth it
The loveliest owner and staff , they made my friends birthday extra special with delicious sushi and an amazing Sushi Cake just for her (So Sweet). Love this restaurant and recommend it whole heartedly!
Real good sushi place if you in hurry. Good variety to chose from on the belt. Every plate colour coded and pay want you eat. Awesome place.
