A very lovely restaurant. Excellent for birthday celebrations or just simply eating out with your friends. There’s a calm and relaxing atmosphere with some background music. I wasn’t really satisfied with my pork chops, I’m guessing they are excellent with pasta but nevertheless my starter and dessert were amazing. They have very professional waiters/waitresses.

We ate at the Woodland Hills boulevard restaurant, the food was delicious, uncomplicated, fresh ingredients prepared by a chef who knows how to be innovative and maximize flavor. The service was very attentive and friendly. The suggested wines complimented the meals perfectly, and the gin and tonic was so delicious and very appealing with the added pomegranate seeds. The wine list is comprehensive. On the Friday evening they had live entertainment, was very pleasant and created a cozy ambience. The artichoke with basil pesto mayo starter is new and is highly recommended, really enjoyed that. The Sorrento Spagetti is addictive. Now the Cheesecake is so good it reminds you of how mama used to make it, Yum. We went back three times during our stay. Such a pity we don’t live in Bloemfontein, will certainly miss this well run, great restaurant. Until next year arrivederci.
The restaurant is super cozy. The low background music is a nice additional touch.
The pasta is gorgeous! You just have to gobble it up quickly before it gets too cold.

I had an excellent experience! From the house wine on offer, to the super helpful and friendly wait staff. I had the carpaccio as starter and calamari mains which was beautifully served and tasted even better. Loved the ambiance - very cosy without being overwhelmingly loud. Made a business stay something to remember for me.
Avanti’s!!! Absolutely awesome!!! The food and service was the best. Great atmosphere for family and friends. Our Balance Chenin Blanc was also amazing!!!!!
When we come through this is one of the restaurants we love to visit 😊 They have a Focaccia with Mozzarella and feta that I wish I could get them to delivery to JHB. Their Pasta is outstanding, the service is impeccable. The only down size is they are not open on a Sunday dinner.

We had such a good dinner at Avanti. The Lamache (snails) starter was a definitive favourite! We enjoyed our choices of mains which were the rack of lamb and fillet marsala. Excellent value for money as well. Unfortunately the food took a bit long, but very friendly service to make up for it. Would definitely recommend Avanti.
First night in Bloemfontein and a wonderful Italian experience, waiters need training but food delightful. Will frequent this restaurant again soon.

The food was delicious and different to the norm. The service was unbelievable. Our waiter went above and beyond and we could see this was the same with every other waiter in the restaurant. A great standard to set!
In Bloem for a sports tour. We were a table of 28 people from Joburg and a very discerning crowd. Staff were attentive and friendly. The food was excellent. Prime Rib (outstanding) to the fillet (very good) to the delicious calamari with butter beans, spinach and Churizo - The pizza and pastas were great. The fish and lamb cutlets too. Really great food at Avanti. Well worth a visit!
Absolutely awesome. I came to Bloemfontein from Jhb on a business trip and so came to Avanti on my own. Inside was booked up, it being a Friday night, so they seated me in their covered patio then lit the fire so I was toasty warm! The house wine (Chenin Blanc) is very good, as was the Milan chicken - beautiful moist chicken breasts stuffed with cheese, with bacon and rocket on top. I had it with a side salad is I'm trying to do Banting, and it was really delicious.
Great service, the manager came to ask if my meal was ok, and the music was perfect to set the mood - lovely French music.
Well done, Avanti. I was incredibly impressed to find this in Bloem! If you are ever here, come to Avanti - you won't be disappointed!!
We visited Avanti the evening before our daughter's graduation and enjoyed our evening tremendously. My husband (not a lover of Italian cuisine) was apprehensive of our choice of restaurant. Having visited Avanti in his absence on a previous occasion, I knew that they had a wide variety of dishes to suit every palate. My husband & nephew were impressed by the Seafood Salad. My husband and son ordered the Beef Prime Rib (a very pricey dish) that was well prepared and tasty, but not worth the price (R220) they charged, as it was not a large portion. A fillet or rump steak would have been a wiser choice. The Lamb Ravioli is to die for and all in all I can see why Avanti has been vited one of Bloemfontein's top 10 restaurants.
Great service, uncomfortable chairs, pasta needs more zing, however the menu has a great selection. Nice ambiance and vibe, worth a return visit.
Good restaurant and good food albeit slightly pricey for Bloem so good for a special occasion but if you can afford it, it is definitely a restaurant to frequent. Always ask if they have fresh baby Kingklip and if they do, ask for it baked in foil. They make kids feel welcome even though the restaurant is more of an adult dining restaurant. The pasta portions are quite big, the pizza is very tasty! Overall a good restaurant!
Definitely the best in Bloemfontein from my experience. Starters 5 out of 5 and the main meals 4 out of 5. The rump steak was a bit tough and the chips were not fresh cut chips and even though we asked for the truffle chips we only got the bland normal ones.

I must say, I much prefer this location to the Waterfront as it allows for easier access and allows for a better ambience. The quality of the food is still the same if not better.
This wonderfully itallian owned restaurant is a delicious for a day or night out. Clean, comfortable and sincere, this place is just great. With service to match the deliciousness of the food, really worth the stop. We had the snails to start, yummy, followed by a Al' pescatore pasta - paired with a glass of Chevin Blanc. I was at this restaurant on 16 March 2016.
Ambiance: the atmosphere was serene. No buzz but fresh.
Hygiene: The tables, chairs, cutlery and the waiters were all very clean.
A gentleman called Francois was our waiter. Very attentive and highly knowledgeable with the menu. One salivates easily upon hearing about the dishes on offer.
But on the day, their special was this dish called fillet massala. Beautiful dish. Medium made fillet, soft and tender. Not too spivey because even the spice-phobia dude like me loved it so dearly.
Amazing wine list on all fronts, white, red, sweet, semi-sweet or dry. Absolutely great.
The restaurant structure is not the world class architectural design. But it is good. You can see that they really put in a great effort.
A Bloemfontein dweller I am visiting who takes me to this eatery would really impress me.

Here I am back at Avanti. I was here in 2015 but alas! I couldn't rate the place 'cause the Zomato app wouldn't come around!
Ambience = 3.5. The decor is very minimalist in approach and the atmosphere very subdued. It's part of fine dining experience in Bloem.
Food = 4. Had calamari fritta for starter - which is deep fried calamari and squid heads, paired with chilli avocado salad accompanied by smoky jalapeño mayo. Highly recommend! For mains had grilled calamari with pan-fried chorizo, served with butter beans and baby spinach and finished with sherry and Italian parsley - fused great together but just imbalance between chorizo pieces and calamari.
Wine = 4. A very impressive wine list with award winning wines.
Service = 3. Just an okay service, which lacked attention at times. Overall just adequate.
If you looking for an authentic Italian and flavorful dishes on your way take a detour into "little Italy" in Bloem!
Flat bread is a must. We have had calamari, kingklip, mussel pot and pasta as main. Beside mussel all quite good. The table was warmly served. A nice place to visit in Bloemfontein.
Near perfect evening and meal, surprised to find such a gem of a restaurant on our trek through Bloemfontein on our way to Oudtshoorn.
We had the calamari starter, excellent but some of the squid heads were over cooked.
The chicken and basil cream rates as one of the nicest things I have ever eaten, everything on the plate just tasted great together.
Last but not least the semifredo, not the easiest thing to eat on a plate (a bit hard frozen) but who cares when it tastes that good (word of caution we shared the dessert and it nearly resulted and a spoon fencing match to see who gets the last bite).
Awesome meal. Great starters....if you are ever in Bloemfontein, I recommend Avanti any time. The sirloin on the bone is a winner for me! Nice cocktails, and yes, they have Gaurdian Peak Shiraz on the menu! Enjoy!
My wife and I travelled to Bloemfontein for a wedding, and were looking for a romantic dinner, the night before the wedding.
We selected Avanti, and I am happy to say that it delivered on what was promised.
The flat bread starter was superb. I would recommend sharing this between 2-4 people, since the portion size is massive.
We enjoyed the Vrede en Lust - Jess rosé wine with our meal. A personal favourite of mine at a very reasonable price.
The main courses were exquisite. My wife had the wonderful Sorrento pasta, and I enjoyed a fillet steak with wild mushrooms. It was a massive piece of steak and I was pleasantly surprised that it was cooked medium rare throughout.
We ended up not getting desserts, mostly because the portion sizes were so large that neither of us had space for something sweet.
By biggest complement would have to be the server Marizanne. Professional, helpful and she made the night just that little bit more special.
On the downside, I would have to say that the place's decor can be improved upon. It is nice and modern, and one gets the feeling what the restaurant attempts to be, but it feels like they just fell short of the mark. I would suggest some more wall decorations, perhaps some more upbeat and modern background music and a more hands-on and visible manager.
Overall we enjoyed our night very much and would recommend Avanti to friends. I would love visiting the restaurant again when I am in town and see whether someone in charge has taken note of any customer feedback and taken Avanti to its full potential.
We shared a flatbread for starters, the toppings were fresh and plenty. I had the sorrento pasta for mains, it was full of flavour and the pasta was cooked perfectly al dente. My husband had a steak for mains, which was also cooked to perfection. This restaurant is reasonably priced taking into account the portion sizes. Our waitress, Marizane was excellent which made out experience more pleasant. I found the restaurant lacked in decor and ambience, but we still had a lovely time and would definitely return if we ever found ourselves in Bloemfontein again.
Came here for a family dinner on Friday night. We all had a different kind of fish for dinner. It was cooked to perfection! I definitely recommend the salmon.
Another favourite is the ravioli, it is amazing.
They have fantastic wine in the house. Service was good and with a smile.
Quaint little Italian restaurant in Bloem. I really enjoyed the food, great service and warm atmosphere. Make a booking beforehand as there os not a lot of space, adding to the intimacy. Great place fot date night. Highly recommended the Calamari Fritti.
