Went to New York based on recommendation. We were not disappointed as the service was of vey high standard. The meal preparation was perfect. I prefer my steak rare and most restaurants interpret that as rare to
medium. Not so at New York the steak arrived done to perfection.
The pepper sauce was also done quite well. Again an area where many restaurants fail miserably. A definite visit for all steak lovers when in Bloemfontein.
The restaurant has a pleasant atmosphere. The food met my expectations and somewhat exceeded them. I had a rump steak together with veggies and rice. The steak was cooked perfectly medium to rare. The steak melt in my mouth, as a steak should do. The staff was very friendly and professional. Small detail like a decent, subtle music playlist contributed to the experience. It is the perfect restaurant for a date.
New York restaurant is definitely the best place to enjoy steak in Bloemfontein. The atmosphere is very sophisticated and the service is excellent. My personal favorite is the steak Diane. I also highly recommended the chips and veg that accompany most dishes.
Received excellent service from a very professional waitress. The food was great and every steak at our table of ten perfectly cooked. Cannot fault this venue on anything. Good Old fashioned food prepared to perfection!

This more formal family oriented eatery, with a running American Theme, is located on Second Avenue has a varied offering ranging from Seafood to Steak.
To say that their portions are generous would be a great understatement, I had a Medium Steak Diane which was gorgeous and grilled to perfection

Came to Bloemfontein on business and was told by the locals that this is the place to eat dinner
First impression is it's fine dinning however the chairs are not the most comfortable and the decor could do with an improvement (I was told the restaurant is over 20 years old), so sat down and waited a little while to be served but when the waitress did get there she was very apologetic and after that no delay from her side she was alway around
I ate the Oysters and Carpaccio as a starter and my colleague had the Chicks Livers, we both hoovered the starters down they were that good
For main he had the fillet and was on point with how he wanted it while I had the Lamb Chops and they brought five of these babies and man they were good, really good and accompanied with large side orders of veggies
Desert I had the Creme Brûlée and was perfect
So all around we are good tasting food and apart from little hiccup of the girl not seeing to us for first 10min (when they were not busy) this place gets a 4.0

We had been looking for a special restaurant to celebrate a birthday. We couldn't have chosen better. All was perfect the staff attentive, the wine and food fabulous, and all at a very reasonable price. A must try
Have been frequenting this restaurant for over 20 years. Food consistent, service always good. Any Meat dish is always good but then again, this is Bloem afterall and meat is definitely a staple. They have set menus for a group party which makes ordering easy and they are very well priced.
The New York Restaurant has been around for over 25 years in Bloemfontein. Their food has always been consistent. My favourite is the Avocado Ritz for starts and the Spare Ribs. Absolutely amazing!!! Take your partner for that special night out.
This restaurant is one of the better ones in a small "town" like Bloem. It would never have gotten my 4 rating in the big city, but this is definitely a 4 for a small town. The service was excellent and the food was good old fashioned comfort food. The menu was varied with a heavier lean towards the red meat eaters (we are in Bloemfontein after all... Where chicken is considered a salad!). We took business clients out for supper and this was definitely a winner in terms of small town, conservative palate eaters. The food was safe and comfortable and gave us all a warm, fuzzy feeling on wholesomeness.
Last night we really challenge New York with a set menu with various options for starter and Mains for over 30 people. All the food was prepared to perfection, more than enough waiters to assist. All in all another excellent experience! Well done New York, keep it up!
It was an office function for the Kovsie Alumni Trust. It was mainly the Trustees.
The whole set-up was welcoming. We were seated in a lovely corner of the restaurant. The three course meal was exquisite. This was a genuinely lovely experience. Cheers to many more.
New York restaurants are a good value for money option. There was great service and had a very formal atmosphere, perfect for those special occasions. The only drawback is the food option list is quite narrow, there is not much room for choice.
I took the family out here for Thanksgiving lunch. It was fantastic. Everybody had a great time. The staff were very friendly. The food was great. The drinks were great! We loved the bar and the fact that it had a smoking section. We were there for almost 3 hours and we enjoyed every minute of it.

Here on business and there are few good restaurants in Bloemfontein but New York Restaurant (why that name? I don't know) has quality food in a good indoor setting.
I tried to search for other places on Google and many of the places that came up were not good (I drove to them). Gave this place a chance and I'm impressed with the food. The service has also been quite pleasant.
I had fish, the 200g king klip and it was not disappointing. It was served with 4 sides, which came as standard and everything tasted good. I was even persuaded to have baked cheesecake for dessert and that too was gorgeous.
The style is more dark brown leather and white cloth on tables.... relatively unassuming, perhaps stuffy but ok. It's not packed, I'm here on Wednesday night so not sure how it it for the rest of the week. It's got a smoking section by the bar and an outside facing section by the "stoop" (South African slang for balcony type place).
Next time I am here I will probably visit this place again. When you don't want to take chances in Bloemfontein, try New York Restaurant
Compliments to the chef for the most amazing meal, the meat was the best I have ever tasted, the flavors just kept coming.

It was Christmas day, so the service wasn't as good as expected, but that is understandable. The waiter was still good. The lamp was rich and soft and divine. The king clip was lovely too, a tiny bit overcooked, but I think it can be accounted for by hosting so many people within a two hour period.
I came with my partner. We were tended by this amazing person. I would love to know who she is to connect !
Loved everything about the place. Went there for a work dinner and when i say top service, i mean top service. We were a group of 19, ordered starters, mains and desert. Food did not take long to arrive, less than 15 to 20 minutes infact.
Our glassess never ran dry. The waiter was able to recommend really good offers on the menu and the ambiance is warm and inviting. Loved my experience there especially because we were in one of their private dining areas. Clean dining ware, clean restaurant. Cant fault it at all.
My only regret is not taking enough pictures.
One of the best Restaurants in South Africa. Its rating should be elevated to match to be amongst the best. They have excellent staff with super marvelous service.
Well managed, not surprising that they own the Chicago restaurant as well as the Hobbit guesthouse. The food is very good and the staff is well trained, very rare in this part of the country. Book before you show up especially over the weekend because they get quite busy. The menu however is a little confusing as the restaurant doesn't have a compass to work with, New York name is ok but there is nothing we know comes from New York when you talk about famous dishes, famous cuisine in South Africa are the Italian, Portuguese, Greek or Indian among others but here you can't tell which side of the taste will you end up having. The interior is beautiful however it lacks the comfortable sofas which these days are a standard for a restaurant of this category. The lighting is also very thoughtful, soft and gentle across the restaurant but I think the floor is a bit busy as they try to pack as many tables as they can given the social distance situation, it's a little overbearing.
The welcoming was so warm, and the service was on another level of warmth, I don't wanna touch the fact of the food, everything is eatable, nothing you can leave on your plate. The food is so so mouth watering 😋😋😋😋
What a delight. We were served by Niel. His service was excellent. The food was exceptional. Would recommend New York to any steak lover. The chocolate mouse was really good. Compliments to the chef.
It was good. Service was great. With the description on the menu I expected an little more on the food but overall good.
It was amazing!! Me and hubby went for date night its a bit pricy but thats the cost of fine dining. The food was perfect I have never tasted food like this before also the staff was super friendly and I would recommend for everybody!!!!!
