Exploring Cape Winelands

This is casual, not fine, dining in a great setting. Wonderful fresh hake and delicious calamari just the right texture. mussels and prawns chips and rice and a big mixed salad finished it off. Very generous portions. The platter for two easily feeds 3.
Benches on the raised deck outside let you gaze at the sea and there are penguins and Egyptian geese all nesting nearby. Betty's Bay mountains and the sea.... A lovely place to be. And dog friendly.
Highly recommended
Cute little restaurant right across from a 'landing location' for a jackass penguin colony. A lot of the restaurant's profits also go to penguin conservation.
Also, good chips and they're not shy using cheese in their toasti sandwiches
This was a pleasant surprise. I picked it because it got decent reviews and is right next to the penguin colony (cute little buggers). The fish and chips were great, as was the mixed berry mocktail, and the service was low-key but friendly.
Food was surprisingly good! Atmosphere not great. If you sat at the front you could see the water, but other than that, it had the feel of a cafeteria and every time someone opened the front door it would make a very loud alarm sound that was quite jarring.

Luna, thank you for your hospitality, friendliness and great laughter. You made our day even better. Your fried hake is the best I have tasted, so light with the butter sauce. Well recommend. Blessings
We came here to hide from the strong winds outside and ended up staying for a toastie. The menu is pretty straightforward and the service is friendly. There is also a small selection of penguin-related gifts available to purchase.
It is a very quaint, slightly old fashioned place with a cute selection of big block-mounted photographs of the local celebrity penguin couple, dassies and other natural treasures. The menu also has some special arty touches and enough reasonably priced choices. Our waitress was patient and friendly. The hake and chippies were perfectly prepared and pLEntiful, with added "geelrys" to ensure no chance of any remaining hunger! Deserts were delicious too!!
I agree with others about the casual atmosphere, which makes everything that much better. The food is out of this world. For beverages, they offer a hot cup Java Jupitero, a Milky Way Bar Shake and a few droplets of water. The Venusian Vinaigrette tops off an excellent Saturnalia Salad, and the tuna was baked through with just the right amount of Mercury. Exceptional dessert dishes include the Moon's North Wind Cookie and the Martianmallow Chocolate Pie. The Edge also serves all of this as a last meal to those on South Africa's death row. That meal finishes off with the unfortunate diner's consumption of the Xenomorph Chest Burster, a rather acidic kind of chile pepper derived from the blood of the Alien, that works its way through the digestive system like a corrosive. After several days of agony, two birds have been killed with one stone: the last meal and the actual execution, thus saving taxpayers dozens of dollars.
Lovely fresh seafood, super friendly staff. We were a party of 5. Food arrived in less than 20 minutes and everything was very tasty and fresh. Beautiful location too
The edge restaurant is a very trendy and up market venue although they are not always open, they thrive when they have functions there. Food and service of the highest quality can be expected. This, accompanied by the stunning view makes it a great place to visit.
The food here is excellent. The fish chips and calamari was really fresh and well prepared. The setting and location of this restaurant is excellent, watch the penguins and the ocean while you have a bite. It can get busy in the holidays. Unfortunately they are not licensed. Unfortunately they dont print menus you have to go look at the one on the wall which is why they loase a star. To be expected whn busy the service is slower but understandable as it makes no sense to employ an army if business is seasonal. Still worth the visit. Tios for the owner - print some menus and laminate them cheao but effective. And an extra umbrella on the veranda will also be a good addition
I gave a 4 for service because the waiter first had to confirm if they would still be open (I approached them at 15:45) She returned and stated they'll be open until 16:00 It later turned out to be until 17:00. A waiter should know the times, even more on special days (it was Mother's Day).
Service could be more accommodating by cheching on your patrons if everything is ok, or suggesting certain items on the menu. Kudos for the 10% discount upon the item I chose (platter for 2), but it was only mentioned after the item was ordered. The platter was HUMONGOS and could easily be shared by 4 persons!
Best seafood we have had in a while at such a reasonable price.
Richard our waiter was full of life and made the experience even better.
Will definitely go back.
Great Seaview.
This little restaurant is a true gem. The service was great. The food was out of this world the best I have had in a long time.
We went for the hake and chips and it was amazing. The fish had a light crispy batter and the chips was made to perfection. But... the main thing was the sauce i ordered. The garlic butter sauce they make is the biggest winner.
The experience was brilliant. The food was delicious. The value for money was out of this world. This is the best we have had this year so far. A MUST
Delicious seafood with a view. Also has the best Penguin viewing in WP and its free. Would definately come back.
Be prepared to wait a while for your food, staff wasn't very friendly, but boy oh boy the food was delicious. Probably one of the best burgers I have ever had. Take the wet wipes, because it's big, juicy and messy.
The food was excellent. Portions was more than enough. The waiter Preston was professional and well mannered. The view was breathtaking and the penguins a must to see.
