Review Villa Funchal - Benoni

Amazing value for money, great food and excellent service. Nathi is the best waiter you'll find, check out his sense of humor too

If comfort food was a place, this is that place. The live music was fantastic last night, what a talented young individual. Food, Portuguese perfection of the genre.

The portions are large, and the food excellent. My pork trinchado was so tender I hardly had to use my fork. The marinades, sauces and bastings are unique to each dish, and the service really good. Highly recommend it to anyone

New to the area and tried Villa Funchal last night. Was pleasantly surprised, the chicken, chips and salad was lovely with their special peri peri sauce 😁 I would recommend it any night of the week for a relaxing evening out. Service was great and Mpho the manager was super professional, friendly and helpful. Thanks guys, keep up the good work and here's hoping business will soon be booming!!!

We had a seafood platter. The food was delicious, beats Ocean Basket by country mile, better quality, bigger prawns, better taste. The only thing is I feel it should come with two fish. Delicious bread, great service, we will be back.

Very chilled and very good place to unwind ,their meals are always fresh and the waiters sense of if humour is out of this world .I could go there everyday given a chance and time .

Love the new venue. Good food good prices. Kevin is a great host as always. Excellent seafood. I personally love the crumbed pork. Going to make it a weekly spot.

The food was amazing the only 'downside' I can come up with, were the lack of atmosphere. The staff is some of the friendliest you will find and they are well versed on the menu and have great suggestions on what is good. A lovely little place, will certainly visit again to try more items on the menu. There are also many items on the menu that you will nor find in a 'normal' run of the mill restaurant. This place is perfect for a romantic dinner for two though. Or even just to grab a few beers ourltside in the garden. Apart from the negative points I did mention, certainly a lovely piece of Portugal in the heart of Benoni.

I want to recommend Villa Funchal! This is the place when I got introduced to portuguese traditional food! The staff and owner Kevin are very attentive and friendly! Every time we return there becomes a new memories to treasure!

I've just got back from there and have to admit the food was delicious but the price of red wine was diabolical. How can you not offer a house red blend at a reasonable price. Sorry we won't be back.

calamari is delicious. but apparently they don't have their liquor licence yet ? managed to find us 2 beers and some wine but it was a bit strange

Peri Peri chicken was the best I have ever had, could not resist ordered an extra one to take home. Seeing the mother in law has been this good.

Some how Villa Funchal manages to transport me to a beautiful Foreign City every time I frequent the place, Just sitting outside underneath the stars and interacting with the friendly staff, not to mention the fantastic food and new bar area with menu that has opened up! This is my go to place!

Deplorable, dirty, drunk people everywhere, buffet, I guess I couldn't have expected more for Benoni- I'm
So let down by this place, I will never be back

I have eaten at Villa funchal so many times, I can't keep track.Β Even had platters made up for office functions.Β All delicious.Β
I've never had the need to send anything back - EVER.
My regular back up for a quick bite without the frills.
Great staff, good music and even better prices.
Love the place !!!!

Did the Portuguese festival this Sunday. Lovely buffet that was put out. Espetata was exceptionally tasty. The Portuguese rolls was amazing! Definitely good for a Sunday lunch

Not exactly a dream location, and the service was average, at best. There is a lovely large play area for children, and the food was pretty good. I had trinchado starter which was made in delicious sauce and a really beautifully seasoned espetada for mains. They didn't get the rare exactly right, which is always a bit annoying.

Great Sunday afternoon spot for a big lunch, some chilled live music and great service. Little bit of a let down on the Portuguese steak. But nice afternoon.

Oh my word! What a surprise - old, dingy, bad part of town - but what a place! Straight out of the '60's - but the sign says "Best Porra Restaurant......." - and they do not lie! An indication is that the parking is full. Friendly waitresses, good wine selection, menus in chalk in the wall. Had maybe my best ever Trinchado! Melt in your mouth stuff! I will detour in future to have a meal here.

Old school Portuguese food in proper old school setting πŸ‘πŸ‘‰πŸ½ pop in for a lunch with the locals! Gotta do the Pregos or the trinchado and chipsπŸ‘Œ

It's got great Portuguese food - more for a lunch than a dinner. And rather for a pub lunch then anything else. Not a very clean restaurant but yes its got an authentic feel. Outside it looks very hmmmmm scaly?

Great family restaurant with the best Portuguese food. Great setup for kids and a live band on Sunday's. Not your traditional clean restaurant but based more on a relaxed authentic feel.
