Highly recommended place and I must say I’m pleasantly surprised at this “hidden jewel “ Stunning decor and the food is out of this world Staff are very professional and have a warmth that make you feel at ease, they will be happy to assist you connecting to the free WiFi. Attention to detail is amazing. There is definitely a New York feel to this place with a books filling the walls. There are younger folks here working on their laptops and enjoying the ambiance. Outside area - for those that smoke Top point - wheel chair friendly to all areas inside the restaurant Make this place your “place to celebrate “ they block off part of the restaurant for private parties at a nominal fee. PS they have a liquor license and supply wine and I saw a wide range there on the well presented table . I have seen the set up and it looks amazing. The customer can choose from a verity of snacks and cold meats that are presented very tastefully ( chefs obviously present these platters )

Good food! Good service! Great place with a nice easy going atmosphere. Unbelievable that such a nice place is in the middle of the suburbs. Well worth and can recommend it.

I had so much fun at this unique and interesting place. Books adorn book shelves along the walls, an antique piano stands before an eclectic stylish dining room. The intriguing details make this charming cafe a great place to enjoy on your own, but even better in a group like I had on Saturday. My friends and I had a blast, enjoying all the delicious variety of drinks. The food was good too, but the drinks were awesome. Try the cheese cake milkshake or refresher cocktail but the winner is an iced latte for the coffee lovers! Thanks to the staff for making my surprise impromptu engagement celebration extra special, 🍹🥂💐

Excellent Café. A well hidden gem. Their breakfast was fresh, well prepared and served in just the right time. The cuppachino was decadent and lovely. The staff are friendly and courteous. The owner takes personal pride in the food served. The decor is in a category of it's own. If you like National Geographic there are a huge amount for perusal while you wait for your food. The menu is simple yet it covers a nice variety. A quaint little quirk is how your bill is presented. To find out how you will just have to come experience the Social Cafè.

Loved the ambiance. Nothing was too much trouble. My 4 year old granddaughter loved all the books too. Definitely go again but next time for something to eat

Having driven past on nearly a daily basis since they opened I was dying to give The Social House a try and decided to pop in for a family brunch. The decor is amazing with a hip coffee shop/cafe vibe with various seating options from the traditional table to a cosy armchair. Staff were welcoming, friendly and really helpful. The owner seems hands-on and popped past our table to explain to the kids how to fold the 'origami fortune teller'. We started off our visit with coffee and hot chocolates, the coffee isn't the best but it's not terrible. My wife and I both ordered 'The Beef Sandwich' on light seed bread (Which is served as an open sandwich) and the kids both had the Nutella & Orea Flapjacks and ice-cream. All the food was really tasty even though the beef was a bit on the tough side. There isn't a dedicated kids area however, there is enough to keep them occupied at the table. Will definitely go back!

Love popping into this eclectic, "jazzy bookshop" feel coffee shop & restaurant. Going to the Social House is beyond a treat, you feel like a little sojourn from the daily grind will definitely give you a great "pick me up", whether it's a cappuccino or light meal, you are in for a relaxing time here!

18.05.2019 Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, yet sometimes I will eat lunch items for breakfast. We went to The Social House for breakfast recently and it's quite a lovely quirky spot.

It's full of books, for the bookworms with seating inside and out. They have a decent variety on their menu. I couldn't help but try the Chilli Hot Chocolate as it was cold that morning, it was delicious. It has just a good amount of kick and was lovely, accompanied with a block of Chocolate, and I absolutely loved the fact that everyone that ordered drinks got a glass of water as standard procedure.

For meals, I had the Steak Roll and my family had the Breakfast and the Eggs Benedict. My Steakroll flavour was really tasty, just my meat was a bit on the chewy side. The fries were delicious especially using it to lick up the sauce from my roll. 😂 The family enjoyed their meals too.

We didnt try any of the cakes etc, but they looked pretty good in the showcase.

I noticed on the one wall there were medals hanging. They have this fantastic initiative that if you have old medals lying around at home that you no longer want or need you can donate it to them. They then give it to kids at children's hospital that have gone through a scary procedure, so that they can feel brave and confident afterwards How awesome is that! 🎖🏅🥇🥈🥉

The staff are friendly and helpful and it makes the experience even more pleasant. Will definitely come back again to try out more.

#TheFoodMusketeer
#TheFoodMusketeerEats
#TheFoodMusketeerDrinks
#TFMTheSocialHouse
Been there twice now. The food is delicious with friendly staff. Love the decor! Great place to start of the weekend with a healthy breakfast or full on indulgence. Has an option for the weight conscious and if you feel like having a cheat day.

2018/04/10 - definitely has the right name - a real social place. Spent most of the day there. Great atmosphere. Indoor and outdoor under roof seating. We ordered the chicken burger - chicken strips in a croissant - a pleasant change from the usual chicken breast on a bun. We also ordered the salmon burger - a very tasty salmon fish cake on a toasted croissant. Both meals were served with chips and salad and were delicious. The milkshakes are a must have - unusual flavors and really thick and good.

I’ve had an eye on this establishment via Zomato for almost a year. I’ve also driven past but somehow the photos on Zomato and the outside of the restaurant/cafe just didn’t draw me in.

Today however we took a chance and decided to give it a try, after first taking a reccie before going in.

What a fantastic find and surprise it turned out to be. The owner Beulah, has an eye for the unusual and for detail. It reflects in the layout and decor. Obviously a lot of thought has gone into everything. The book theme permeates throughout, right down to a wonderful book on the table and another that had the bill enclosed in it. There is a very comfy and warm and relaxing atmosphere and the tables are well spaced out. There is a small outside patio and the inside consists of different partitions and levels, and a section of beautiful wooden floor.

Our waitress was, unfortunately for us, brand new and struggled to answer our questions about the menu. She did however get someone to help her plus she was friendly and pleasant.

I ordered their gourmet cheese burger. I thought it was a bit pricey at R95 but it did have a side salad and chips. The meal was served on a wooden platter board and the presentation was extremely inviting. We eat first with our eyes and I couldn’t wait to tuck into this 8 inch high burger. The crisp, fresh and firm salad had a delicious dressing and the chips had a more’ish chip spice on them.
The burger bun was lightly grilled and the patty perfectly cooked. I really enjoyed the juicy and yummy burger.

My wife had a chicken & bacon salad with a very cute home cooked bran mini loaf, accompanying it. She thoroughly enjoyed it.

My daughter had a mini kiddies burger and chips off the kiddies menu.

To end off I had a double espresso and that was the weakest element of the otherwise great meal. I think a bit more investigation could go into serving the perfect size, strength and quantity of espresso. Also a smaller espresso size teaspoon would be better.

Overall we felt welcomed and relaxed at this local neighbourhood establishment and had a really well presented and tasty meal. Like a said, a great find!!

We will definitely go back to try some of the other options on the menu and sit back and chill.

My wife and I had chicken soup which was absolutely dillisious. Great cappuccino can recommend it. Very tranquil place to have a great coffee and to read a good book. The service was great and the staff are very friendly.
