Had an absolutely great lunch at Ocean basket Tygervalley, friendly staff, and the freshest, crispiest batter I've had at all the ocean baskets I've been to, would definitely recommend this to anyone. Try the Mediterranean rice balls... Amazing!!

Went there for lunch on Sunday. We ordered platter for two. Platter is quite big, a lot of food. Mostly it is was good, except that they add lots of butter to the food making it too oily. Also mussels didn’t have any flavour. But other than that we enjoyed the meal and enjoyed the atmosphere there. Waiter was friendly.
Went on 3 July 2022 just after 5pm (I think they close at 7pm on a Sunday). Had the cosmopolitan to share (it was very sweet) and you can get about 6 glasses out of it. We also ordered a seafood platter for 2 and it was very delicious. A big thank you to our server, Duncan for his friendliness and assistance. They played really good music as well.
What a lovely experience I had the mussels with chips (I skipped, but you also get extra rice) and was more than satisfied with both portion size and taste. The strater bread was heavenly as well (dip it in the sauce for the mussels!)
Also, our waiter Turbulence (awesome name) was absolutely lovely. Made great recommendations, always approached us with a smile, he was not there too much, but was never hard to get to either. He hit the sweet spot very well. We also saw how cool they handle birthdays. They celebrate im a greek fashion, you should come here to find out what I mean, I can't do it justice with a few words. The music was also on point the whole evening.

Great experience all round. Located on the upper section of the Foodcourts at Tygervalley Shopping Centre. Friendly staff welcomes you as you enter and make sure your needs are taken care of throughout. A favourite is the Fish and Chips complemented by a Greek Salad. Layout of the restaurant is great with good views onto the entire middle section of the Centre. One can also request specific add-ons for birthdays and other celebrations.
The fish was cooked to perfection, food was a 12/10!! Staff is super friendly and food served super quick as well.
This visit definitely showed me that Ocean Basket is a true force to be reckoned with, in the sea food restaurant space.
Every single element on this plate, including those soft and delicious buns, was out of this world.
It certainly won't be long before my return.
I would just like to thank Walter for the awesome service we received earlier this evening. My husband and I made dinner reservations at a well known 5 star restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. The service and food was so terrible that we ended up walking out. Our last visit to OB Hazendal and a few others prior to that was super disappointing. We decided we done with OB for good. To be honest OB was the last restaurant I thought I'd end up celebrating our special day. It was also one of the only restaurants still open. I'm so glad we ended up at OB Tygervalley . The food was amazing and Walter made our evening extra special with a special "anniversary treat" Thank you for restoring our faith in OB. I will definitely visit again.
Ocean Basket is one of our favourite places to indulge in seafood.

I used to go to OB regularly for my fish fix but can’t stand the mall anymore. So going today was the first time I got to see the new shop and I like it. The old decor got a bit dated. The new shop looks great but even beter is that the quality of service and the product stayed excellent. R300 for the platter for 2 is fair although I always end up wanting more prawns but that is just because it is so damn good. And now they have craft beer as well so maybe I should brave the mall more often, afterall fish is high is some omega 3 thingy which is apparantly good for you, more than the cajun spice.
Really bright and Morden , neat and great service fresh food 🍱 I loved my grilled fish and the service was fast like they knew I was rushing
