The service was good and cakes were nice too. We ordered a pink velvet cake and a blue velvet cake for two girls. The only thing I wish it to improve is the blue velvet cake to be lighter in colour, like the baby blue on the outside. The blue was too dark and my tongue was blue till next day.

The cake was amazing - but the communication is lacking majorly after paying for the order and knowing that the store has successfully received payment and is “on it”. Thing a quick call from the shop to say, hello we will be ready confirming the order will make this an amazing experience to get the service an the quality of the cakes on equal standards...

Still the most delicious store bought cake even though the company has upscaled so much since its small beginnings (I've been a fan right from the start). It's a pity that this store is closing since they have moved on to having shops in the malls. One bit of advice, I miss seeing all the different cakes and choosing a slice and SITTING DOWN to enjoy it. Since Soet's cake has become sh##ty, stock them!

Best cake ever. Love the teams at Tygervalley store. . Only bummer is if you have the odd complaint it seems to be blown off online, only seem to respond to osetive feedback or suggestions , But other than that I will keep supporting. The also have a loyalty card (I filled up a few hehe) and this was my review on yesterday's carrot cupcake Oooh we got ours (blue velvet) and the carrot cupcakes.... Only had the carrot so far. . HOLY MOLY... God must have known my heart needed extra cream cheese frosting, my cupcake was loaded, so bless the hands that iced them. It was the best carrot cake I had from you guys since you opened... Honestly it was so fresh... I would go for a second if I had any space hehe.. Thank you for the good cake.. Looking forward to my blue vvet one tomorrow. And once again, Tygervalley crew is the best ❤️

The most magnificent cake you will ever buy. Every bite is moist, beautiful and so deliciously addictive. 100% recommend. Everyone deserves to have tasted a slice of their rainbow cake at least once in their lives.

Your paid advertising on instagram for sure worked on me! On the same day I saw the ad, I made the mission to grab some delicious treats. For my first time there, I was slightly disappointed at the ambiance. Two employers were on their phone and not once looked up to acknowledge new customers. All in all, the employees looked sad. I was taken aback by that since it was such a beautiful day as well! But the vanilla slice certainly made the trip worth it.

The best place for cupcakes and cakes. Such an amazing velvety texture and sweet taste. There is a large variety that tempts you to buy all the various colorful cupcakes on display. As much as I love this place, I can’t say my diet is too fond of it.

Nice place for breakfast. The cakes look amazing and I should really make a point of tasting them but the breakfast has never disappointed and the service is good.

OK, so I must admit, I’ve never been to the physical store, but I’ve had the cupcakes from The Velvet Cake Co. on several occasions and every time they are an absolute delight. <br/>Their Red Velvet and Carrot cupcakes are amazing, but the Sweetie Pie cupcake is my new favourite. The topping is decadently rich, fluffy, not too sweet and has more than enough chocolate. The base is moist and chocolaty and it's the perfect less sweet accompaniment to the indulgent topping. Nom, nom, nom!

We bought cupcakes to take as a gift to the family hosting us for dinner and it was the perfect choice. The Velvet Cake Co. has a stellar reputation and are consistently delicious. The cake itself is moist and the icing is to die for. It’s abundant and smooth but not too sweet - definitely my favourite part.

I can't say that I've ever been disappointed in a cake from The Velvet Cake Company as of yet - moist, tasty, delicious. Some of the cakes are a tad too sweet for my liking and I could do with a little bit less frosting, although I understand that it adds to the look of the cakes and cupcakes. I wish their cupcakes were a bit smaller as I find them difficult to finish, but it is by no means a deal breaker. I like the look of the shop - it's fun and quirky and what you'd expect of a little cake shop. They also offer some cake toppers which are a nice touch if you need something for a special occasion. The staff are generally friendly and helpful and the packaging is just adorable.

Upon arrival I’ll admit the place wasn’t quite what I was expecting from the pictures online but the cakes were fresh and moist! Unfortunately, the rainbow cake’s icing didn’t taste like anything which was confusing... but the chocolate cake was the stuff dreams are made of! <br/><br/>The manager wasn’t friendly but was redeemed by the staff who served us with smiles on their faces. There was adequate parking nearby which was quite nice.<br/><br/>It’s a nice place to grab a slice of cake to enjoy elsewhere.

We were very dissapointed. This wasn't my first time at Velvet Cake Co. It is always such a pleasure walking in this store and cakes always look so beautiful and delicious. Velvet Cake Co. has lovely treats, however I was very dissapointed this time round. We ordered the lemon poppy cupcake and red velvet cream cheese cupcake. The cream cheese icing did not taste like cream cheese. All we could tatse was an overload of butter, on both cakes! Butter icing can be great but this was not. Obviously we expected a cream cheese icing on the red velvet cupcake and felt a bit decieved. If we knew it was going to be a butter icing we might have ordered something else. After digging into both cupcakes we regret buying them. Ultimately this is not the type of response you want. Overall the service was good and store presentation is cute. I love this store and hope to have a better experience next time!

The cakes are amazing and the service very good! Would love to see it turn into a proper coffee shop vibe!! There is very little space to sit if you want to have a piece of cake with your bestie and chat about life.

Velvet co. is a beautiful little cake store, that has a very welcoming atmosphere as soon as you walk in <br/><br/>It definitely has one of the best cakes and cupcakes I have indulged in. Not only are the delights beautiful to look at, they taste amazing and are moist and yummy as a cake should be. <br/><br/>It has definitely become my go to cake place.

I was very excited to go to this place and couldn't stop talking about the fact that I want to go, all because of how the people were raving about it on Zomato. We believe that it's way overrated. <br/><br/>We went inside and there were two ladies working there. The one busy putting out cakes and the other on her phone. None of them greeted us, until we greeted them. Neither of them looked interested in giving us service; and there were not other customers when we walked in. <br/><br/>So we went to choose the cupcakes, and a lady helped us, not friendly at all. (I'm mentioning this as many people were saying how friendly the service is.) As she was putting the cakes in the box, we stood around feeling uncomfortable. She then told us that they didn't have any regular coffee, just decaf. So we decided to go for coffee at another place, which was a let down. <br/><br/>After tasting the cakes, I'm not sure I'll go back. It wasn't bad, but I do believe it is very overrated. The Red Velvet was half cake, half icing, and very sweet, but I'm sure some people likes that. <br/><br/>The place is decorated very cute inside, but decor can just do that much without friendly service. We are very disappointed. I guess my expectations were too high.

Extremely disappointed. Arranged with the owner or manager a week in advanced that I was coming through all the way from Hermanus to do cake tasting for my wedding only to arrive and no one having any knowledge of us coming and most of the cakes sold out. We were told a specific cake/cupcake would be kept aside for us which obviously was not. What a disappointment!!!!!

First timers....bought the coco chanel cake....and i must say....what a cake....nice and fluffy,chocolaty sweet cake.....keep it up...definitly wanna try more of their products....

Their cake is literally the best in town. <br/>When you buy cake from them you get it in a beautifully branded light blue box with all their different cakes on offer, represented as icons as the pattern on the box. <br/>It's the little details that make this bakery so special.<br/>I'm definitely a fan girl.

Pretty much guaranteed of an amazing treat when you step into here! My favourites are the milk tart cupcake and red velvet classic.. Of course I wouldn't say no to any of them though ;) and there coffee isn't too shabby either! Make sure to pick up a cupcake loyalty card

I was here last week getting cupcakes for my grandpa's birthday :) The staff are always friendly! The ambience, well I mean you're surrounded by cakes... what could be better than that! I really appreciated the fact that I didn't need to worry about ordering them in advance, I was told on the phone that they always have a full fresh selection daily and when I arrived, they really did have a full selection... the vanilla caramel and the humming bird (banana, pineapple and almond) were the best! <br/><br/>Quality, friendly staff, hassle free and affordability! Best!

Was on a brunch time hunger drive and found this well rated cake house. So decided to drive to this place. There is no much parking slots available and parked it somewhere outside near a housing estate area assuming that I will quickly decide on some cup cakes and get back to work. I reached this place after some brisk walking and got in. The place is quite small but very beautiful with all sorts of cakes and pastries. Hell there was even a queue at the counter. I took the lemon cake and jumped into the queue. After a few mins I pay and ask if they have cakes for special occasions like anniversaries as such and will they be writing names and all but it seems they don't it. Bad luck since my friend's wedding anniversary was around the weekend. Anyway the cake was amazing and worth their rating.

This place just never let's you down!! I even had my wedding cake made here 😉 Amazing cupcakes, cakes and the cake cup is delicious. Even the coffee is great. My favourite is the Milk tart cupcake and the rainbow cakes. Wish I could eat here erday 🤗

From the online ordering, to the day of collection....it was a seamless, uncomplicated, and pleasant experience. <br/><br/>We ordered the naked rainbow pinata cake for my son's birthday....and boy was it a hit from adult to kid. Visually it was exciting and promised to be more so when we cut the first slice and all the sweet surprises drizzled out.<br/><br/>The taste did not disappoint....moist fluffy cake with the most delicious cream cheese icing.<br/><br/>This is what sweet dreams are made of 😇😇😇😇

The Velvet Cake Co. has never disappointed me in the last couple of years and always exceeded my expectations. Unfortunately, when I recently ordered the naked rainbow cake for my birthday, I was shocked to see that it was almost half the size than it previously was. It took away the "wow factor" of the cake and did not look as impressive as it used to. I was really underwhelmed. Although it is still the most delicious cake I have ever eaten, I feel that other regular customers will also feel the same. <br/>Please do not let your standard drop, because this truly is the most amazing cake shop I know!

The milktart cupcakes are the way to my heart. Ive never had a bad cupcake from them. Always fresh and innovative. Love that they have novelties to make up gifts right there in store. Perfect gift for anyone and the coffees are pretty good too

One of the best places to buy cakes or sweet things or to just go for a nice cup of tea. We usually go an buy a few cup cakes and enjoy a wonderful afternoon tea with some friends and family. The owners are so sweet (must be from their cakes) and the staff are and welcoming. The cafe also has such a happy feeling and is always good to go visit.

Hugely overrated and extremely expensive now catering for the high society who wants to be fashionable. I loved the quiches but will never buy from them again.  Cakes are getting more expensive while shrinking in size. Not worth the money.

I want to cry every time I walk into this store because I'm incredibly indecisive and their treats always exceed my expectations.<br/>I've come up with a personal rule to order something different every time I swing by, so this time I went with the "Milk Tart Cupcake" and boy was I blown away.  This cupcake was packed with flavours, and the cupcake itself balances out the sweetness of the "milktart" frosting.<br/><br/>My only qualm is the size of the store, the seating arrangements and the lack of wifi

I think I've finally visited this place enough to write a proper review on it! The Velvet Cake Co... Absolute cake heaven and a very dangerous place if you have a bit of a sweet tooth. Get locked up in here overnight and they'll be rolling you out in the morning!<br/><br/>Having heard so much about their amazing cakes and cupcakes, I decided to order a caramel cheesecake for a special occasion - a four course dinner that I was doing for Christmas Eve. Yes, I know it's cheating, but who can beat a deliciously fresh, homemade cheesecake with generous frosting, decorated with cherries and glitter? And the best part was that it tasted just as good as it looked! I ordered the cake online relatively hassle free and it was ready for collection at the time I specified. <br/><br/>My second Velvet Cake Co experience was a cupcake feast, featuring the likes of their famous red velvet cupcake, vanilla, chocolate and carrot cake cupcakes. To be honest, I was slightly underwhelmed by the red velvet one - expected so much from it, but it turned out to be a bit dry. However, the chocolate, vanilla and carrot cake cupcakes definitely made up for it! I loved the generous icing (one can never have too much icing!) and the lovely moist cake, literally fresh from the oven. The vanilla was filled with caramel, which was a huge treat for my dad who absolutely loves caramel! Plus they were beautifully presented in the cutest little paper cups - perfect to stick a fork in and enjoy it like a mini cake.<br/><br/>Moving on the the savory side of things, a special mention must go to their quiches, which, although quite rich, are very tasty! Obviously sweet treats aren't their only speciality. My favorite is the bacon and mushroom (you just can't go wrong with bacon). I've also tried the chicken and pepperdew, which was also good, but a bit dry for my liking. <br/><br/>Finally, today I had my first sit down coffee and cake at their cafe. I ordered a red cappuccino, which was brought to me promptly and tasted delicious. Paired with a slice of Coco Channel chocolate cake... My life is complete now! I think I'll be dreaming about the cake tonight.<br/><br/>With so many deliciously sinful options to choose from, you just can't help returning to this fantastic gem of a bakery. It's the go-to place if you need cupcakes for a party, a cake for a special occasion, or just a treat to bring home to the family. Highly recommended!

The Velvet Cake Co is an unbelievable bake-away (take away bakery). They don't have much seating, so this is a place to pick up a coffee and a decadent slice. The coffee is the only thing that is not otherworldly about TVCC, and it's still not bad. Their cakes (well, the few I have tasted) are excellent, and their quiches are the best that I have tasted. Their sweets selection is sinful! The best option for a birthday party (which we used them for - both cakes and quiche). An essential visit for any sweet-tooth.

What a delightful little spot I can't believe it took me so long to make my way here. I took a while to make a decision what to eat because their cakes and cupcakes are so pretty and so many amazing choices. They have a wide range of desserts.

The cakes are consistently well decorated. Fresh, tasty little cakes that don't taste anything like a hypermarket Cupcake. A total pleasure. The icing was completely smooth, creamy and rich. It's not one of those icings that become too rich or sweet after the second bite.<br/><br/>Value for money too and you can order their creations online.<br/><br/>They do have a few seating spaces, but this is really a tea time take away.<br/><br/>Divine.

So Iv been here a few times and it's my go to shop when it's someone's birthday to buy them a little treat. On Friday I felt like hot chocolate so I poped in and saw they had a flavour cupcake that I never tried before. Peanut Butter Pie. <br/>Well needless to say it probably one of the nicest cupcakes I have ever had! A little biscuit base with a moist chocolate cake topped with this creamy peanut butter icing encased with dark chocolate! <br/>Treat yourself and get it! It's amazing :) :)

Bought all three of my 21st birthday cakes at The Velvey Cake Co. Fabulous looking and seriously delicious. Would recommend it to anyone. Arguably better than Charly's in terms of the cake itself.

My bf and I went to Velvet Cake Co. Yesterday. I took him there as a little surprise date for the tasting I've been reading about here. Unfortunately they did not do it at the shop it self anymore, they only did cake tasting alone at the coffee shop in the next door. To my disappointment it was not as previous people have mentioned with the sparkling wine and the cupcakes or quiche and coffee but just a list of cakes which I was allowed to choose 4 from and receive half a slice @R70. The cake was amazing some not so fresh or out of stock but others was the best I have ever had. Top 4 I would say is the millionaires cheesecake, red velvet cake, cocoa Chanel and lemon meringue. All and all it was yummy cake but the original tasting would have been more fun. The service is friendly and helpful as well.

Lets not forget the tea and coffee which is essential.<br/><br/>When I arrived I was greeted with a warm smile and the most yummy smells. I was instantly blown away by the spread of deliciousness around me, and found it very difficult to choose only a few options.. who said I cant have my cake and eat it?<br/><br/>Of course my first choice had to be something “red velvet” and because I was going to try a few different things, I opted for the Velvet cup. I also chose their chocolate and caramel cup. (its caramel.. need I say more?)<br/><br/>By this stage I hadn’t even reached their refrigerated section which stocks all their cupcakes. MY WORD it was difficult keeping myself from buying them all. they have vanilla and caramel cupcakes, chocolate cupcakes, red velvet cupcakes and to my delight, they have a chocolate and vanilla sweetie pie cupcake.. yes, this is what I couldn’t leave the store without.<br/><br/>Overall I was really impressed and would definitely recommend it – whether you want to sit down with some girlfriends, or just to pick up some treats for home. I won't go back... This was the third time i went and received bad service. Yesterday i went in store to buy a birthday cake for my mom. They had a beautiful cheesecake om display. The sales person refused to sell me that cake stating it was only for the store. Eventually i was able to buy the cheesecake and bought 6 melktert and 6 red velvet cupcakes. The melktert cupcakes were off and made my guests ill! How embarrassing! After bad service and getting ill i don't think they are worth the effort.

The carrot cake is excellent! THE Best! Then I tried the apple cake. Wow!! I havent see adults devouring a cake so quickly. Defininately worth a try!!<br/><br/>I tried the chocolate and carrot cupcakes and it is absolutely divine!!!

Easy to order, great service and a beautiful product which complements any special occasion. Am looking forward to them opening their second outlet in the CBD.

By far THE best cake in the northern suburbs! Their quiches are also amazing and full of filling. We recently ordered their new velvet cup cakes and it was life-changing amazing!

GOOD.GOLLY.MISS.MOLLY! These cupcakes are absolutely heavenly! I had the Red Velvet Cupcake with Meringue topping and lemon inside and it was a real treat! My friend had the sweetie pie cupcake which looked phenomenal - not only are they beautifully presented but also taste absolutely delish!<br/><br/>What treat!!!

If you have a sweet tooth or perhaps you require a cake or other delicious treat then look no further than Velvet cake Co. Ive just had a red velvet cupcake that was absolutely delicious. If I got locked in this place overnight you would find me the next morning curled up in a diabetic coma clutching my distended belly with frosting covering the entire surface area of my head and shoulders. Bravo.

I'm sure without the "Grab a box and fill it with cupcakes" sign, one is more than likely to do so anyway and with so many mouth watering treats it's hard to choose just one! My favourite was the s'mores cupcake, the layer of biscuit under the moist chocolate cupcake just added that little extra taste and crunch. Next was the naughty pie, picture a sweetie pie ON TOP of a cupcake! Mmmm, deliciousness!! The staff were super friendly and the store is full of bright colours and fun decor.

So I can't believe it's taken me so long to write this review, but this place is amazing! The cupcakes are to die for and with different flavours like maple syrup and bacon, there's no way you won't find something you like!<br/><br/>They treated is to an amazing morning of cupcake and Kleine Zalze champagne pairing as well as coffee and savoury tart pairing afterwards! I couldn't possibly explain how decadent and tasty the cupcakes were and the savoury tarts were out of this world!! The tarts were made at Treat, the restaurant next door, so that's absolutely my next stop!

Can it get any better???!?!?!???? I think NOT! My son told me about this wonderful place so I decided to pop in and take a look. I was not disappointed. I am from Louisiana and was looking for a great Red Velvet Cake. It was moist, light and scrumptious. Over the past year, I have bought cakes from them. So yum! Friendly staff. Delicious cakes. Velvet Cake Co. might be a hidden gem at the moment, but I am sure it won't be for much longer. A place like this cannot possibly stay a secret...<br/><br/>We start off with the cake shop part of Velvet: cosy, colourful and incredibly vibrant. Cake boxes line shelves on a wall, which you can pull down and start filling with some of the most incredible treats you will ever eat. There were puffs (cupcakes topped with meringue and dipped in different toppings, like crushed cookies, sprinkles, coconut or bacon and maple), brownies, chocolate clusters, glorious chocolate cupcakes, red velvet cupcakes, Sweetie Pie cupcakes and milk tart cupcakes (one of which I bought and ate for breakfast the next day, and nearly lost my mind over. Seriously, I can still smell that warm, cinnamon-y deliciousness and will now hanker for more until I can get another fix).<br/><br/>There are also large cakes placed around the room, including the Coco Chanel with Lindt balls, cake cups (layers of cake and filings or icings, in a easy-to-indulge-from plastic cup), along with savoury treats - muffins, and quiches encased in the most delicate-looking phyllo pastry. You can also buy buy laser-cut decorative words to finish your cake off. There isn't really any place to sit down and enjoy any of the treats, but don't worry, they have you covered there too.<br/><br/>Over in the next shopping centre is Velvet's sit-down area; comfy tables and chairs to sit around and share your cake experience with a friend or loved one, placed around a very large table topped with their beautiful cakes in glass domes. Honestly, it was incredibly difficult to leave this spot.<br/><br/>Our experience for the day included a cupcake and sparkling wine pairing (a Coco Chanel chocolate cupcake topped with decadent chocolate icing and a Lindt ball, a chocolate cupcake topped with Velvet's own version of a Sweetie Pie, and a gloriously pink cuppie topped with rose water meringue icing), and a quiche and coffee pairing (chicken, pineapple and pepperdew, ham and mushroom, and butternut, spinach and feta, paired with Origin Coffee Roasters' Tanzanian, Indonesian and Bolivian coffee, respectively).<br/><br/>Jandri, the owner of Velvet Cake Co., has done something really spectacular and, in my opinion, very hard to achieve - she has created a place that delivers an incredible wow factor AND doesn't compromise on character and charm. I honestly cannot wait to go back and buy more of her wonderful treats.

This hidden gem of a place has hands down the best cupcakes I have ever had.. From bacon cupcakes to pink velvet with a rose water infused meringue top and cream cheese centre. You can be sure to find something that will tickle your tastebuds.. What makes it even better is that this little gem is 4 blocks away from my office.. Its a great place to pop in for a quick coffee and a cupcake or if you're keen for something more substantial you can pop over to Treat (just next door) for some amazing quiche and a good origin coffee - the best food spot I have found in Bellville so far.. I am definitely going to be visiting both places more than my wallet or my waist will be happy with during the week!!

This little spot blew my socks off. Honestly, if Saturday's were a type of food it would be champagne and cupcakes, and this is how we started off one of the best #ZomatoMeetups ever. <br/><br/>There were three cupcakes paired with Kleine Zalse champagne. Let's start with the Champagne, usually, not my drink of choice - but this has now changed and I will now have an even harder time ordering a drink off a menu for the rest of time. <br/><br/>The Velvet Cake Co treated us to three of their best cupcakes - the Coco Chanel (complete with Lindt balls and gold dust, I mean can you deal with that), the Sweetie Pie and the pink velvet with a rose water infused meringue topping and cream cheese centre. Needless to say choosing a favorite was nearly impossible, and if I had to I would pick the pink velvet because, I mean, did you not just read it's description? Unfortunately, they don't have any gluten free cupcakes, which would have made me really sad, if the icings of the other cupcakes hadn't been complete and utter perfection. <br/><br/>Second round of the Meetup took place at Treat, which is sort of like an off-shoot of Velvet, where we had an Origin Coffee and quiche pairing. We had a chicken, pineapple and peppadew, a ham and mushroom and then a butternut, spinach and feta. Each quiche was paired with a different coffee from Origin. The best pairing for me was the butternut, spinach and feta with the Bolivian coffee. <br/><br/>Honestly, I think Velvet Cake Co may have ruined all other cupcakes and cakes for me. If you are ever having a bad day, this place will cheer you up. The cupcakes and cakes are all made with so much care, it's like happiness all wrapped up. I will definitely be going back to try their cheesecake and hopefully, fingers crossed, a gluten free cupcake of deliciousness soon. I'm a sucker for a good chocolate cupcake, and at today's #ZomatoMeetup I had the best one in the entire universe. The Coco Chanel is a chocolatey gift from the gods - gooey, dense, and made with dark chocolate, so it isn't too sweet. It comes with a gold-dusted Lindt ball on the top and, as we learnt today, it pairs beautifully with the Kleine Zalze MCC Brut. This was my favourite combination, but believe me, the others were pretty darn fantastic as well. <br/><br/>Next up was the bakery's most popular treat, the Sweetie Pie Cupcake, paired with the Kleine Zalze Vintage Brut - a dry blend, which complemented the sweetness of the cake. My favourite part was biting into the topping: a crunchy chocolate case filled with soft marshmallow. Lastly, we ended off with a rosewater infused cupcake with cream cheese filling, which was as delicious as it sounds.<br/><br/>To settle the sugar rush, we moved onto a quiche and coffee pairing. We nibbled on a pineapple, chicken and pepperdew quiche, mushroom and truffle quiche, and lastly, a heavenly roasted butternut quiche. Each was paired with a different coffee blend from Origin Roastery, and my favourite was the final blend - a fruity Bolivian coffee. YUM. <br/><br/>Overall, Velvet is an absolute hidden gem, run by two passionate women who take pride in everything they create. The place was packed throughout the day, and I can understand why. I'll be back to try some of the other goodies on offer - the sprinkle cakes looked amazing!

Oh. My. Goodness!!! I only ate one cupcake from The Velvet Cake Co., but I cannot wait to try all the other varieties! Mine was a girly, pink, rose water infused, marshmallow-topped peice of heaven. And to my utter amazement, it only got better when I discovered the surprise cream cheese centre. Yum yum yum yum YUM!!

As far as cakes and cupcakes go this is definitely a 5/5! I can't recommend it enough.<br/><br/>Each cake is prepared so perfectly, you don't get the feeling that it is mass produced and of course they only use the best ingredients. I love that there is always variety on the day, as well as a special flavour of the month (ask at the counter for this). My favourite cake of the day was the coco chanel with a few lindt balls on top, classically delicious. <br/><br/>You HAVE to also try their quiches. Once again they have perfected this, they use phylo pastry which makes them light and crunchy, instead of dense and heavy...which means you can eat more ;) Their little secret is that they use cream with their mixture, making each quiche so beautifully rich and tasty.<br/><br/>I recommend buying a few different cupcakes and having your own little champagne pairing with your friends at home. It worked out very well for the zomato meetup!<br/><br/>

OMG it's like Strawberry Shortcake, My Little Pony, Thumbalina, Julia Child, all the 6 year old girls in the world and PMSing biatches got invited to Marie-Antoinette's champagne breakfast and died and went to marshmellow icing heaven! Charlies Bakery has to up their game. If you foolishly thought their cakes were Mucking a fazing these cupcakes are F*cking AMAZING and could start the French Revolution all over again from Bellville . A light bulb idea: a cupcake and champagne pairing followed by a fantastic coffee and quiche pairing... The African coffee was my favourite as well as the coco channel cupcake. Velvet Cake Company is THE destination for the most delicious cakes and cupcakes in Cape Town. Presentation is beautiful but the taste is just out of this world. My favourites are the red velvet cheesecake and the red velvet cake with meringue "frosting" - completely an experience worth trying!

If you ever want the best cake in the cape, you should try out the velvet cake co. I buy all my cakes from them, I have had all of there cakes that they offer and I keep going back! This place is a must if you have a sweet tooth.

Always a delight, perfect place for a worthwhile sweet treat. Your hopes will not be let down! One of my best places to have cake. All cakes are absolutely delicious, my favourite being their caramel cheesecake or red velvet chocolate cake. Their cakes are constantly beautifully prepared to the best they can be.

To be honest, as far as cakes (and any baked goods) are concerned, it doesn't get much better than this. I've written a review for Velvet before; however, my most recent experience here made me realise that my brief little paragraph of praise deserved some revision, and more delicious detail. <br/><br/>As indicated by my rating, it goes without saying that the baked delights here are just outrageously wonderful--so much so, that Zomato SA hosted their last #ZomatoMeetup here. The very fortunate Foodies that had been invited to attend (myself included) were spoiled with sweet and savoury treats alike. We broke the old-fashioned mould about leaving sweet things for last, and started with cupcake and MCC pairings (courtesy of Kleine Zalze). We began with the Coco Chanel cupcake, adorned with decadently rich chocolate icing, edible gold dusting and a creamy Lindt ball; then, we moved on to the Sweetie Pie cupcake--a moist chocolate sponge base topped with a fluffy marshmallow-filled chocolate shell, and, finally, we finished off with a cream cheese filled pink velvet cupcake topped with a rosewater-infused meringue icing swirl. The flavours were utterly magical, and all the angels in tastebud-heaven were singing Velvet's praises.<br/><br/>To balance out our sweetness overdose, we moved on to the classically crafted mini quiches, made according to the authentic, classic recipe using only traditional ingredients. Encased in delicate golden phyllo cups, the selection included a tangy pineapple, peppadew and chicken quiche (which had an incredibly rich, almost gourmet pizza-like flavour), an earthy ham, mushroom and truffle oil quiche (my personal favourite), and a spicy cinnamon, butternut and feta quiche (which tasted like Christmas in the South African countryside—to me, anyway). All of these were also beautifully paired with freshly roasted coffees provided by Origin Roasters.<br/><br/>As if that wasn't enough, Velvet generously provided us each with a gift voucher to be splashed out at their gorgeously vibrant little shop, filled with anything the cake-lover's heart could possibly desire, and more. I also thoroughly enjoyed my mini portable 'cake in a cup', which made for a very naughty but oh-so-nice breakfast the next day. From its humble beginnings, Velvet has been the apple of my eye as far as bakeries go, and, at this rate, any competition is laughable. Do your tastebuds a favour, and treat yourself with some Velvet-y goodness.

My sister got the naked rainbow cake last year for her birthday and it was the most delicious, heaven on earth cake we had ever tried.<br/><br/>Last week we got the pink velvet with white icing cake and red velvet cupcakes for my grans 80th, was just as delicious as I remembered it being last year if not even better.<br/><br/>I recommend velvet cake co to everyone and cant wait to try the sweetie pie cupcakes, which i have been dying to try for some time now :P <br/><br/>Velvet cake co put a lot of Cape Town bakeries to shame, and definitely vote them as number 1!

Lovely product but the employees always fight with each other.

I needed a cake at short notice and these guys made a plan for me. On top of that, the cake was AMAZING - the best carrot cake ever. It was huge and it took us days to get through it. Great value for money too.
