Been going to this restaurant since I was a toddler, food never disappoints! Company is great and the owners are always between the customers! Love each and every visit! Thank u for always making all occasions special! Highly recommended is the ribs and Mississippi mud pie. Kids area is fantastic and never have to worry for their safety like at many other restaurants these days.

I posted a bad review in January 2018 on this restaurant that I have rereviewed with a much more pleasant review in may 2019 after several amazing meals. However in January 2020 their service and food quality seems to be going down hill again, so I would some up that January is a bad month for this restaurant, perhaps it’s leave time for their head chef., in any case I would definitely encourage patrons to try this restaurant, unless it’s January they maybe give it a miss
We were pleasantly surprised with this restaurant. Granted it was not very busy as we were there after lunch and before supper on a Saturday afternoon. Service by Chief was excellent, kids had a blast in the Play area, with a very polite child minder. Steaks were great, prices very reasonable, kids meals were good value for money. Will definitely be back!
We are always on the look out for new restaurants in the area, and today we tried out Bennigans. The food was outstanding and brought back fond memories of the original restaurant in Bedford Centre. There was something for everyone and everyone finished their meals. Their gin menu is also awesome and we had a great time trying out some of their interesting combinations. The dessert was also out of this world - between us we shared, a Mississippi mud pie, kirsch cherries in ice cream, salted caramel brownie and ice cream and chocolate sauce. Yum! The kiddies menu was also good and their play area kept my little one busy. All in all - a good day! We will definitely be back!
The ribs are soft succulent and tasty.. The rump is almost as soft as fillet and comes with a a good amount of chips and the rump has a tasty BBQ basting. The cherries jebely is so nice but you have to ask for the chefs to make it, it comes with a golden rum sauce that is so nice you pour the mouth watering sauce over the vanilla ice cream and it then becomes heaven on a plate. This restaurant is awesome
A super gem! We came in as 6 and I called in advance and they said they would make place for us on short notice. we were seated at the back, table of 6. Service was amazing! Food was phenomenal. Told the gentleman at the door that it was the best ribs I have had in my life. Portion sizes also great. Definately will return. What an amazing evening. x

17.03.2018 After attending a function nearby we wanted something light-ish to eat and coffee. We had heard Bennigans was situated nearby so decided to give it a try. They have been around for many years and still going strong.
Although the surrounding area is not so great, the restaurant itself is beautiful and there a parking lot. (so no parallel parking skills required)
Clean and neat. Great decor. It is a little dark in certain areas but most steakhouses all seem to have that limited lighting issue.
They have a good selection of food and drinks and i feel they are reasonably priced.
We all ordered Cappuccinos - hot and tasted just right. As you know I'm a meat eater so we ordered the Baby back ribs to share and the Starter snails portion. The meat just fell off the bone. The fries were fried fresh as they stayed piping hot for a while. I think i needed a sauce for that to dunk them in as they were rather large.
Must mention our waiter Thabang was such a darling - great service from him with a smile.
Will definitely consider going back to try a few other options.

Best sized rock shandy I have ever had! My steak melted in my mouth - absolutely delicious! Creme Bruleè to die for! All in all a great lunch and great service!
After our last visit to Bennigans which we were disappointed we were offered a refund and told that the Prego roll has now been removed from the menu. We went back and we had a great experience. Food was excellent, service was excellent and a big thankyou to Dino for acknowledging my complaint on zamoto and making an effort to rectify the problem. We will definitely be back soon and a big thankyou to your chef who made an effort to come and talk to us.
Today was our first experience at this amazing restaurant. The service and food is great and the kids were so well looked after that the grown ups could enjoy their quality meals without any worries.
Great service and always amazing food! Followed this restaurant here from Bedford Centre where they used to be The Steakery. If you are looking to have a great piece of meat, come here! Fillet on the bone is just out of this world! But all other cuts are also really good! Don't forget to order onion rings for the table-a must!!! Crispy and perfect to go with your steak! For dessert - I recommend the eton mess or ice cream and chocolate sauce.

Bennigans has always been a Bedfordview staple, but this was my first visit to the new premises in Kensington. The parking area is safe with security on site but the area still feels a little down market for a restaurant of Bennigans stature. Inside however, the restaurant is well equipped and very spacious. Being a Tuesday evening, it was very quiet and given the size, it felt a little sparse and lacking in ambiance, however I’m sure it livens up over the weekends. We decided to forego the starters, and my daughter and I chose the fillet special, while my wife opted for the Atlantic sole. Bennigans earned its reputation through its steaks and they are still every bit as good as I remember. I ordered medium and it was perfectly prepared and the mushroom and asparagus sauce was superb. The only downside for me was that it was only 200g as I could easily have devoured double that. It is always a risk ordering fish at a steakhouse but my wife assured me that the sole was excellent. My daughter and I shared a Mississippi Mud Pie for dessert and although tasty, it wasn’t quite the way I remembered from the old Bennigans. The service was reasonably quick and efficient and the pricing, while not cheap, is certainly reasonable given the quality of the food. Overall, a satisfactory dining experience, even if I remain unconvinced on the new location.
Best steak restaurant in the East Rand! The kiddies area is awesome and very attentive child minders too. Well done Bennigans - our family will be back!!!

Great atmosphere and amazingly tasty food. The variety of meats, make it a good place to try something new. The option of making your meal allows you to choose everything that you eat on your plate, making sure nothing go to waste. Every plate was made with such precision.
My family and myself went for dinner at Bennigans last night. The fillet steak was succulent and tender. My nephew had an absolute blast in the play area - it is situated indoors which is perfect considering yesterday's weather conditions. Good service, good food and perfect for the family!

Just arrived at the fabulous new Bennigans, the setup is amazing. Friendly staff and managers. The kids entertainment section is just WOW. Only disappointing thing i would point out is the lack of kiddies menu. They literally only have 3 things that the waitron recites to you and that's it. I think if you are going to spend so much money to cater to families, it would be worth while also designing a menu that goes with it. Food arrived and was pretty good, 4/5 for ribs, 4/5 for steak 3/5 for fish (sole). Meat was cooked perfectly, their basting is scrumptious, ribs literally fell off the bone, nice creamy mash. I hope they do something about the lack of kids menu as we would love to be regulars but healthier options for kids would be a huge advantage.

Ever since they opened up again, we have been meaning to try our the new venue, and we finally had dinner there last night. They were fairly full, but despite that the service was good, but not in your face. To start, the nachos were fantastic, as was the halloumi. I had the pork belly which was perfect and the better half had the ribs which she said were really good too. We then got teas and coffees, and ended with the Eton Mess (basically a pavlova with crushed meringue) which was very sweet but a great end to the meal.
Really glad that they have opened up again, we will be back.

Without a doubt the BEST STEAKHOUSE IN JOBURG! We've been dining at Bennigan's for over 40 years and have never been disappointed. Their new venue is slick and modern yet still retains an old world charm that is warm and comforting. Their classic starters are as nostalgic as they are delicious, and the steaks and grills are sublime. Highly recommend the ribs, steaks and pork belly which melts in the mouth. For dessert try the Mississippi mud pie or the chocolate brownie drenched in salted caramel sauce, absolutely delicious! Service is always friendly and super efficient, this is one great restaurant that has truly stood the test of time!

We were invited by a family friend for dinner and I was really looking forward to coming to Bennigans for a while as I understand they are legendary with their steaks. Just didn't have the time to come through. The original restaurant was at Bedford Centre and they now moved to their new premises. The rich wood and awesome decorations are tastefully done giving it that high end feel. The service was very good. At first I was a bit concerned as the waitor seemed to have disappeared and forgot about us but as time went on he became more attentive. For starters there were chicken livers, snails and I got the timeless prawn cocktail (was big in the 90s). All enjoyed their starters and the prawns I had was really fresh and delicious. I ordered a sirloin steak with salt and pepper, medium rare and it arrived exactly like that.. cooked totally to perfection and the taste was heaven. So yes if you feel like a good steak and you want to take your partner on a date.. this is a great place.. it also accommodates families in that there is a play area for children on the side of the restaurant.. great food, great ambiance, good service.. well done
What a great dinner. The service was great, food came out really quickly and was really well cooked and tasted great. The environment is extremely inviting and managers and waiters are very friendly and helpful.

I have not been to this restaurant for years as I live in the northern suburbs of Jozi. There is not one steakhouse in the North that is as good as this steakhouse. Keep it up guys.
Great restaurant! Great food! We had the nachos to start, which was quite delicious, and I had the ribs for a main with a side of mash. The mash was very yummy and the basting on the ribs, and the actual tenderness of the ribs was delicious. My only critique would be that my second rack of ribs had a lot of sinue on, some ribs having more sinue than meat which was off putting.
Only recently discovered this gem in Johannesburg. Highly recommended for date nights and meet ups. I saw the mains and deserts, the passion and attention to detail is visible on every plate and proven in the flavours. Try the ribs. Thank you to Dino and his team for making us feel welcome.
We went back to Bennigans for the first time sice they relocated last year. The new venue has something special to the look and feel and they got it 100% right. The ribs was perfect and a definite must try. I would recommend you to try the new venue. Same old faces, great food sexy venue. Well done

We've been going to Bennigans since it was called The Steakery 25 years ago. Still run by the same family. We've been to the 'new' Bennigans in Kensington several times now. Some of the 'old' items from the original Bennigans have disappeared unfortunately but there are some of the old classics and new dishes too. The pork belly with Crackling is brilliant as with their ribs and lamb shank. Excellent service and managers are always around to ensure everything meets your satisfaction. Recently went there on Christmas eve with all 14 family members and new years day. Both times exceptionally enjoyable. (Don't forget to try their nachos and chicken livers to start with!) . Waiters Brian and of course the well renowned Felix 'the crocodile' always provide excellent service
Found this place by chance because we needed somewhere to go to lunch. Given its location you don't expect much from it but the experience amazing from the moment you enter the door. It's well themed, has ample seating in different areas and a menu with much variety. The burger (of course I had to try it) was pretty average but worth the money. Bennigan's is an institution, run by consumate restaurateurs now in a spacious and inviting new setting. Easily one of the region's best dining experiences, Bennigan's reputation for good service, excellent food and comfortable, inoffensive ambience remains intact. Money well spent.
Went there within a few weeks of opening and we all loved our food. Pork belly was sublime. Fillet heavenly. We returned a week ago with overseas guests with the hope of a good meal. Average would be enough of a description. One of the guests was excited to see the burger bun detailed as a brioche. We asked the waiter if it was really brioche. Answer a definite yes. It wasn't. Not even an attempt at a brioche. Calamari was very chewy. Service was good but not as attentive as we expected after our first visit. Sad because we thought we had found a place for us and our regular overseas guests to enjoy.
There's nothing as good as great steak made right! I heard about this place and decided to check it out. I had a sirloin drakensberg which was absolutely divine!!! It was juicy and tender just like I like it. My friend had a dijon filet which he couldn't stop raving about.The service was impeccable and I really loved the masculine/gentleman's lounge vibe the place was putting out. It had a warm and relaxing feel which made us enjoy our meal even more. I'd definitely return!
So Bennigans recently opened up here around the corner from us in Bedfordview. Being as curious as we are, my partner and I searched for something new on Zomato and they popped up. When we went for dinner, I had mozzarella sticks which were very flavourful. For main, I had baby back ribs which was mouth watering. I really recommend it. The service was 100 out of 100.

We tried Bennigan's while it was finishing up at Bedford Centre. What a pity we tried it so late. They had great meaty options and their vegetarian options are just as great - especially the butternut ravioli. Overall, we had a lovely evening.
I went to Bennigans as very small child and with romantic memories returned tonight with my partner. It was absolutely lovely. Really relaxing, welcoming atmosphere with some lovely food. My rare fillet was absolutely perfect (and could maybe rival my dad's fillet) Victor our waiter was a charm. Lovely night out I highly recommend it for a bit of a slash out....

I was a regular at their Bedfordview branch and I must say I was disappointed in the new version. Firstly, the place does look nice; more modern and open. I read someone's review stating that it's now just another steakhouse and I must agree. I feel they have lost their authenticity. Many of the old favorites were removed from the menu. Sure, their steaks are great but what makes them stand out? I always had the fajitas but at this new spot, the tortillas were so small and cardboardy, not the fluffy ones I had come to love. So yeah, I was disappointed. Still good flavor though. The service also wasn't great, slow to remove the dishes and the one steak they got horribly wrong.

The old Bennigans is back in town. The menu is refined, but the old favourites are still there. Their chicken livers are still the best in town. Their steaks are still excellent. The new location has a play area and safe parking.
All said and done, great steak and good freindly service. Nice atmosphere. I would recommend this restaurant. The pricing is also fair for the quality of the food #anywaythanks

My brothers and I decided to make the trip to Bennigans on a Friday night. We found the place easy enough and lucky we had booked as they were full.
We were given a tour through the newly decorated restaurant and it has been done very well!
We sat down and ordered starters of deep fried mozzarella and nachos, which were delicious!
The manager recommended the perfect bottle of wine to go with our ribs, fillet on the bone and sirloin steak.
All were cooked to perfection and delicious!
We ended off the night with the decadent chocolate brownie, key lime pie and a Mississippi mud pie. All were super yummy!
I would highly recommend this place, everything from the service to the food made it a great night out!

Had our anniversary dinner there. Great service food is excellent. Our waiter was new and very carefull to make sure he got all correct .The managers are very attentive .highly recommended and improved in new location. Still a few teething problems but improving.

I must be honest and say that it was not the experience that I expected. I was hoping that the "old" Bennigans was re opening and not a steakhouse. The ribs were good but the menu offers nothing out of the usual. We sat near the kiddies play area. Very noisy and quite disturbing while trying to have a conversation. Maybe not for me?
I have always held this restaurant is many of my childhood memories and through all their changes, it remains amazing!
We all had the ribs with cream spinach and butternut (their all time special and best dish) and needless to say, it was outstanding!

Like many others we were extremely disappointed when Bennigans closed down at Bedford Centre. BUT when we saw them opening within walking distance of home in Kensington we were overjoyed! Supper tonight did not disappoint. Booking a table was efficient with sms confirmation. Welcome was warm, our waiter excellent, a fine wine from an extensive winelist and the cuisine superb. The new setting and decor is warm but stylish.
Bennigans does not disappoint in their new home. The decor is modern and updated but still very warm and inviting. The menu boasts some of their old classics for which they are famous such as their amazing steaks, ribs and chicken fajitas but have a few new items such a salmon tartare, pork belly and salted caramel brownies! The wine menu offers something for everyone. The service was friendly and efficient. Today I had the nachos to start, an amazing Dijon fillet steak that was on special and the key lime pie for dessert. Other members of our party had the salmon tartare, the cheese burger, ribs, creme brûlée and Mississippi mud pie - everything was delicious!!
I am so glad that they have reopened their doors, I will definitely be back!

Wow , all I can say is Wow . We were devastated when they closed down in Bedford Centre , we thought they were gone forever ! So when the skinner started in Kensington 3 months back about a possible take over of a rubbish restaurant, I couldn't keep still with excitement !
I had the pleasure of winning a R500 meal for two and a 43 year old bottle of red wine though Bennigans FB page about 3 weeks ago , and took my other half for dinner there on the 30th of July . We were welcomed by an exited and knowledgeable Dino who took us to our table which was nice and cozy in the corner and faffed all over us the whole night that it made me feel like a VIP .
I went for the super soft , super melt in your mouth , outrageously delicious Pork Belly with nom nom nommy creamy mash , oh man what a win ! BF had the 300g 'no knife needed' fillet with nom nom nommy mash and a side of Mushroom sauce , he was quiet the entire meal (which is a good thing , means he is in heaven )
We finished the meal with the dessert Dino recommend which was the Salted Caramel chocolate brownie , words actually fail me in describing how divine it was .
We are planning to come back at least once a month (it being 1km from my house) and bring lots and lots of friends with !!!

Very nice restaurant serving a variety of dishes and specializing in spare ribs. It would be better if they had beef ribs, they only do pork. I enjoyed a rump steak with 4 prawns. The service was great. The bathroom was very clean.
What an absolute pleasure to dine here at Bennigan's Bedfordview. The food was delicious, I had the Bacon Avo Burger and it was a delight. My fellow diners also raved about their meals. The outside area is beautiful, the gardens are a balm to the eyes. Our server Alex was wonderfully efficient without being intrusive and patiently catered to our jumbled cravings.
I can highly recommend a visit to this restaurant and have no doubt that you will have a good time.
Bennigan’s Bedfordview gets it right, every time. We have been there on different occasions, we’ve ordered in and we’ve recommended our guest house guests and not once have we been disappointed.
Giovanni & Vanessa and all their staff do a phenomenal job. The food is outstanding and the service, equally so.

The place was pretty great. The pizza was excellent but the nachos servings were a bit small. The inside looked and felt much nicer than the exterior.
From starters(mozzarella sticks) to desert, everything was really good. The ribs were very well prepared with great chips to round it off. My waffle and ice cream for desert, as well as a very nice cappuccino was very nice to round off a good evening out.
Such an amazing restaurant. Food is always excellent quality! Staff are always friendly, polite and tentative. We visit this restaurant at least once a week and it always delights!
What a brilliant place for an end of year/function/ lunch. The menu is wonderful and between us we has a steak/chicken cordon bleu and a burger. The beers where icy, the food fantastic and the service was top class. Will Def be back again.
Celebrated a 70th birthday, and they staff were absolutely awesome, friendly, helpful and on the ball. The table was laid to perfection, and the whole experience was fantastic. FOOD OF THE HIGHEST QUALITY !!! We had a friends Christmas dinner and ordered 11 pizzas from Bennigans Bedfordview, They arrived hot, juicy and the flavours were absolute world class !! If you enjoy good food Bennigans is the place to go - Pizza , Ribs, Steaks, Burgers , you just can't go wrong !
A local legend that has moved around but never died. Ribs, burgers (chicken or beef), steaks, pizzas, pasta and even some seafood. The menu is a grill house classic like Bennigan's itself. The food is good, I vouch for the chicken burger every time. Always a decent option for a family dinner.
