This place offers excellent food at premium prices. My friend and I went their for lunch. Positives: 1. The chicken was delicious and well-seasoned. 2. The prawns pasta was so indulgent and creamy. Prawns were slightly sweet and good quality. 3. The starter chicken giblets was really tasty and the portion was fair. Negatives: Not really much to complain about. I'll definitely go back and try other options.

The restaurant is topnotch, located at the best location and it's very classy, its probably 10 times better than the one in Sandton. Truly classy and nice atmosphere. Food was great, but I found the chicken a bit dry, that was a huge disappointment for me because I love their chicken, prawns were the best, no reservations there. Rice was the best but very small compared to Sandton. And my boy loved your ribs, no reservations there. I was a bit disappointed with the service, the waiter was a bit slow but she was very nice, she even gave us a card with contact details so that we can book next time because it get really full. We appreciated that. And the company only hires foreigners, this can be a big draw back for me. Atmosphere was really awesome, it was not full and we chose a nice table. My take overall? It's a great restaurant and I think you should visit it. It's kids friendly, tables are not cramped next to each other, you are able to move around. If you love prawns and rice, you should definitely visit, they have a Monday special of 20 prawn for about R250. If you found this review helpful, please like my review and follow me.

Had a wonderful time here... The place has a sense of class about it, from the decor to the service. The staff was so welcoming(even the ones that weren't serving us). It's super clean and so beautiful. The food we had was deliciously prepared and we didn't even have to wait long for it. I enjoyed my experience, I recommend it for dates or just take your family there... It would be great for intimate gatherings...

Excellent food! We had calamari for starters and it was cooked perfectly. For mains we had prawns. It was nice to have both rice & chips with mains. The mains were excellent, full of flavour and a massive portion. It was so good we ate it all! Our waitress was so friendly, helpful and always made sure our drinks were full. We will definitely be back!

Their VIP Lounge is perfect for quick business meetings with clients or colleagues. Food, service and the atmosphere are excellent. Definitely a place to visit again.

The private room we sat in was really nice and beautifully decorated with aircon which was a must on a 33° day Overall we were satisfied and treated like gold by Frank! We started off with drinks,the one thing I didn't agree with was a guest asked for a bottle of water and they brought 4 (1litre) bottles for the table (us, assuming this was complimentary) I guess nothing is free nowadays... Unfortunately the food let us down a bit as it's overpriced for what you get, everything is between R150 to R250 per plate and we all left hungry which is not nice after you've spent so much on a lunch.

Myself and my fiancé went for the Sunday buffet, it just so happened the rugby was also shown here on a very big screen. The food was nothing short of amazing, the buffet was always filled and quality did not disappoint not once. We paid R350 it starts from the morning till 4pm so go very hungry. The service was a little slow but only because it was fully booked and extremely busy. The staff work so hard and management was so amazing to welcome us in.

You get greeted a nice staff at the door,she recommended the warmest spot for us,we didn't even wait the waiter was next to the lady sitting us to get our drinks order,if you're a tea lover they don't have much variety.Wnt for a platter and my Friend got curry the food was so delicious I was definitely pleased by the meal.Started of quiet but people kept on piling in,It's definitely a must visit 🥰

I had overseas visitors on the 28th May and booked dinner at Adega Bedfordview. It was an amazing experience from service to the food quality. I have to commend all that contributed to their satisfaction and the good impression left in them. A special mention for the great coffee. Well done and keep the high levels.

Was one of the worst meals I have had! Our prawns and garlic bread was burned. Our kids fish fingers was regular I&J from supermarket, completely over done. Tasted terrible. Sat outside it's so dark you can't see your food. Don't go there

The waiter came 3 times to take the same order for our drinks and when he eventually brought the drinks after waiting for about 20mins we notice that he brought the wrong wine. I ordered seafood pasta, but thrle penne was overcooked.

What an amazing experience. Food was absolutely delicious and the service received from our waiter was excellent.

The last time I take my family out to eat at Adega Bedfordview or recommend the restaurant. We did not receive bread for the table, like usually, and the waiters took forever to serve our table. My family received our "special 1kg prawn special " turned out to be 250g's compared to all the other people orders. Took 20mins to bring the drink order. To top off, the prawns were cooked well!! Very disappointed! �

Please do not order from Adega Bedfordview what shit Service<br/><br/>I ordered a Chourico Pasta on Uber Eats under their Main Pasta Course Section.<br/>I just received a whole entire Chourico Sausage. <br/>I called the shop so that we can rectify this mistake.The Manager gives the phone to the owner and he starts throwing his weight around and start speaking to me like I am fucken child. <br/>No one apologised did not listen to my explanation nothing. <br/><br/>I will troll their shitty attitude and let the whole of bedfordview know. That they can not even get a simple order right!<br/><br/>Look at the attached photos and tell me if I ordered vegetarian under the pasta section would I have just received Vegetables!!!!<br/>

Booked for the sushi buffet. Place was really busy.. New plates of sushi were added every 5 min. Great atmosphere and lovely host and service... Highly recommended.

Lovely atmosphere as always and manager excellent. Ordered grilled sole and enjoyed my meal. Red wine however served way above room temperature. We had to get ice bucket to chill the wine a bit. Service bit slower than usual.

Wow I am a sushi lover and this is hands down the best sushi I have ever had. I really enjoy there new special on the sushi. Not pricey at all. Will be back !!

Friendly Atmosphere. Good service. Good food The chicken is exceptionally tasty, the chicken is juicy not dry at all. You could tastee the mushrooms in the mushroom sauce , at any other place its just cream. The portion size is more than generous. The service is friendly and efficient.

Firstly the parking situation is an issue especially if you going to the restaurant at night. Parking is across the road. The entrance is not very clear. Adega restaurant have a certain standard which was almost met. Maybe I went after 6pm on a Sunday therefore the grilled chicken was not what I usually receive from Adega in Woodmead. Either way the food was acceptable.

Vibe was good alot of seating options and nice old school music playing softly in the background. Kiddies play area and rides and seating accommodates large groups<br/><br/>Loved their seafood pasta very creamy and tasty however the chicken was to salty for and the combo platter was okay just no sauce or spices on the table so the chips were bland<br/><br/>For the price it didnt meet my expectations<br/><br/>I love mojitos but didnt enioy theirs a bit too sweet and we asked for no ice and they didnt listen<br/><br/>The 10% tip is already calculated and workes imto the bill, we didnt see that so we gave a tip on top of that and the waiter didnt say anything but I guess we should have read the bill

Had a lovely meal here last night. Service was great as our waiter was attentive and friendly. The food was delicious too! I had the prawns nacional and it has definitely become my new favorite dish👍🏻 the prawns were cooked just right and the sauce was delictable

I have to give this restaurant 4 stars, the ambience, service and food was excellent. Their platter selections are really great ways to get the entire family envolved. An amazing kids friendly spot.<br/>A con for me was the parking, their parking is located opposite the restaurant and i am not an easy going road crosser.

This is a hidden gem. Nice atmosphere with large kiddies play area outdoors and plenty parking.<br/>Sunday they have a buffet which has a great selection of meats, pastas and shellfish.<br/>Very well priced.<br/>I ordered the chicken which was succulent and very tasty, the prawn pasta was superb as was the kingkljp.<br/>All in a great meal<br/>

Terrible experience. We booked for a table of six and were seated comfortably only to be asked to be moved inside. Once we were seated (at a much larger table), we began eating average food only to be requested to be moved yet again because not everyone in our party arrived. We grudgingly obliged. The lights randomly went off and on during the meal as well. When my mother asked to redeem her Facebook voucher for her birthday (the same day) before even attempting to assist, the manager Assif immediately requested the print out. Overpriced for average food and a frustrating experience - would not recommend to anyone.

Saturday night. Ordered a avo and haloumi salad and a plate of chips as my main. Haloumi was cold and like rubber and hardly any avo. Not worth R90. My husband ordered chicken extra hot, they just poured the sauce over the chicken without grilling it. Bad experience. It use to be the best chicken in town now I’d say it’s the worst. The prawns ate always floury .

Best prawns in Johannesburg. Recommend the lobster, 1kg king prawns, the Portuguese rump steak with round chips and the grilled sardines. Extensive wine list with both local and international wines. Maria Saudade vinho Verde excellent with prawns. Friendly and attentive staff. Good secure parking.

If only the "owner" hadn't left his lunch to come and interfere with an Entertainer voucher which had already been redeemed. Then things would have been fine. Instead, he chose to invent a term and condition that we had to make a booking in order to use the Entertainer. This is patently false - he is confusing the Entertainer with another rewards programme (though he wouldn't say which one)...

Their owner clearly has no respect for customers -- shouting at them and making them pay when they used an Entertainer voucher. I'm with Entertainer, but thank goodness I never asked to use my voucher as it appears the owner isn't willing to keep to the 2-for-1 promise.

Their buffet can be summed up in one word: disgusting! On top of that, they charge R10 for tap water. I'm pretty sure that's illegal for an alcohol-serving establishment. But se la vie.

Had a wonderful lunch at Adega Bedfordview yesterday. Service was excellent, food was fast and very tasty. Ordered the 10 queen prawn special for R99 and it was superb. Nice atmosphere and place to be in! Will be back for sure.

Very dissatisfying. On arrival the restaurant has a great ambience that is very welcoming for families. There is a terrific play area and a very friendly child minder. The problem occurred when the food reached our table. Firstly, we ordered the buffet at R199 a person. There was a great variety of food to choose from. Once we had dished up we realized the Ribs were roar, the pasta was sour and the bread was stale. Giving it another chance, we ordered the Queen prawn combo. The prawns were dirty! They had not been cleaned at all, the prawns insides were still visible 💩 In addition, we ordered a kiddies fish fingers and chips. The fish fingers were grey, smelt off and tasted terrible. To end the entire experience off, on the bill we were charged R10 for a glass of tap water.

Best prawns and chicken at Adega Bedfordview.<br/>Marlon best waiter, even set up hubbly for us. Fantastic value for money 10 queen prawns for R99 where else can you get value like that! Dessert was a amazing tiramisu that was one of the desserts of the day, the other option was iced nougat and berry terrine.

I was really excited to visit Adega and to have some good Portuguese food; alas those were just dreams. The food was mediocre and the service was quite atrocious. The food I had ordered was bland. I had brushed that aside as I was looking to use a voucher. At first the vouchers were no longer accepted but according to my app are still valid. Then it became a game of hunting and searching for the fine print. The whole experience became a blame game where no one knew what was going on and the blame went in circles from the top down and up again and then to the customer. All the while the customer was not right or King as the sayings go. Just an immensely disappointing experience.

This is the best Restaurant in the whole  of  Bedfordview. Staff are polite and the food is out of this world. I rate this the best dining experience i have ever had.

Adega used to be a great restaurant however tonight was the worst service I have experienced. Over and above the multiple errors and below par food, when complaining to the managers they simply said they understood and proceeded to blame it on the waiter. The problem is poor management!!!!

If you're lucky enough to enjoy Adega's buffets then you will be in for a wonderful treat! The buffet includes prawns that are well sized, very flavorful and are a crowd pleaser. The salads are different and fresh and if you opt for something from the menu try the prawn pasta. There's a generous amount of prawns in a flavorful creamy sauce and will definitely satisfy those hunger pangs! The service is good and the ambience is great. An excellent place that has something for everyone.

Delightful evening with my cousins at Adega Bedfordview. We were lucky to get a booking as the restaurant was full but the manager squeezed us in. The food was awesome. Great flavour. Worth the price. Our waitress was very attentive and efficient although the restaurant was busy. Great service.

The restaurant has a wonderful play area but beware crossing the street as cars drive do fast past the restaurant you almost get ridden over. The food is average the prawns are very average, the calamari is tasty and the steak is ok. The service is also average what concerned me was the Large rat running on the awning.

I have always heard about Adega but i never got the chance to go and try it. So I finally got the chance to go and it was ok, in my opinion it wasn't anything great, the food was ok and so was the service but everything was very average. So overall it was an average experience.

Situated a bit awkwardly with the parking lot across the street and isn't that visible, I wouldn't blame you if you got lost. <br/><br/>The bad news ends there though; you are greeted by professional and friendly staff who know the menu (including specials) off hand. The food is of such a high quality, portion size and taste it's unreal. Fantastic in every way (considering the specials) expect for the wait (the food could arrive a little quicker). <br/><br/>The oyster special (R59 for 10) and the seafood platter for one special (ask for the Panga fish) are must tries. A pleasant lunch experience at Adega Bedfordview,i did not expect any specials but alot of food specials were offered. Despite being a table of approximately 15, the service was pretty decent, I tried the half chicken including a beer for R85 which was well worth the price. A filling meal of great taste and value. I will consider visiting again.

My family loves Adega but this specific branch did not live up to everyones expectations. The service was decent, a bit slow; we had to ask our waitress to come and clear the table a few times. Their menu is extensive, just like the other branches. They have a nice wine list and a ridiculous wine special - R213 bottle selling for R199. They don't have much vegetarian food. <br/><br/>For starters at the table we had prawn rissoles and calamari. The prawn rissoles were smaller than other Adegas; the calamari was a little over cooked. We also tried an avo maki which was nice. For mains, we ordered LM chicken, prawns and chips in a Bain Marie. Initially we asked for a lot of sauce but it came with a measly amount and we had to order two more bowls. In the end, everyone loved the chicken and prawns. Also had the baked giant mushroom - too salty and too watery. <br/><br/>So overall, the sushi, LM chicken and prawns were hits. The mushroom dish was actually inedible. They also tried to skimp on the sauce, coupled with the inattentive service it was a disappointment from a service end. <br/>

Food is very good. Location is horrible. Seating is very uncomfortable . There's absolutely no space to move about , chairs are really small and service was too terrible . This place is nothing to brag about.

Great place to eat; really such a pity the chairs you have to spend 3 hours on are cheap 1950's knock offs that does more damage and cause more back pain than anything else!!

This was our 2nd visit to Adega Bedfordview for their Sunday lunch buffet. The variety of the buffet is fantastic and the quality of food is very good. The starter dishes on the buffet were particularly delicious and the prawns are very tasty as well. <br/><br/>We'll definitely be back again! <br/><br/>

Very rude manager. Bought Groupon tickets. They were very strict with so called fine print. Not practical for two people to finish 1 full chicken and 1kg prawns also not good busines to refuse more people with one voucher as if there are more people they will buy more drinks and desserts. Won't be going back not because of food but because of their attitude towards customers.

What a wonderful evening with my baby Christine Sing. Our waiter Petrus was so attentive and the Valentines atmosphere was amazing with balloons and a live band. Such a wonderful experience!

Ok! That's about as good as it gets! I was unimpressed by the food and actually felt quite ill after. Everything seemed drenched in sauce even though I didn't order any sauce. That seems to come standard with all dishes. Ordered a salad instead of chips landed up getting both. Sadly I will never be back

Had a nice birthday dinner at Adega Bedfordview with my partner. I had the Prawns which were divine, some of the best Prawns I have tasted in a long time, and they tasted especially nice when dipped into my favourite Lemon Butter sauce. My Boyfriend had the Calamari and he said it was perfect, it wasn't over cooked and had a great taste. We both had the sally williams Nougat dessert and it was amazing!! It is definitely a must try. The service throughout the time we were there was great, they really made an effort to make everything perfect for my birthday, our waiter was friendly, very accommodating and quick with our drinks and food. We will definitely be back in the future!!

Nice Saturday buffet with Portuguese food... Starters were nice and mains excellent... Noisy and crowded but service was attentive and efficient... If you don't mind queuing for the food (very hectic) it is definitely a best buy...

Had lunch with 2 mates. Chicken had blood at joints, was uncooked. The sole was still raw and cold. Complained to manager, who took away food and then disappeared without any feedback. Horrible eating experience. If you don't want patrons, just put a sign outside saying "Keep Out"<br/><br/>

Payed R240pp for a Christmas buffet of which I alone got got 4 prawns , half a piece of gammon and a tablespoon of rubber calamari . Disgusting food , disgusting management and pigs for customers from the first half of the seatings which refused to leave so the 3pm seating could get in and carried on eating our food like it was theirs . Most disappointing food ever .. Had to wait 45 min for cold fish and oily chips. Definitely the last time we'll be going there. Well at least the beers were slightly warmer than the calamari

Always pleasant here... whether for formal dining inside or "casual" snack outside on the dect, my favourite on the side under the thick grape vines with mist fans on a hot summer say. Portuguese commit community guys playing their cards and having espressos... you can believe you are in Algarve. <br/>So this is a beautiful venue. <br/>And the food matches. Extensive menu, very originally done in magazine format. The traditional food is good. Nothing more said. No need to. But as a sushi fan, often go there for that as a afternoon snack. And it is fresh, tasty and well portioned. With a kiddies section (nicely places on the one side) this is an all round versatile establishment.

This Portuguese franchise restaurant, serves you the traditional Portuguese food and the non traditional food.  Extensive menu and even Sushi features. The food overall is good and the service too. When they have their Sunday buffet the area can get a bit cramp.

We've visited Adega a few times for their buffet Sundays. Unlimited food covering all three courses. The delicious and their service is food. It's especially good to sit out on the deck when the weather is pleasant.

The Adega in Bedfordview is seemingly warm welcoming place that will take a reservation and promptly forget about it placing you in the worst table possible I.e adjacent to the prawn /seafood section on their Friday night buffet. <br/><br/>Our waiter Asif started off exceptionally well when it was very busy but as the restaurant quietened he became inattentive and forgetful on many occasions. <br/><br/>The food was good although they need to understand that, tempura is a light Japanese batter with raw vegetables, the deep fried. Not heavy batter with mushy steamed veg as was served to us. <br/>The vegetarian sushi was fresh and tasty , whilst the trinchado looked anaemic. <br/>The ribs at our table arrived cold <br/><br/>The restaurant was busy but the staff /management was more intent and focused on serving the hordes of buffet diners than those ordering of the a la carte menu. Call me fussy but soy sauce and dipping bowl should arrive with the sushi and not 10 min later. Further more I shouldn't be pouring my own and of our tables wine.

Food was excellent had the prawns special 13 super king and a stuff calamari as starter. Overall very good and tasty food. Prawns was do to perfection.

We landed up going to Adega as Rocomammas Bedfordview had a 30min waiting time for a table. I've heard good things from friends about this restaurant and for the most part I found them to be true. Service was great, food was excellent, and the vibe was light and festive. I would recommend the Prawn Nacional as a main.

Adega is a great treat on a Friday evening especially after a long week<br/>and when you are hungry! I normally do the seafood buffet. They have a fairly large<br/>wine selection and the wine lover is spoilt for choice. There’s always a crowd<br/>and a better option than the Spur for the folks out there with children.

Absolutely not Portuguese livers or giblets or chips. Not good Value at their ridiculous prices. And then there's the million flies attacking you and your food. No thank you.  I remember Adega do Monge well and this food does not come a patch to what we used to get in Kensington. Won't go back  I recently went to Alberton and they were much better and seemed more portuguese but I'm not taking chances with Adega again - just too embarrassing.

This Adega is a typical Adega franchise without that personal touch... It reminds me of one of those conveyor belt scenario where you should eat and ship out for the next client. <br/>Please had her birthday party and I must admit that they handled the party quiet well, but I literally had to call the restaurant so that they can send me a waiter - yes it was that sad. I like the fact that they have traditional Portuguese food specials but the sad thing is how on earth can you have sushi in a Portuguese restaurant... what is Portuguese about Sushi.. If you want introduce sushi into the menu and it's a Portuguese Restaurant than Portugueseify it..like use traditional cod fish as sashimi. But on a good side their prawns are amazing. Their steaks are OK. Service cap and the worst is when you go the receptionist gives you that false goodbye smile.... anyhow if you want to do a function with good food.. This is a place.. just make sure you get the waiter or waitress is there for you and doesn't dissappear. <br/>

Decor is clean and fresh.<br/>Service is slow,<br/>Atmosphere is festive and loud.<br/>Food is not great, tried them out 4 times and each time there was something wrong, food not good or service shocking.<br/>I have friends that love Adega so maybe it's just me.

We dropped by one Friday evening with friends, and were very pleasantly surprised. Great ambience, excellent decoration and an outstanding menu. This restaurant has become much more of an upmarket establishment. Broad wine and whiskey menu. Within an hour the restaurant appeared fully booked inside. We opted for the evening buffet, which in my opinion, was probably the best buffet I have come across. Available were 4 different prawn dishes, crab curry, sushi, calamari, clams, ribs, seafood Paella, salads, and desserts. The service was perfect and we had a ball - will be back soon!

Amazing food and great service when ever we go there. for the price the quantity and quality is great.

Music is so loud we have to shout to here each other speak. Schocking atmosphere. Hope the food is better bit its taken quite long to get to us

Hi, <br/><br/>Food was terrible. - Tempura Prawns were in normal batter, the mussel starter was tiny. Hake and chips - Hake was not cooked! Now my husband is at home with Food poisoning and getting sick. Spoke to the manager and he did not give a damn. Very disappointed it used to be our favourite fish restaurant!

Their setting has a comfortable vibe. Waitress greeted us when we arrived and took our drinks order, drinks arrived, the non alcoholic cocktails were too sweet for my taste. I ordered a sparking water to dilute it. We ordered our starters and mains together. Clams, tempura platter, hellumi cheese, and a snails. We all thought it's average. Our mains took really long to arrive. Seafood platter, langostines were small, mussels were tiny!! Grilled sole with veg and chips, the creamed spinach tasted strange, I did not enjoy it at all, the sole wasn't that fresh, but the chips was fantastic!! Chicken espetada was dry. The waitress then told us to enjoy our meals, but they forgot my friend's sushi platter, (their explanation was that another waiter took her order) but there was no utensils set up for the sushi. The waitress did not once have a smile on her face. We did not enjoy the food nor the service. We were originally going to order dessert but after the disappointing food, we did not have the mood for dessert. We asked for the bill and when we checked it, 10% tips was added on the bill already, nevermind that because we never give less than 10% service fees no matter how poor service is, however at the bottom of this bill, it mentioned that tips is not automatically added, and there was space for "more tips" and totally!! We were not happy about that, if we had not checked the bill carefully, we would've paid double the tips! Terrible. Do not think we will come back again. First time and last time.

Great service with easy-to-reach waiters, and excellent cooking by the chef, as even though the prawns weren't 100%, the marinating was spot-on.

We went to Adega for a family dinner and we were definitely not disappointed! Adega was divine! I had the prawn special (1kg prawns for R139.00). An absolute bargain & every prawn was super tasty. My boyfriend has the 500g steak & prawn special (R99.00). The specials are excellent & unlike other places, there was quality & quantity with the food we ordered. Adega Bedfordview is fabulous, and we will definitely be back! Thanks to the team there for the excellent experience!

Disgusting food; shocking lack of service! Waited over two hours for food that was mostly yuck with only the couple that ordered sushi happy with the taste of their order: pizzas had no tomato base, herbs or seasoning so were basically just crust, dry topping and some cheese; steaks were grey blobs of overlooked meat. <br/><br/>Four couples and six children under 5 - the parents ordered on the kids behalf while the latter spent almost the entire time playing. Two of the couples were there for the first time: us and a couple who had won an Adega competition for free 'pizza'.<br/><br/>After taking and delivering the initial drinks and the kids' edible food orders, at which time she took the adults' order, our waitress literally disappeared for two hours. We had to approach management ourselves to find out what had happened to the food, while our waitress apparently sat in the kitchen waiting for our food (her explanation for her absence).<br/><br/>Our final bill was blatant proof. Three hours, a warm afternoon outside, 14 pax including children yet, only one round of drinks and one course of food was ordered. We didn't even get an opportunity to order wine with our food and we certainly were not in any mood to order coffee and dessert of a dreadful afternoon.<br/><br/>I suggest rather that as our waitress already knew that she was getting her 'automatic over 10 pax tip', she took a well-earned two-hour break...<br/><br/>Well, we don't care that Adega Bedfordview is one of the few restaurants that caters for kids, with their menu and play area, my husband and I intend to take a permanent break from It. That was our first and last visit!

Nice for a bit of fun in a large group. Food is ok, but not the greatest,just make sure you're in vibey crowd.
