Review Happily Ever Laughter - Bedfordview

Cassy Cave
The kids play area is big and includes a crafts centre where kids can paint their own ornament. It is slightly more expensive than other venues like it, but the menu has a good selection and the food is really tasty with good portions. The private section is a bit small, but they put in a lot of effort to make it special. The staff are efficient and friendly, and overall every visit has been a good one.

An AMAZING venue, such a special find and definitely a family experience! The managers are attentive and have impeccable customer service. We were hosted to our every whim and delight, the food is outstanding but more than anything it is a place kids can really have a grand old time! Birthdays are special so make sure you enquire about the extensive network of service providers to really give your occassion a special memory. When at Happily Ever Laughter, even if it is just for a quick meeting; try their menu - I recommend their steak & chicken dishes, simply delicious.

Fabulous afternoon. Food platters were top class, everything tasty and delicious. Service and attention to detail excellent Thank you Happily Ever After

This place is a great venue for kids or events with about 40 people. If it rains then its a bit cramped to be inside. The service is great and the staff are friendly. There is secure parking and the place seems to be booking based, not a public restaurant
Nikki Moutsatsos
Pretty little venue for a baby or bridal shower. Management and staff attentive and friendly.
Roberto Cossich
Great for kids, great for brunch, great for coffee.
Betsie Swart
Lovely interior. Great place for kids. Enjoyed the chicken salad.

AWESOME PLACE! - We recently celebrated my daughter’s birthday party at Happily Ever Laughter and I was so impressed and pleased with the great service, food, friendly staff, awesome vibe and super kids playground! I definitely recommend this venue to anyone looking to have an event! Tracy (owner) was so helpful, always willing and organised when it came to the party planning. I can’t wait to celebrate more birthdays at Happily Ever Laughter! THANK YOU!

Had a lovely lunch today. All the staff were very friendly and the meal was delicious. Magic Mike the waiter gave us excellent service and Brian was very helpful in assisting us to park. The manageress was most gracious in accommodating our dogs! Thank you , appreciate it!

Happily Ever Laughter is a wonderful restaurant, and is especially geared for children. It has a fantastic play area for little children. The staff are so friendly, and really go out of their way to make you feel like family The owner Gabi is a very friendly lady, and has really gone the extra mile to make visitors feel at home. The food is very tasty, and is beautifully presented. We go there often.

Lovely staff, venue, and food. What more can you say 😁

My bestie and I came here with our kids. It was a lovely place for young children. All the kids around the restaurant were having fun :) There is a ton of things to do for babies and young children. The food is quite nice too and reasonably priced. The only concern I have is the tables are quite near one another, and given that Covid is still a reality, it would be nice if there was a little more social distancing especially on busy days like weekends etc.
Simanga Gwangwa
Lovely, intimate family venue. Great location, great food, great staff, great playground! My daughter had the best birthday party there, and Covid regulations were adhered to. The kind of place you go back to with your eventual grandkids. Love Happily Ever Laughter!

Had my daughter's 1st birthday party there yesterday and was highly disappointed and embarrassed that on my arrival at the venue the staff were still setting up, the outside chairs were been cleaned and tables wiped down. I was reassured on Saturday by Gabi when I dropped everything off that all will be done by the time we arrived which I mentioned between 9-9:15. If I had not had my daughter dedication before the party I would have set up myself. I then asked for all my platters to come out at once to which only 4 of the 5 came out. I ordered an additional pizza platter and only then did the 5th platter I ordered come out with the additional pizza platter. I just feel for the R600 we pay for the set up over and about the R2000 venue hire, the service would have been top form. Think I expected too much.

Beautiful venue BUT the food is hugely overpriced and actually substandard . What a shame as it could be a hit
Brenda Clarke
We hosted our Grade R year end class breakfast at Happily Ever Laughter. The owners were so accommodating of our needs. We had such a lovely morning. Food was absolutely divine and the service was Excellent. Kids had a blast and all the families had such an enjoyable morning. Highly recommended!

Phoned for a reservation, no answer, when we got there there it was very full, a waitress said we would get the next available table after which other people came in & were helped before us as there were no control over the waiting list. The manager came & greeted the people in front of us that came in after us but didn't even acknowledge us. We just got up & left.
Marilyn Padiachy
Lovely Venue, Amazing staff, Delicious food. Thank you Tracy and Gabi.

We attended the Italian Cooking Class. Such a fun evening and the food was delicious. Highly recommended!
Gerhard Van Dalen
Waited 30 min for someone to take our drinks order. Left eventually as there was clearly no service.

We were greeted by Michael, who has the most amazing sense of humour and clearly loves what he does. He has a tremendous amount of energy and positive vibes. He is truly wonderful.

The food is tasty. I had the Healthy Alternative, which is half a paw paw with yogurt, honey, nuts and muesli for R85. Another person. Had a banting burger, another a fillet steak for R175 and there was also a kiddies burger.
One had a Ferrero Roche mini cake and another a waffle with ice cream. All was good but I find them terribly expensive.
Kids are kept very busy and they love it. The painting area is very expensive.
Michael Dowden
Great place to eat and bring the kids good playground which is secure. Food is ok has a good range and variety for a family restaurant, pizzas / burgers / tosties etc plus a good range of breakfasts, however there hot cakes come with GOLDEN syrup as apposed to maple syrup. Wine selection is good for the limited range but you will find something that is suitable to your preference, as a bonus they also have great selection of Gins
Casey K
A child friendly place. Food isn't great for the price you pay but maybe you pay for the convenience of the play area. Fun for lynch with friends too.
Craig Arenson
Made booking. Got caught in traffic. Phoned to make them aware. Got there 15 aftet booking and was told that we lost the table. Got attitude from manager . Pity because we were good customers. Wont return
Pamela Arenson
Absolutely disgusting service. We booked for the public holiday phoned from the car that we were running 10 min late. Manageress gave our table away and was then rude to us about it!!! She made no apologies or even tried to help.
FatCake101
Lovely place here, I love the decoration and the vibe. Very spacious on the inside, I thought it would be all cramped up in a small space. The service is great with friendly staff.

Wide selection of foods, I enjoyed their Nutella milkshake a lot. The sushi was also very good except the food there was quite overpriced.
Cherise Vogt
Absolutely magical place. The service and food was amazing. The children played while child minders looked after them attentively. The only reason that they don't get full marks is because they did not have my fiancé's deep fried ice cream available. Will be a regular visitor from now on.
VisZA
A great option when grabbing something to eat with the little ones. There is a myriad of kids activities but the beautiful victorian decor adds a touch of class and you still feel like a bit of an adult. Good clean italian inspired food, Pizza is freshly made and wood fired while the coffee freshly ground and outstanding. Kids fare is as good satisfying even the pickiest of eaters.

Great private bithday party rooms also available with delicious catered platters.
Pauline
Nice venue, perfect size - can see kids all the time. Food was presented well and very tasty. Liked the outdoor setting with a chique homely feel.
Dumi
We love the kids, we do. This spot loves them too , but just like your house they come first. The food was ok but it was very simple. Also don't come with your precocious 10 year old, this is little people heaven and she'll be bored cos she's a big girl. Great for a dine and watch, nope for fine cuisine.

We always looking for kiddie friendly and focused restaurants for lunch & breakfast, hence we arrived here today.
There is secure private parking and a well secured property and facilities.
There are tables for guests outside under umbrellas and inside. We sat outside as it was in touching distance of the main kiddie play area. The restaurant is definitely kiddie orientated and there are child minders in attendance in the playground. The main play area is fine and my daughter had a ball.
The service was adequate and the staff seemed interested until it came to paying. I had to walk around the restaurant floor looking for our waiter to get the bill and then again to pay.
We ordered a steak roll and a Mediterranean Couple. The prices are definitely in the higher category so we expected that the meal would match the price in creativity, quality, presentation and taste.
Neither my wife nor I were impressed. In fact my wife's chicken and beef skewer Couple looked very forlorn & lonely on the plate. Definitely not R92.00 worth of presentation or meal. In fact we felt taken advantage of. The chicken was dry and bland but the beef was ok'ish. The yogurt & mint sauce wasn't nice.
My steak wasn't cooked medium at all and honestly the meal was uninspiring and a bit tasteless. The Ciabatta was toasted so hard I struggled cutting it and I could only eat the bottom half. For R90.00 I've had much better elsewhere.
My daughter enjoyed playing and enjoyed her visit but my wife and I didn't. It's prices are on then higher end of the price spectrum but disappointing on the presentation, creativity, value, taste and happiness scale.
Sorry but we were not happy and did not enjoy our meal. Personally I feel there are better locations with more comprehensive playgrounds and better value for money meals.
Chantel
We went here with friends and their daughters would enjoy the play area. The child minders were not friendly and were not really interested in watching the two girls. The food was terrible the kiddies food was dripping in oil. The Prego was dry the salmon sandwich was tasteless and dry. I do not recommend this child friendly venue.
Martina.dejager
First timers but definitely not the last visit! Very pleasantly kiddy orientated and great food, awesome and friendly staff and the manageress/owner came to check up on us, so subtle but nice! All round a great find!!! Hope it gets it's well deserved patronage to stay for good!!! If you have kids >10 I'd suggest it any day... do yourself a favour... check it out!!
Chantel Ronaldson
Stunning gem of a location. When we were here it was very busy so booking ahead is a must. However great kiddy orientated restaurant but also catering for adult meals. We will back. Owner/ manager brilliant and very customer orientated!
The Restaurant Phantom
If you are looking for a typical "enfant lieu de manger" then this is a cool place for your kids to go run around a small urban jungle while the adults try and relax.

I say try because inevitably you will end up sliding up and down the sturdy equipment with your offspring.

Coffee was excellent although it could have been hotter when served, none of our other guests had any complaints.

Food wise we ordered pizza, chips and sushi for the kids, sadly the sushi chef was on leave for the first time in eternity so we humbly accepted the excuse for the lack of Japanese faire.

We had quite a mix of food from English breakfast, to omelettes, open sandwiches, salads and fruit with all leaving plates clean.

I did have a small issue with the Camembert and cranberry sauce omelette because once you cut into the thing, it looks absolutely disgusting, but tasted magic.

I would strongly recommend putting the sauce on the side purely for aesthetic reasons and to avoid others at the table saying "that looks gross".

The service was a bit slow but the owners made their rounds taking orders and clearing tables which was a nice gesture.

I would say really reasonable as we shelled out R1200 for 6 adults and 6 kids including tip.

Will definitely return to this spot as it has relaxed ambience and beautiful decor.

The menu is a bit confused what with cafe, Italian and Japanese faire but you can tell they are trying to have an inclusive offering for all tastes of the well heeled patrons.
Will definitely be back. A restaurant that was built with kids in mind. It really helps that the sushi was quite tasty and I am keen to come back and try other items on the menu. The play area is great and I see they also cater for parties.

Happily Ever Laughter isn't exactly what I was expecting. While nothing was inherently wrong with it I definitely was not expecting it to be so child orientated. To me it seems like a classy alternative to Spur as there is a huge children's play area with face painting for the kiddies and proper, well prepared meals for the parents (not the generic tasting Spur steak or burger) so I can understand why someone with children would rather dine at Happily Ever Laughter.
I liked that our drinks came in glass mason jars and the milkshakes are a must if you visit. We ordered the Sesame Street wrap and the Chorizo wrap, the former being the better by far. I found the Chorizo wrap lacked flavour (especially the mozzarella which had no taste at all) and the fresh herbs used in it were old. The menu seemed very meat orientated with the only vegetarian options being salad, toasted sandwiches and one wrap.
The service was good and the waitresses were very quick to take our order and bring us refills without being invasive.
Overall not a bad experience but I am not fond of children so I'll probably give it a skip in the future.

Sugar & Spice
Been there few times. Nice concept especially if you have children, atmosphere is relaxed, the food especially for the kiddies is presented very nice. Service is a bit slow and I find it very overpriced.

Happily Ever Laughter, if the name goes by anything, it sure
was that! Arrived here on a Saturday morning when it was pouring with
rain, to think that most people wouldn’t be out in the rain, but I was sure
wrong. This place was packed and by the looks and sounds of it, caters for kids
birthday parties offering a big play area outside. We didn’t book a table, but
was welcomed and accommodated into the back of the restaurant where it was
quieter away from all the kids. We arrived just before 11am, just in time for
breakfast. I had the Classic and my friend opted for the Parma Ham omelette
which he said was amazing. As it was near to lunch, my sweet tooth was looking
for a sweet treat and I had the chocolate brownies – to die for.

This restaurant is more for the family and kids, so if you
looking for a quiet spot, I suggest there are other restaurants for that.
Amanda Claassens
This venue is heaven for kids, and I quite enjoyed watching them play as we were seated outside, it being a pleasant autumn day. They sure make a good chai latte and a good cappuchino. We ordered the berry and balsamic reduction flapjacks. It proved to be less exciting than the description promised, and not exceptional value for money.

Great spot to take your kids. Best food I've had at any kids restaurant. Owners are friendly and service is always good. Great place for kids parties as well.
Aveena
Visited for mothers day. Food was excellent. Setvice from elton was exceptional. And the decor really sweet. Kids also loved it. The ferreo roche cake was yummy too. Definitely recommend. Such cute presentation for kids food.
Kim Chi
The owner takes good care of customers ,not a very big restaurant which is just right for the kiddies and parents. The food was good , quiet a big portion .
Tamarin Temblett
For the price of the food the portions were good and well prepared

We were quite disappointed with the service as well as the fact that the items on the menu were not served as described The fried ice cream did not have the fudge sauce or fudge pieces and after arguing with the waitress the manager eventually admitted that they were out of stock Why not then just tell the customer this to avoid disappointment?

It's something like this that can turn an afternoon bad and I really wish restaurants would just be up front with customers

The kids area is great but all in all I would not go back there in a hurry
Simon Trollope
Great speciality spot for parents with young kids. Great overall decor and layout of restaurant with a deck of tables looking into the fenced off playground. It was another super hot day so most of the jungle gym slides were just too hot to use but a very nice play area. The food was very good and it's a pretty diverse menu so caters to most tastes.
Janet Hofman
We came here for lunch the other day... it was excellent. It is extremely rare to find a kids place with great service and great food... AND a well equipped play area. My only criticism is that the play area is extremely sunny with very little shade. .. a few well placed trees may be an idea.
Natalie Lazaris
The benefits of friends having kids is to go to places like this. The food is yummy and the kids are free to play without moms having to worry. Quaint little restaurant with little goodies that you can shop for. Lovely Saturday morning spot
The Food Musketeer
After the panto we looked for a kid friendly spot near home and I remembered this name coming up. We got there quite late in the afternoon so we got a table. It's got a lovely kiddie play area for the kids to roam around and even a cat making an appearance for kids to chase. We had an awesome waiter... Elton, friendly and full of jokes and wit he made the visit so much better as we were slightly let down with the food. He made us laugh so much. They have a good extensive menu with great options but the actual flavours were a let down and lacking.

My ribs and chips however were soft and tender and I did enjoy the basting so I was quite happy. As for the rest of the them there wasn't any flavour it needed some salt or pepper or chilli and wasn't as full of flavour as we hoped. The potato croquettes was a bit on the mushy side. The haloumi was ok. We ordered a portion of peri peri sauce which really kicked it up a notch and added the right vooma. The fillet pasta didn't have much taste. The fillet steak with mushroom sauce with veg was also bland yet the meat was tender. The fillet trinchado was also not spicy at all.

We also ordered a kiddies portion of spaghetti bolognaise which came in the cutest pot which the kids will love.

Our rose wine also came in these qaint little glasses but wasn't keen on the taste

The restaurant also seems to adopt the same style of others lately which sell various food and non food goodies inside. It was nicely decorated for the festive season even having a chair for father Christmas to sit and take pictures with the little ones. The cakes looked good but we were rather full to try any dessert options sadly.
Had a lovely morning play date this morning! Great playground - with child minders, fab coffee and delish food. The staff and owner are also very attentive. Well worth it, we'll be back for sure
Mignon
An absolute gem! Lovely food, friendly & welcoming staff & childminders.Delicious food with great variety. A must with the little ones. Will be back for sure!

Incredible food. Perfect for families with kids are if you just want an amazing meal in a tranquil setting. The staff are super friendly and make you feel so welcome and appreciated
Rose Marie Pereira
Went there because it's next door to a friend's work so decided to go for a coffee and chat, but it turns out it's more of a place for parents with small kids and parties, they have a playground for the children which is very cute! The menu looks very appetizing I had the asparagus with Parmesan shavings which was 4 spears with a few shavings of Parmesan for R80 very pricey!! Don't go there for business meetings;)
Cait Morris
The ideal place for a sweet little drink in a trendy consol mug. Parents would benefit from organizing a lunch date with their friends and their friends kids too, the play area is superb for children and restaurant overlooks the playground so you don't have to worry about your little ones while you enjoy your meal.
Eleni
A really peaceful place to go to in Bedfordview especially if you have kids. However, I did not really enjoy my experience here.

For starters, I was planning to order the high tea that appears on their menu, only to be told that they don't make it anymore. Eventually I just opted for some coffee. The coffee was quite strong and delicious.

When I asked for the bill, it took over 10 minutes to come.

As peaceful as this place is, it can do with some improvement.
Monique Pereira
A great place for parents to have some coffee whilst their kids play!

However, I found their menu extremely overpriced for the amount of food you get. I had the asparagus spears starter and found it expensive for the portion size.
Christine Van Zyl
What a great place especially if you have children! Amazing ladies looking after the kids when nog the extra mile. Food was delicious , service a little slow but we did have a table of 20 .
Caitlin Hanck
Met a friend for milkshakes and cake on Friday afternoon and it was most delicious. The bar one cheesecake and ferrero rocher cake were both fresh and very tasty. There is a huge play area for kids so I can imagine that this place would be chaos on a weekend but it was perfect for some afternoon coffee and cake!
Lee Tatayas
Went there today. We were the only clients. Waited a long time to be served. They advertised Hi Tea but informed me that although it is on the menu, the dont have it. Waited a long time to pay my bill. Waiters were not well trained. Very expensive. On a positive note it is a lovely environment and a great play area for kids.
Candice
Play area is great and really original however food is over priced and not great :/ pizza was horrible in particular and the baguette not much better. The Lindt milkshake was also so so disappointing (secretly this was my reason for going) but for the kids area it is worth the trip!!
Jennifer Valentim
I planned my mom's birthday brunch there this past Saturday for only ladies :) we loved the whole set out and everyone loved their breakfast!!
The cafe was quite full - and we can see how it attracts young moms with kids as it is an ideal situation where the kids are entertained.
I would recommend this to young adults and definitely if you have kids.

The only complaint I have is that at 10am the background music of choice was Eminem ? and the whole point of "background" music is so that you can still hear yourselves having a conversation. Was a little startling this early in the morning ;)
JudiRobalo
Had the absolute pleasure of being here on Mothers Day..what an experience-dining, waitron as well as the kids play area which can be seen from this really lovely restaurant.
Sushi starters Fillet Mignon as a main and the mini waffles (menu states 2 mini waffles- if those were minis would love to see the normal size ones!) with icecream, pecans and chocolate sauce mmmm. What a gem of a place-will go back in a heartbeat.
Ramiro Robalo
An absolute MUST! If you have children, and want a beautiful place for lunch this is the place to be. The decor is amazing, the vibe is energetic, the food is phenomenal and the wait staff are an absolute pleasure!

I visited on mothers day, lunch time and our waiter handle our table of 9 like an absolute legend.

The venue boasts entertainment for children and endless activities, beautiful "sippy cups" and amazing food.

While most child friendly venues can become cumbersome due to the size this intimate but spacious venue allows you to have your children close enough to see and hear while enjoying an amazing lunch that every foodie would be impressed with.

I'm not easily taken aback but I must say I throughly enjoyed it here. The owners experience in the industry shines through in this little gem.
Trudie Keys
This place is awesome! The decor is so hip en fantastic for families with small kids. Food great, sushi was fresh. Kiddies meals also good. Overall a bit pricy but didn't mind as took own wine and didn't have to pay for that as well.
Hayley-Ann Rodgers
This little gem is absolute heaven! Not only is the food superb, but the staff are amazing! From the minute you walk in the door, they make you feel like family and are willing to do anything to make your visit extra special. The food is delicious from start to end, and the decor and playing area is devine! Elton is the friendliest and best waiter we've ever encountered in many years of dining. Happily Ever Laughter definitely has the right recipe for the ultimate dining experience! We are definitely going to become regulars!
Ania Botha
A place that's not for us, but for families it's perfect. They have a lovely play area for kids. We ordered the bacon avo pasta and trinchado, both dishes were super good. The rest of the table ordered the bolognaise and fillet, also good! The food took abit long to come but the place was quite busy and we were a big table.
Michelle Rocke
Lovely spot in Bedfordview, great play area for kids and probably better suited for families with young children which we aren't. Breakfast menu limited but food was good.
