Review Yamitsuki - Bedfordview

Man oh man was I blown away by this place. Warm greetings from the staff and we were promptly seated. Huge variety of drinks to choose from. We had a couple of cocktails before moving to some beers. Offered a lemon sorbet palate cleanser as soon as seated as well as some chicken potstickers (soooo good that we ordered mains as well). Cocktails we had the blue kamikaze, cherry blossom G&T as well as the cosmo kiss for 2. Tried out the salmon popper sushi (beautiful), prawn tempura, chicken potsticker cashew nut and tomahawk ribeye(perfectly cooked and a must have with their signature sauce) and the best egg fried rice i have ever had. Our waitress Sinky was very attentive and made sure we were well looked after and our chef was also very friendly and on point. Will highly recommend this place and will definitely be returning in the near future. A little bit pricey but worth every cent!

Very high-end experience, I was welcomed with lemon sorbet palate cleansers upon arrival. Extreme variety of unique cocktails that are an experience on their own. Food presentation is next level and of a high quality. This is definitely a place to go to if you want to take your sushi experience to another level. It is more on the expensive side, but I feel it is worth it. The food is very high quality and the experience is worth the visit.

For starters, the food was amazing. The staff take really good care of you. You can tell that customer service is a priority at this restaurant. I absolutely loved the experience. Will go again !

I have been there 3 times since January! Every single time the food is absolutely incredible, the waiters and chefs are always so friendly and accommodating and I am able try something new dishes without the worry of if I would like it or not. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. It is worth the 45 minute drive for me!

Immersive experience eating in front of the chefs preparing your food. The food is prepared to a quality standard and the flavours amazing. Great atmosphere as well especially if celebrating a birthday. Definite must visit for locals and tourists.

Absolutely brilliant!! Hands down one of my best experiences, they tend to make you feel like you're family šŸ’œ and they really go out of their way to make sure you are having a good and comfortable time

The food was tasty en presented well. The selection of cocktails or drink is extensive and comes with extra flair. Worth the price you pay! Photos by Katherine Brits

I had a wonderful experience at the sushi restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious! The presentation was beautiful and the flavors were unique and well balanced. The staff was very friendly and welcoming too. I especially enjoyed the variety of specialty rolls and the sushi bar. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a great sushi experience!

Having heard non stop about how great they were, we decided to give them a shot. Overall, it was a decent experience and I certainly canā€™t complain about anything. I will admit, based on the hype, I was hesitant but it was enjoyable. Their veg protein bowl had ample protein so I was happy about that. A little on the expensive side but youā€™re getting quality ingredients and decent portions.

Excellent service, the waitress took good care of us and the entire experience was most delightful. The Sushi was the best ever, the meat was beautiful and tender.....the dessert, so fresh and tasty. All in all I'm a happy client.

Incredible experience. Mpilo is an excellent chef, the service was amazing, one of the best tasting food in Jhb.

I went there for dinner with my friend. We ordered: ā€¢ Chicken Teppanyaki Bowl with egg fried rice and Teppanyaki sauce ā€¢ Bang Bang Shrimp Roll ā€¢ Sunset Roll ā€¢ Calamari with rice noodles in Spicy Nut Style ā€¢ Nutella Crepe Positives: 1. The Chicken Bowl was very good. The sauce was delicious and paired well with all the ingredients. The chicken wasn't as tender as expected but the dish was still highly enjoyable. 2. Their sushi were made and presented well. The Sunset Roll had great textures while the Bang Bang Shrimp Roll came with delicious sauces. The rice was well-cooked and the salmon was fresh. 3. Very tender calamari and the rice noodles were cooked perfectly. 4. We had an attentive waitress who gave us a good service. Negatives: 1. The "Tempura Prawn" in their sushi isn't made fresh but rather made in bulk prior and left in a bowl. They had no crunch nor flavour to them and the prawns tasted tough. 2. The rice noodles in Spicy Nut Style had good textures but was lacking in flavour. It wasn't spicy and needed something more to elevate its taste. 3. The Nutella Crepe was surprisingly dry. It was quite basic and overpriced. It could use some fruit or ice cream. Perhaps even something like citrus zest to cut the sweetness of the Nutella. Overall, this restaurant was enjoyable. You pay premium prices for elevated dishes. I would recommend a different method (other than bulk prepping) for making tempura prawns though; fry them fresh for any orders so they won't get tough/stale while adding another level of texture to a dish. Note: they have a great lunch special. See last couple of pictures

The food was absolutely amazing, the waiters well trained and very friendly. Being a very cold day, they offered us each a warm blanket and had the overhead heater on.

We celebrated my spouse's birthday at Yamitsuki and were very impressed with the service and food. The restaurant is bustling at all times, and I suggest you make a reservation if you want to sit outside. Prince, our waiter, was fantastic and knowledgeable. The food was presented well and tasted great.
Ivan Wessels
A great Japanese restaurant with a modern twist. Traditional Japanese cuisine elevated to the next level. The menu includes fire sushi that is set alight at your table, smoked cocktails and desserts and bubble sushi. A number of vegetarian options also available. The food looks stunning and tastes amazing. Staff very friendly and attentive. Affordable prices. Inside sushi bar and outside seating. Gets busy on weekends so reservations are recommended. Highly recommend this restaurant. Will definitely be returning.

Delicious rib eye Tepanyaki and great service. Watching the chefs cook in front of you is great. Overall a great night out

Staff was friendly and the food was very good. Asian cheese puffs were really tasty.

Probably the worst restaurant to go to. Had an unacceptable experience at dinner. No sanitizing. Crammed restaurant with people on top of each other with no staff to have ANY service. Waiting over and hour to get our drinks. Complained to the manger twice who didnā€™t do anything. Went to a second manager that eventually brought drinks after waiting an additional hour. This place is disgusting.
Sean William
Really think the food is insanely overpriced for what you get.
Audrey
Absolutely love the teppanyaki! The food is extremely fresh! Uncompromised premium service and cuisine. Ooooh, yes, their gin cocktails are to die for!!! And they serve beautiful sake!!!

Had to call the waiter to take a drinks order. Disinterested waiters and slow service<br/>Hostess spent all her time talking to the staff never checked on the patrons<br/>When asked how much longer for our food she disappeared without a response <br/>The key to a services business is service!

10.11.2019 After having a sushi craving for the past few months, I finally had my fill. We made our way here to Yamitsuki as I've always heard great things about them, as they have been around for the past 19 years.<br/><br/>They have an extensive menu, with so many options. Also they are known for their flaming and smoked Sushi as well as cocktails.<br/><br/>To start I had the Rock Shrimp Tempura, which is flamed at your table, and the Crispy Fish Tacos. (tempura hake, red onion, avocado, thick soy sauce, yummy sauce and sesame seeds). My sister had the smoked Ocean Roll.<br/><br/>While waiting we tried one of the bowls on the sushi belt, which was lovely and had a lekker crunch to it.<br/><br/>My rock Shrimp was delicious, portion size is minute but loved the sauce that it had and the flaming thereof just enhanced it. My fish Tacos however were very disappointing, really small as well. It was extremely bland, it didn't have any of the flavour as per the menu description, not even basic seasoning. My sisters smoked sushi was really tasty.<br/><br/>We then ordered another round of Sushi. The bang bang shrimp, and the spider roll. Although it was tasty, I think I just expected more from my meals as a whole. There are some more non sushi items I'd like to try on my next visit.<br/><br/>Our service from Sandile was great. šŸ‘šŸ»<br/><br/>#TheFoodMusketeer<br/>#TheFoodMusketeerEats<br/>#TFMYamitsuki

The service is always great and staff are always super friendly! My husband and I always order the ā€œplease name meā€ sushi roll for a starter and then he has the wagyu cashew noodles and I order like 5 portions of dim sum in various flavoursšŸ˜ the food is ALWAYS amazing and the combination of flavours is so unique, you cannot find it anywhere else, and weā€™ve definitely tried! Thanks to Yamitsuki for being our favourite date night spot!
Marcia
The perfect Asian dining experience<br/>The mesmerizing display of skill by the teppanyaki chefs made this night a memorable one.<br/>I highly recommend the rock shrimp tempura. One of the most delicious things I've ever eaten.<br/>Definitely worth a second visit.<br/>

I recently visited Yamitsuki in Bedfordview. Yamitsuki is a Japanese restaurant boasting great sushi, noodles, teppanyaki and dim sum. Having heard only good things about this restaurant, I decided to make a booking and pay them a visit. Upon our arrival we were seated at the teppanyaki grill which, I must say having recently visited Kobe, Kyoto and Tokyo, is a very authentic set up. My benedict and I started with some cocktails. Yamitsuki certainly serves an extensive and very impressive list of cocktails. I opted for the pink sling; a delicious and refreshing concoction of gin, watermelon, grapefruit, strawberry extract and cranberry juice. My benedict went for the smoking sundried orange and rosemary G & T. We then started with the complimentary chicken pot stickers (and I was just recently on the hunt for some great gyoza). The dumplings were prepared with chicken, coriander and cashew nuts and then cooked on the teppanyaki grill right in front of us. These were a lovely little treat for the taste buds. Since we wanted to try a variety of dishes from Yamitsuki, my benedict and I shared the rump teppanyaki along with some egg fried rice and bok choy in a ponzu sauce. The rump was perfectly cooked full of that amazing teppanyaki grilled flavour. This was a truly well executed and authentic Japanese dish. We also ordered the BBQ pork dim sum which was another great choice. Our waiter recommended we also try the Yamitsuki sushi so we tried the OMG roll (apparently named after the patronsā€™ reaction when eating this sushi ;-)) and some salmon fashion sandwiches. The sushi too was really impressive and Yamitsuki have a great sushi bar as an alternative seating option. For dessert we had the popping fried ice cream and orea dish. While not necessarily an authentic dish of Japan, Iā€™m pretty sure that any respectable Japanese foodie will rave about this dessert. I really loved this dessert.

We came here for a celebratory birthday dinner. The atmosphere was very welcoming and we were treated very well. The food was tasty and we will definitely like to come back for more!

We visited Yamitsuki on a busy Saturday evening. Based on the Zomato reviews we knew that booking a table was essential. All tables are outside unless you want to sit on the sushi or teppenyaki bar. Luckily there are heaters outside so the cold doesnā€™t really matter. <br/>The staff are friendly and attentive. We were welcomed with a sorbet palate cleanser and thereafter ordered our drinks and food. <br/><br/>We had two different sushi rolls. The Philadelphia roll and the spicy tuna roll. Both were great but we enjoyed the Philadelphia roll better. For mains we shared the ribeye teppenyaki. It was very tasty but some pieces were more dry and not as tender as other. We guessed that maybe some of the pieces werenā€™t actually ribeye and rather rump or something similar. We felt that this was a small issue and not worth complaining about. Overall the dish was nice, nothing spectacular but was tasty and different compared to a usual steak. <br/><br/>The desserts were very rich and we would have definitely enjoyed it more if we werenā€™t already pretty full. The caramel mousse tasted a lot like condensed milk mixed with some caramel. Nothing too special but it was enjoyable. The cheesecake was very rich. We would have preferred the marshmallows being tempura rather than the entire cheesecake. We ended up eating the cheesecake without the batter. <br/><br/>Overall it was a good experience and would recommend it. <br/><br/>J & R<br/>

Excellent concept restaurant with a focus on fusion Asian cuisine! Friendly chefs prepare your meal in front of you which contributes to an immersive, multi-sensory experience. Definitely worth visiting.

What a wonderful experience. A great place to celebrate your birthday as they go above and beyond to make it really special. The cocktails are presented beautifully with lots of theatrics and sitting at the teppenyaki grill is also entertainment in itself. The food is out of this world (best egg fried rice I've ever had, hands down) and they also have plenty of options on the menu. I will go back again and again and again.
Sibusiso
Decided to go for something different from the usual Jhb cuisine favorites and wow what an experience. Had some Dim Sum starters which was grilled by the chef. The area is well lit to add to the cozy atmosphere. We were served by Jeffrey who recommended I try their grilled salmon (Smokey lemon butter sauce) with egg noodles, whilst my daughter had the chicken (teppayaki sauce) with egg rice. Sensational textures on both and I would recommend visiting at least once.
Nina Mancha
One of the best Asian restaurants around.<br/><br/>We were introduced to Yamitsuki by friends. The food here is packed with flavor. The menu has tons to offer so there're plenty of vegetarian dishes to choose from.<br/><br/>

Yamitsuki has an incredible vibe as soon as you get there. Their sushi is fresh, vibrant and adventurous. The only negative is that their prices are a bit higher than they should be. I have gone to many other sushi restaurants with the same amazing aspects but they are way more affordable. <br/><br/>I would love to go back to Yamitsuki but sadly their prices are way to highšŸ˜¢. Thank you for the amazing sushi experience though.

Chilled, relaxing atmosphere. The restaurant is also cozy and intimate. Service is wonderful! Waiters are pleasant and helpful. Food was absolutely amazing! The gin cocktails are divine and I really love that they give you complementary potstickers, nice little touch. Unfortunately not able to upload the videos of the food being cooked with firešŸ¤·šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø

I found this restaurant on Zomato and decided to give it a try for a birthday lunch. And what an amazing birthday lunch it turned out to be! The first thing that really stands out is the impeccable service and attention to detail. It is seldom you find a restaurant who truly understands customer service! And then the food..... also WOW! We sat on the Teppanyaki side and enjoyed having a real food theatre experience! From complimentary Dim Sum to fired sushi and topped off with Beef Teppanyaki- what a wonderful experience!! And Kelvin our waiter and all the staff were phenomenal!! If you love this kind of food, do yourself a favor and visit Yamitsuki!!
Banele Manana
What an amazing amazing place. Fun to sit inside! They have cool cocktails that are smokey and all technical šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ ask your waiter about it šŸ¹šŸø<br/><br/>Food was excellent šŸ˜‹šŸ˜‹ I could live here!

I am absolutely in love with this place, last night I visited the place for the first time I didn't really know what to expect how busy it would be and so on so I booked a table in the end we decided we would sit at the conveyor belt since they had a fixed price on all sushi.<br/><br/>Our waitress introduced herself to us Appie and WOW what a ray of sunshine, she was everything you wanted in a waitress she knew the menu, she was fast and effective knew when to stand back and let us enjoy our meals en knew when to ask whether we needed something. she would let you know whats going on in the kitchen. I ordered their Pot stickers and she came to let me know that the kitchen was busy making a new batch and that that is why I am waiting a little bit longer. she then returned with two batches of Pot stickers where one was complementary to apologize for the wait.<br/>All and all I would recommend Appie to everyone she was amazing.<br/><br/>the food was just as good the sushi was really good everyone loved it, it was fresh well prepared and I enjoyed it thoroughly. the pot stickers and dim sum was just as good wanted more and more after each tasting would really recommend it to everyone. Their curries are also really nice and good portion sizes their noodles were also really good.

This Place is amazing. The service is top notch. After sitting down in under 5 minutes we had our drinks and complimentary lemon sorbet. All round from waiter to chef just brilliant

This is without a doubt one of the best sushi restaurants around. The fire sushi is out of this world. They decor is simple but elegant giving it a relaxed but trendy atmosphere. I can't fault them on they're plating and presentation of dishes. On the negative our waitron wasn't familiar with the menu and our food took 40 minutes to arrive after we placed the order. Overall i would say its still worth a visit.
Zain And Faye
I love coming here for their Teppanyaki. There's just a different feeling when you see your food getting cooked infront of you rather than just having it served to you... The atmosphere and vibe is always chilled and the waiters and waitresses are generally friendly and helpful!<br/><br/>P.S. The corn soup starters are amazing!
Greg Koenderman
The food and service are always great and the conveyor belt system is one of the more successful ones around, creating a great interactive atmosphere.
Ikram Gabr
Simply put....the best dim sum in JHB šŸ˜Š the service, the vibe...superb experience, the Calamari Tapanyaki with egg stir-fry rice is addictive, add a bit of fresh chili, garlic and ginger and you have a winner! <br/>Every dish I had in this place is a delight.

I went to Yamitsuki on Tuesday. The 4.1 rating drew me in. The service was initially really good and the vibe remained good. Itā€™s a great setup. <br/><br/>I ordered the bottomless miso. It had good flavour, but there was an element that was not right. The tofu was soft but did not taste like tofu, and therefore I did not enjoy that. <br/><br/>I took a set of salmon roses from the conveyor belt. The salmon itself was fine, but the rice was hard. Bad rice in Sushi turns the dish around. I did not want to try any more sushi after that. <br/><br/>I then ordered a noodle and beef dish. There was some flavour in it, but the noodles were too soggy and that ruined the dish for me. The beef was done nicely. <br/><br/>When I was seated I had a very good waitress. The second waitress (because I moved to the Sushi area) was not attentive, and looked irritated when the person who joined me did not order a drink. There was no real check up to see if we were fine during the course of dinner. <br/><br/>I am not excited to return as for Japanese food I prefer authentic Japanese food, with good rice and excellent fish.

Yamitsuki is really in our top 3 favorite restaurants around Johannesburg. Sushi and any Asain styled food is something I crave on a daily basis, and Yamitsuki definitely hits the spot!<br/><br/>From complimentary starters to seeing the chef cook right in front of you, its truly an awesome experience. The staff are also friendly and extremely efficient.<br/><br/>We've tried many different things on the menu and last night we had some delicious dumplings, a seafood platter for one, omg sushi with yummy sauce, a sushi burrito, a barone baked cheese cake and a scrumptious signature dessert! All of this for a reasonable competitive price when it comes to Asian food.<br/><br/>Can't wait to go again!
Monique Steenekamp
Yes! Highly recommended. We go for their prawn and cream cheese dumplings atleast once a month, and we stay for their sushi. I didn't take any pictures but the prawn tempura sushi is an all time favorite. Good wine selection too. Honestly the only reason I'm not dining at Yamitsuki more often is it's quite expensive, but worth it if you feel like splurging.
Loveā¤food
Very dissapointing! I didn't enjoy the sushi one bit and the noodles were tasteless. I've had much, much better sushi and noodles and unfortunately won't come back. <br/><br/>The setting is nothing to rave about and the fact that the pigeons walk so close to the doors almost like they walking in to take a seat is a big NO, NO for me. <br/><br/>
Candice
Great service. The waitress seated me in a chair close to the heater and she brought blankets for good measure, as I waited for my friend to arrive. When I was ordering my food, the waiter was knowledgeable of the dishes and he went out of his way to fetch the iPad to show me some of the dishes. I ordered the salmon maki, asian pears and chicken, cashew gyoza for a light lunch. Keep up the good service, Yamitsuki!
Gary Greenberg
This is one of the best Asian style restaurants in Joburg with simple decor, professional, intimate and very good service. There are three different sections to this restaurant: Outside common dining area, sushi and teppanyaki.Ā <br/><br/>There is a good variety of sushi and noodle dishes available on the menu for vegetarians and meat eaters. The spring rolls are very fresh and well prepared.<br/><br/>The rice is prepared with margarine (instead of butter) however it is buttery and a good portion. The spinach and cream cheese dim sum just perfectly balanced and is not too creamy.<br/><br/>The teppanyaki chefs are very hands on, helpful and definitely deserve all the compliments. As for the food, the teppanyaki dishes areĀ spiced well as per your liking when the chef asks about your preferences.<br/><br/>What is a nice touch is that they give you an espresso cup sized chicken soup and some dim sum to start your meal, on the house, when arriving. Unfortunately, no complimentary vegetarian option even though they are very hospitable.<br/><br/>Don't forget to try the dessert, if you have any space in your gut, as it is well worth having some fresh strawberries and chocolate to end off your experience.<br/><br/>I would highly recommend visiting this restaurant in the Bedfordview strip.Ā <br/><br/>Well worth many visits!
Jolene
REALLY love the sushi here! I don't mind taking a drive all the way to Bedford just because of this gem. I always end up spending way too much money here - not because they're overpriced, but just because I cannot stop ordering and trying new things! The service is always great as well.
Judith Fouchee
This place can never disappoint! Best sushi, friendly staff, amazing gin and just an overall great experience. Without a doubt the best Prawn dim sum i have ever had
Valery Mthunywa
The best Sushi I have ever had!! <br/>I ordered for takeout, the salmon and avocado hand roll and rock shrimp tempura. <br/>It was fresh & Very tasty. <br/>One downside is that the Rock shrimp tempura were not rolled well, they fell apart as soon as it crabbed it. <br/>The prices are very reasonable!
Molecules And Macaroons
We had an incredible Valentine's dinner at Yamitsuki last night. The restaurant ran a competition and we were lucky enough to win a voucher and boy did we put it to good use.<br/><br/>We love their dim sum - the prawn and cream cheese dumplings and the chicken and prawn pears are our favourites! If you're a fan of sushi, do try the rainbow reloaded, the sauce and tempura flakes elevate a standard rainbow roll to something really memorable. Other standouts are their poke bowls and sushi burritos - the best we've tried so far in Joburg.<br/><br/>Although Yamitsuki isn't perfect, with excellent service and delicious food, it's pretty darn close and that's why it's one of our go to places for Asian food.
Trevor
Very friendly and professional service was the first thing that stood out. Attention to details excellent <br/>We had dim sum for starters / probably equal to best Iā€™ve had.<br/>Mains were sweet and sour chicken stir fry and angry crab hand rolls <br/>Had mojitoā€™s and pina colada - Brilliant <br/>Highly recommended
Morne Scheepers
Only been there twice, once roughly 3 years ago . . . Very average and overpriced. Went there again today, still VERY average and still overpriced for the quality they serve you. If you wake up one morning, craving a pot of rice served to you in small portions, then this is your spot. I always measure an eatery by the basics, if you can't server the basics (california rolls, maki, rainbow's etc) properly and tastefull, why would I order or try your house speciality. Basics.
Cassie
Highly disappointed! Tried several different types of sushi. All were poorly made. Fell apart when trying to eat them. Overpriced for the quality. We also waited for an hour for our order.
Steve Green
Our 1st time at the restaurant and what can we say but wow the food was truly amazing with terrific service <br/>All 10 out of 10, we will definitely be going back<br/>
Kenny
Nice atmosphere. Good service. Enjoyed it. The small personal touches definitly count. Nice variety. I like the choice if seating offered. Enjoyed cheese puffs.
Dalene Rowe
The sushi was good, watching them make it was entertaining and the tempura fries were AMAZING. Friendly waiters and lovely atmosphere. Good outing
Shinaaz Roberts
Feeling lazy and hungry, I decided to order in. šŸ¤I know right? Well worth it. The food was fresh and tasty. It is very obvious that good quality ingredients are used in the preparation. I opted for the crab hand roll and Prawn teppanyaki with egg fried rice. The presentation and taste was not compromised by the fact that it was a take out order. It is quite obvious that the proprietor is proud of the product as evidenced by the quality of the containers used. It may seem like a strange observation, but great quality permeates the entire experience, not just the meal. I have no hesitation in recommending Yamitsuki. Next time, Iā€™ll actually make it to the restaurantšŸ˜†
Nirusha Ramla
Thoroughly enjoyed the food being prepared in front of us. The flavours truly tantalize the tastebuds. Wide variety of options in the menu. The service by the waiter can be improved. Overall great evening shared with friends.
Let Them Eat Cake
An old Bedfordview favourite! The sushi is always fresh and tasty. The new addition Sushi donuts are a fun must for a meal!!! will be back to try all the different variations.
Carin
Best sushi I've ever had!!<br/>Big variety of sushi, nice presentation, good service <br/>The teppanyaki fillet were also the best I've ever had!<br/>What a gem of a place<br/>Will definitely be back!
Efcee
The waiter was friendly. The sushi was fresh and light. The tempura prawns and dim sums are exquisite and the presentation of food blew me away. The origami samurai hat was the cherry on the cake.
Florenz0
The food was divine. The only place that makes dim sum like this is The Oriental and Erawan. Their sushi was unbelievable too. I was happy with the service too. I just didn't like the seating. It's not intimate. It's a very casual seating restaurant. Not do dine or have a business meeting. Will definitely go back there when I feel like a quick awesome meal or order take away.
Ulana Krugel-Vosloo
We love this restaurant. You won't find better dumplings anywhere. The staff are always friendly and we find the atmosphere relaxing. We also love the detail and theatricsĀ when it comes toĀ presentation. It makes the experience exiting and you look forward to every dish.
Jess Young
I was in the area and decided to go for an impromptu dinner here - it also happened to be a Monday and so, a great opportunity to take advantage of Yamitsuki's 2 plates for the price of 1 special.<br/><br/>The staff were friendly and welcomed us at the door. The seating near the conveyor belt was rather full, so after trying to see if there was a decent space, we opted to sit at a table instead. Shortly thereafter, the waiter let us know there were seats at the conveyor belt that freeing up and he'd move us as there soon as he had cleaned it up - I really appreciated his attentiveness.<br/><br/>As mentioned, it was pretty full and so there was a nice buzz and it was pretty 'vibey' (especially given that it was a Monday).<br/><br/>The only downfall was the sushi, not to say it was bad but given the high reviews, I'd expect to want to savor ever morsel and have to consciously hold back on eating too much given that it wasn't a buffet and I might land up needing to wash dishes to pay back the debt.<br/><br/>The rice was slightly hard and I felt like the fish lacked flavour. The sushi plates that contained mayonnaise, I felt were unbalanced and had been ladened with too much mayo, downing out the taste and texture of the rice and fish, to add to that, the mayonnaise was extremely sweet, more so than the expected 'kewpie' type mayonnaise that the restaurants tend to use.<br/><br/>To Yamizuki's credit, the salmon and avo handroll had a generous portion of fish and so they can't be criticized for being stringy on that front. Their sushi is also quite experimental and unique , so if you are one to enjoy different flavours e.g. strawberry, mango, cream cheese, biltong, you might enjoy it for that reason.<br/><br/>For dessert, I had the dessert trio (consisting of a chocolate wonton, deep fried ice cream and a nutella crepe). It was well presented and if you have a sweet tooth, it'll probably hit the spot. It's not something I'd crave or go back for in the future, but it was something nice to close off the meal.<br/><br/>The meal (not including drinks) came to about R420, had the special not been in place, it would've set us back just under R800. For me personally, I would've felt cheated if I paid full price.<br/><br/>I definitely won't be going back here in a rush and would rather hit one of the another sushi place closer by that have a buffet option available for better quality sushi that's trying less hard.<br/><br/>I'm not sure what it's scored so high rating (apart from the good service), but I am glad I've ticked it off the box and know better.
Christelle
I must say, at the moment Yamitsuki is my favourite restaurant. If I could I would go there every day! <br/><br/>It has a wide variety, so it's not just for the sushi lover. <br/><br/>Some items are a bit pricey, but overall it is actually great value for money. I just simply love their sushi and dim sum!! Haven't tried any meat dishes but they always look super delicious!
Nitesh Tulsie
Took my son for a special lunch. Both of us were amazed by the level of service and meals that we ordered. Presentation was outstanding. We enjoyed the entire meal as the waiters and cook at the stove made the experience exceptional.
Jessica
Never had a bad meal or experience. Proffessional, friendly staff. Sushi always fresh and teppanyaki was excellent. Complementary chicken and corn soup always served, with a cool sorbet to cleanse pallet. On our particular night out it was cold and we were offered blankets over our legs. Still one of my favorite places!

We absolutely loved the amazing service from Solly and the food was Devine. The best dim sum I have ever had I highly recommend the prawn and cream cheese šŸ˜

I had a great dinner date with my partner. The food was amazing. Goodwill was a great waiter. Loved the whole experience.. sushi could be better.

An experience like no other. By far the best sushi and teppanyaki on the east rand. Great service and unexpected treats. Make an effort to come here.
Kylie
Great food.. Love the fact that they cater for sushi eaters and non sushi eaters. Rotating sushi counter is a lot of fun. Enjoyed the restaurant

After many years after I first tried them out, decided to give them a try again as I have been craving good sushi.<br/><br/>Great wine selection even by the glass.<br/><br/>Friendly staff always on their toes to help, very attentive staff where if they see you turning around looking around they ask of everything is good, this for me what extremely important.<br/><br/>The dim sum was absolutely tastes beyond words, the sushi was very fresh and very quickly prepared.<br/><br/>Dessert was a little too sweet (dessert trio) but nevertheless it was divine to end a lovely spent evening.<br/><br/>The dim sum and the attentive staff is reason for my rating even when this place was filled to an almost capacity.<br/><br/>Well done!

Dim sum, sushi and the noodles are awesome! They have a good wine selection and the atmosphere is very hip.The staff are very attentive and efficient. Perfect for a date night!

We've been going to Yamitsuki for years, their Sushi is always great, even as a takeaway it really holds up. Most recently I booked a table at the teppanyaki side for my wife and I on our 14 year anniversary.Ā  The food was absolutely fantastic and the service was great. We ate quite a variety of food that night. The Dim Sum portions are really big the Crispy Calamari was amazing, but the best was the Prawn Teppanyaki. We had a bunch of surprises on our evening from complimentary dumplings to happy anniversary signs on the chefs pan in front of us, and also on our dessert with a sparkler that was not short of a mini fireworks display to top off the meal!<br/><br/>A Heartful Thank you to the staff at Yamitsuki for making our night special!

Great sushi, great dim sum and good service.<br/><br/>Must try the Yume Roll, Spinach Cream Cheese Dim Sum (they get it so right) and of course Edamame beans which they serve spicy on req.<br/><br/>Not the most beautiful spot but the food is well worth and consistently good over the past year/s that we've been going . <br/><br/>A note - when sitting at the sushi bar and it's not packed, the sushi chefs do tend to stare which can be ...

I eat quite often at this restaurant. Generally the food is of a good standard and the waiters are very friendly. Ā Diners can choose to sit in the sushi conveyor belt section, the teppanyaki bar section or outside. The complementary sorbet, dim sum and/or soup is always a welcome nice touch. The layout of the restaurant is Ā likely more suited for smaller groups . Worth a visit.

First time here, love this place! The service is good even when the place is packed. Love the sushi's, it tastes amazing and even the noodles !

After not eating at Yamitsuki for quite some time, we ordered takeaway delivery from them this evening. While the service was good (the only reason they're getting a score above zero), the food was abysmal. Clearly there has been a change of ownership, menu change and possibly a complete disregard for serving good food since I last frequented them. We ordered the crispy beef and chicken noodles and were faced with horribly dry meat drenched in ready-made, artificial, sugary sauce. Far from the old days of tasty, fresh Asian stir fry. Obviously the focus is not producing quality Asian themed food anymore. Perhaps they need to focus on the (newly added) burgers and pregos. - Very disappointed.
Cisserine Smith
Such a great evening. Tepanyaki is always an experience and the chef tonight did not disappoint #lwazi. Great prawns, dim sum and crepe. And even Portugal cannot beat the Prego roll. They will definitely see us again.

An on the spur of the moment decision to join some colleagues for lunch had me visit Yamitsuki in Bedfordview.<br/><br/>I do not consider myself a sushi connoisseur so can only comment on the taste and experience as a whole. I was pleasantly delighted at the selection on offer and I chose to just let the host recommend his favourites. <br/><br/>Fast and efficient service ensured we were kept well hydrated and supplied with fresh sushi. The sushi chefs prepare the sushi in the middle in full view and that adds to the ambience.<br/><br/>The most remarkable for me was the signature strawberry and cream cheese, salmon rolls - a great flavor combination and very moreish.<br/><br/>Dessert was good - I had the deep fried Nutella. <br/><br/>Not cheap but well worth the experience.
Miguel Dos Santos
I'm a little disappointed with my experience here. After seeing all the reviews and ads I was excited to come here but it didn't live up to the expectation. The food wasn't bad but not amazing. The sushi was decent but quite pricey compared to others. The service was really poor and the waiting staff were very uninformative. Overall not a bad night out
Carlo Fortugno
Crazy expensive and total rip off. Never again. Almost R200 for a small platter of sushi (with no sashimi) makes it way more expensive than a places like KOI in Sandton. By far not recommended.
Andre Breytenbach
Venue is nice and hip, sushi bar on the one side & your typical Japanese grill on the other. Ā The sushi belt is packed to the brim, but not cheap, average plate +- R55 with about 3 pieces on each. Plenty of parking outside and the staff is all very helpful & friendly! Well worth a visit. Ā Take away available as well.

This Restaurant was such a delight.<br/>I had some of the best Dim Sum/Dumplings I've ever tasted in Joburg, The one of the waiters was really helpful, explaining not only the history behind the Teppanyaki but also what it was, tasted like etc. (as I had never heard of it before). I'll definately be back there soon !
Fabiana
Very cool how the food is cooked in front of you and the food is divine! I absolutely loved everything I ordered -dim sum, sushi and my teppanyakišŸ£<br/>The dumplings and chicken-corn soup came unexpectedly (complimentary) and deeelicious!šŸ² wonderful service too! <br/><br/>Absolutely loved the Nutella pancakes for dessert afterwards aswell! šŸ˜
Bianca Daniels
Went here the other day for dinner with a friend, was jam packed but managed to get a seat. Atmosphere was awesome and our waiter was so friendly and helpful. The sushi conveyor belt was good except for the strawberry sushi stuff, it was obvious to see people do not enjoy eating it as 9 plates still sit untouched. Very tasty and interesting sushi though and the edamame bean salad was awesome!!! Only real disappointing things was the Dim Sum, no seasoning, no real taste and just underwhelming. Definitely be back there though for sushi anytime.

Food was good, service was good, we didn't wait too long for the food either. The cleanliness of the establishment on the other hand isn't great at all but doesn't make or break the experience. Really had a good meal I would recommend it (considering you like seafood)
Sarah Krawitz
Coming to this restaurant is an absolute treat. The sushi is so good and there are many unique dishes. It's hard to find dim sum in Johannesburg and not only do they have them, they have the most delicious ones too. Service is fantastic!
Kim Chi
The place is definitely rated wayyyy tooo high, keep seeing adverts so decided to go on a Saturday evening when you unsure what to order then Kaiten Sushi should be a good chose, but all I see on the Sushi belt was fashion sandwich and Salmon Roses keep rotating.. we can't expect anything else since the guy's were all busy making Sushi for take away, what is the point when the Kaiten Sushi belt has only 2 to 3 dishes to choose from? Next thing is seeing the chef washing the prawns squeezing out the water and laying them next to the basin... the only good dish was terriyaki beef but not the side dish as in the noodles were so hard and tasteless . Really disappointed
Aless
Yamitsuki is my food soul mate. I honestly cannot express how delicious the sushi is at this restaurant! All the ingredients are fresh and the sushi is made beautifully. All the sushi that I have tried her I love, but I absolutely adore their lemon deluxe roll.
Laura Stevens
Awesome fresh and innovative sushi. The Teppanyaki looked great to, will have to try on our next visit. My hubby just raved about the marshmallow and peanut butter milkshake
Hesti Botha
Due to the language barrier the staff comes a cross unpleasant but the freshness of the sushi makes up for it. Haven't yet found anywhere else better sushi. Great value for the portion sizes. Make sure you pop in for a sushi and aloe water take away.
Nishkalen Ramsunder
One of the best dining experiences to date, complimentary goodies while you wait for your mains, the waiters and chefs are excellent - amazing tasting food. The atmosphere is one of a kind, watching your food get prepared to perfection in front of your eyes is extremely rare with restaurants now days, as your food is prepared behind closed doors, I will definitely return to enjoy the amazing experience @Yamitsuki
Jeanique Pretorius
A favorite of mine. Delicious food, vibrant atmosphere, attentive staff.<br/>My son and I come here often and always have a good time, so much that the waiters know what I drink. I don't have to ask anymore. <br/>If anything, try the dim sums. They are Devine.
Yair Bisno
First time at Yamitsuki! Great sushi, specifically the vegetarian hand roll!! I was impressed with the approach by the chef; he gave complementary soups etc. The sit down around the flames was a great atmosphere. Still in search for the best sushi but I will give them that vegetarian hand roll!! šŸ˜
Nadz
So out comes this dessert.... Which sounded really good... Then I saw it had rice... And chocolate and strawberries ... And I thought ... OMG! :-(šŸ˜•šŸ¤”... Clearly I had not thought this through... But then I tasted it!!!! Holy cow!!! šŸ¾šŸ¬šŸšŸŒ  it was amazeballs!!!!! Simply fantastically orgasmic!!! And everything else was pretty damned fabulous too!!!! Loved it!!!
Terri Ogden
Such a wonderful evening welcomed with the tastiest complementary chicken soup and surrounded by the friendliest waiters and managers. The dim sum and sushi was top notch as always. Was completely warm and comfortable with a heater turned on right above me when I arrived. My wine glass was never left empty. The staff are absolutely fabulous and a pleasure to be around. Thank you for a wonderful and pleasant evening
Nathalie Van Der Merwe
Always a first choice for me when deciding where to go out for a quick bite during the week! The staff are always exceptional, the service great and the food outstanding! Will always be a loyal customer to this gem of a restaurant.
Saiyuri
What a great teppanyaki spot! Sitting around the grill while the chef prepares your food and you drink bottomless green tea is a perfect way to spend a winter's evening. <br/><br/>You are welcomed with some free starters such as a chicken and corn soup and dumplings. <br/><br/>We chose prawns and beef teppanyaki grills served with garlic fried rice. Go with the "yummy way" sauce- it is so delicious!! Everything is freshly prepared and generous portions. <br/><br/>We had Nutella crepes filled with strawberries and cream and inside out dessert sushi afterwards - rolling home with a happy filled tummy. What a great evening - definitely coming back for more!!! <br/><br/>
Janice Kelvin Leibowitz
Seriously unfair of you ... after a meal here, we'll definitely be back again and again, which means that lots of other places we've been meaning to try won't even get their chance!!! Amazing menu, delicious food, warm, friendly service and the complimentary soup was a lovely touch!! As for that triple Nutella dessert ... heaven on a plate!! Wow!! We loved everything about the place.
Heather Hook
Visited here a few weeks ago with a friend for dinner. Its quite small but packed with locals and very vibey. Being a total sushi addict, I really enjoyed the sushi menu, especially the Yummy Volcano - deep fried crab with spring onions and mayo - deliciousness!! They have the other usual suspects when it comes to sushi and the roses were fantastic. My friend enjoyed his Dim Sum immensely and I had a great miso soup to start. Apparently Yamitsuki introduced Johannesburg to its first sushi belt, as legend has it. We cannot thank them enough to be honest. Belt inside and tables on the verandah - great in summer. They also do Teppanyaki and have a noodle "bar" as well. Suggest making a reservation here.

Went here for the first time with my girlfriend this past Saturday evening and I must say we throughly enjoyed the experience šŸ˜ƒšŸ‘ŒšŸ» <br/><br/>The service from our waiter was excellent - He was often at our table to be of service but he was no means annoying. He got out orders spot on and the food arrived quickly from the kitchen šŸ‘šŸ»<br/><br/>Our meal consisted of chicken spring rolls, hand rolls, fashion sandwiches and maki šŸ±šŸ£šŸœ We also enjoyed several cups of 'bottomless' green tea šŸ˜šŸµ Which really warmed us up šŸ”„ They also served us with complimentary chicken soup upon arrival which I thought was a lovely gesture šŸ˜Š The outside area was covered and heaters were available to keep us warm deposit the chilly weather ā˜ƒ<br/><br/>The restaurant itself was at about 50% occupancy as I feel that not many people were keen to brave the cold for dinner that evening but the ambience was good nonetheless šŸ‘šŸ»<br/><br/>All in all the food was excellent, value for money (albeit pricey) but I can't wait to go back! šŸ˜ŽšŸ”™

Yamitsuki is great for a chilled night out. The complimentary sweet corn soup is delicious. The sushi is good with some lovely variations that change up the sushi game. My favorite is the dim sum!!! If you don't fancy sushi, they also serve teppanyaki. My favorite ritual after dinner at Yamitsuki is having a cappuccino and fortune cookie! Overall a good sushi hangout for a relaxed dinner out.
Lisa
I tried Yamitsuki a while back and was not blown away. But I decided to give it another try mmmm still don't understand the fuss. I feel they quite expensive and sushi is very average and dry unless you go for the options that are covered in sauce. Tried a bit of everything dim sum and fried dim sum (don't know the name and not on the menu posted on zamato).
Alex Vergos
I was served the wrong cultivar and returned my single glass of wine. I tasted it with the waitress. Just watched my returned glass of wine be poured back into the bottle at the bar by the barman! And the manager watched this disgusting act happen!
Lisa Gabriella Jasmine Strovall-Harf
This little sushi joint in Bedfordview is often bustling with sushi-lovers coming to get their fix!<br/>Their sushi is deliciously fresh, you can order off the menu or sit inside around the conveyor belt and take your pick! I enjoy the whole teppanyaki experience too where you can watch them fry up your hot dishes.<br/>I came here yesterday and as it was a beautiful day decided to sit outside. What is really special is as you sit down the waiters bring you a complimentary little lemon sorbet to start off your meal-I thought this was a nice touch!<br/>The service was decent. To eat I had some bamboo roll sushi (cucumber on outside and prawn tempura in middle) and the Miso Soup which I may add is BOTTOMLESS-YES!! My friend had the Teppanyaki-Prawn bowl, now if you are hungry I wouldn't suggest ordering this-I would rather go for the Teppanyaki main, as the bowl portion is quite small and only has 4 prawns.<br/><br/>Also just a heads up to those allergic/scared of bees, when we went yesterday and sat outside there was a severe bee issue, throughout our meal and drinks we where surrounded by them-the waiters did however bring a citronella candle to try scare them away-They were adamant to stay however.
Darren Baetu
Some of the best food I have ever eaten and definitely the best teppanyaki and Dim Sum in SA. Amazing service by the fantastic Eric and exceptional touches like lemon sorbet and fried Dim Sum on the house to wet your appetite. I could not fault them on a simple thing, well done guys, thanks for making it a great food journey and evening.
Moe Yahfoufi
I've been to Yamatsuki twice... The service was good, however the sushi is very mediocre, it lacks creativity and the taste is average... Value for money not very good... Their chopsticks are low quality.
Nic Catt
The sushi and teppanyaki is delicious and and we love their miso soup. Service is generally excellent, we have two favourite waiters. Prices aren't cheap unfortunately.
David Berry
Yamitsuki is one of those do-no-wrong places in my mind. <br/>There's always a special touch - like lemon sorbet before you start your meal for example - which makes them stick out in your memory.<br/>The staff are friendly and helpful and the food is served reasonably quickly.<br/>For something different sit at the teppanyaki bar and watch the chef's cook your food.<br/>On the dessert front, Lemon Snaps are delicious!
Martina Domenichini
I use to love Yamitsuki's food, but if you go on a Friday night and take away is really bad, not even the rice is well done... So sad....................
Dalene Cronje
Best sushi I've had. It's always fresh. Love the variety. End. Just go. <br/>Parking could be an issue on a busy night, but overall you'll find it hard to beat the quality of the sushi.
Bindia Bhana
Absolutely loved everything about this place. Its the first asian food restaurant ive seen that offers everything asian! From sushi to noodles to dimsum to traditional soups...you name it!Atmospher was amazing too since the chefs cook right in front of you, its amazing to see how telanted they are.
Kelly Martins
Absolutely amazing. Loved the dim sum! Some very cool and unique sushi. Well priced. Nice vibe. The giant fortune cookie was a bonus! Great service!
Bleedingears
Great sushi and dim sum menu. Normal conveyor belt system like YO SUSHI. The chocolate crepes for dessert are worth a try. Not the cheapest in town though.
Puleng
Such a chilled vibe with the most exquisite food. The perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon... the service is EVERYTHING. I like how u cn enjoy the music from next door (NewsCafe )
Jacqui Oeschger
What a great place! The best teppanyaki in Joburg and it's really fun watching the chef cook your food right in front of you. The sushi was fresh and delicious. I also had the best deep fried icecream I've ever had. Will definitely be back for more!
Linda Nel
Food was excellent. Need to fix aircon and I'll give you a 5 ā˜ŗ - too hot around the terayaki table without enough aircons. <br/>Also, ask the teriyaki chef to explain which dish he's cooking to the patrons.
Saaleha Bhamjee
As a long-time Yamitsuki patron, I can say with honesty that the sushi used to be even better. It's still good though. Exciting and unusual. In a world of mediocre or even sub-par overpriced sushi, that's welcome. It isn't cheap though, so come prepared
Kirst Talbot
Rolled out the restaurant after having thee yummiest sushi!! <br/>Strawberry and salmon fashion sandwiches are definitely a winner šŸ‘Œ <br/>Great atmosphere, friendly staff and worth the trip to Bedford!!
William Philip Cadman
The service has always been excellent here. However the sushi leaves a lot to be desired. The rice is inconsistent and often so stodgy you cannot discern an individual rice grain. So much of the offering on the conveyor belt is laced with sweet sauces or cheeses that none of the authentic textures or tastes of real sushi remain. For example the salmon roses are 90% rice and 10% salmon whereas the inverse should be the norm.
Big Fat Italian
The place that started my love affair with sushi, recently revamped and looking great. Service has always been good for what it is. Quality of food good and plenty variety, not the best sushi restaurant in Jhb but good overall. A little pricy if you hungry and you need to be patient or go early any day of the week as its always busy.
Jarrod Michael-Sylar Prinsloo-Bluth
I love this place!!! The sushi is amazing and is very unique! The service is great and the staff are very friendly. I just wish the restaurant was a little bigger :)
Italian_Chick
Our favourite family sushi spot! Sushi on the pricey side but it's always, always good. The service is friendly and efficient, even on the super busy Monday nights when you get 3 same coloured plates for the price of two special! Worth putting up with the busy buzz and slightly longer wait. #yamitsuki #favsushi
Reneilwe Letlonkane
Sushi is always good idea !!! Back to basics is boring , so I love my sushi exciting and addictive. Pointing to all creations as they emerge on the belt , "oohing"and "aaaahing" is how I expect my sushi feasts to be! Yamitsuki serves fresh, beautiful gems with the price you'd expect to pay for good raw fish šŸ˜‚ . I also had the dim sum, yum,so there is a variety of other dishes too. If you're not the president or somehow related, I recommend you reserve a table for table seats otherwise get there early for the sushi belt spot. Cheers, "feast upon your life"

Friends and I got together to have a teppanyaki experience and were told that this would be a winner. After making a reservation on a Thursday night, we got to the rather smart yet casual Yamitzuki. Service unfortunately was rather delayed and slow which dampened the evening. Expecting to also have a teppanyaki experience, we were disappointed to see that our food was not even cooked in front of us. That kinda defeated the purpose...<br/><br/>For starters I ordered a dim sum combo for one which was very good! Some of the best dim sum I have had in a long time! For mains I ordered the Prawn and Sirloin Teppanyaki with noodles. Although the prawns were average, the sirloin was done well done when I asked for medium. Also, the portion sizes do not justify the price. So the food was rather disappointing.Ā <br/><br/>Hoping that dessert would recover the experience, the lights cut and we were basically forced to leave. So dinner was eaten in the dark. Though I do not think it was their fault and they did bring (rather bright) lights to help us.<br/><br/>All in all, an average experience.
Raquel Calamas
We had the most amazing food and service by the incredibly talented big hearted Massy! We love her! Our date night was really special because of her attention to detail - thank you!
Carla Jade Nienaber
How delicious is this!?I can actually afford to crave sushi at work now, because I can have it delivered in no time, and made super fresh.Spring rolls and hand rolls are tops, and I love the ISO Strawberry & Salmon. What a treat :) :)
Samantha Nadasen
Went for dinner the last week. Was pretty disappointed. Yamitsuki use to be a bench mark for us. We would boast about the quality. Now that's not the case. Was a let down. But we've had worse. Hopefully things come right.
Danni Ozen
Had such a nice evening here and was pleasantly surprised by the whole experience. I liked the Asian inspired decoration and the service received was great.<br/><br/>The menu offered some different and interesting options. I tried the Spinach and cream cheese Dim Sum, Miso soup and the Sirloin Steak Teppanyaki Bowl.Ā All the food ordered was fantastic and had very niceĀ flavors.Ā <br/><br/>I will be returning soon to try the sushi.
Cassi Ozen
Very interesting sushi and dim sum restaurant. The sushi is served with their peri mayo which adds an interesting twist. The dim sum was incredible! Light and full of flavour! Great place for anyone keen to try something a little different to their normal sushi place.a little pricey but well worth it!
Ricardo Teixeira
Great atmosphere excellent service..<br/>Sushi is really good and very fresh, though their pricing is a bit much compared to others that are around.<br/>Menu has a wide variety to choose from.<br/>Good place for a quick lunch as well.
Christelle Wilson
We have always loved Yamitsuki. Recently, however, the prices have gone up quite a lot, but the sushi itself is disappointing. There are hardly any ' normal' or traditional plates on the conveyor. The sushi style of strawberries, cream cheese and deep fried sushi does not appeal to us. We often pop in for a quick meal, and we may not necessarily want to wait to order off the menu.
Mianda Van Niekerk
The atmosphere is awesome with some oldies playing the background. Staff is very friendly and well educated on the different plates -well done!! Had a seat at the sushi belt and absolutely loved it. The pieces are good sizes and worth the money. Would defenitely have a sushi night at Yamitsuki again. If you want exciting and yummy sushi, it's the place to go!
Sally Cole
Gem of Johannesburg-<br/><br/>I love the place; I must have my weekly visit to get my fix.<br/> After been a loyally customer for 3 years its still the best sushi in Johannesburg.
Annabel
Lovely Japanese Teppanyaki and their sushi great too. Very innovative. The sushi bar is your typical conveyor belt system, but you can order too. The Teppanyaki stools are not very comfortable but the food and service is great. Can get very busy so it's necessary to book.
Rose Marie Pereira
Best teppanyaki their prawn and steak combos are my favorite with chilli soy sauce I alway ask for garlic on mine for that extra burst of flavor! Always have fresh sushi, and love their chicken potstickers
Genevieve Law
Why has no one ever told me about this place?! I grew up in the east rand and I've often driven past but never taken notice... Probably because the outside area is nothing spectacular and the neon Newscafe next door draws all the attention! <br/><br/>We went on a Tuesday night. We booked prior to arriving and being not sure whether we wanted to sit inside out outdoors, they kindly reserved us a place for both. We chose indoors at the conveyor belt. Although small, everything is clean and well looked after. <br/><br/>To start off we were served complimentary lemon sorbet as a plate cleanser which was a nice little touch. <br/><br/>The sushi variety is extensive. Some of which I have never even seen before, yet everything seems authentic. On Tuesdays they have a pink plate night. The plates are capped at R35 and proceeds go to a good cause. <br/><br/>Service was great. Very attentive and they noticed when we wanted to order off the menu instead of take from the conveyor belt. <br/><br/>On top of all of this, the sushi was delicious. Will definitely be back to try the dim sum.
Leonie
Saturday night I called in to yamitsuki to place an order for delivery. I asked that my order please be checked before it left the shop to assure my rice isn't undercooked and has lots of flavor, the fact that i need to ask that the quality of my food to be checked to assure it is up to standard is my first concern,i then got told that they do not add sauce to their rice?? When i get my tippenyake meals from there the rice is always fried in sauce. I was further told that if i add sauce to my rice they will mess up my order(i was speechless) surely if a client asks for something the staff needs to be sure that it comes out correct and not assure them that the order will be incorrect. This was the manager taking my order.....second time i have cancelled an order due to rude staff.
John John
Not just sushiThis is a great spot, Im not sushi fan, however the wife and kids love the stuff so i was dragged here. To my pleasant surprise i find out that there is a lot more to this place than sushi, i had a beef burger and it was amazing, best i have had in JHB. There was also non asian dishes with fish and chicken, which looked great! Service great! Place great! people Great! I would highly recommend coming past this place, even if you not a sushi fan.
Ramasela Mokonyama
I had the home-made pansotti, fiery prawns, coriander pesto. The meal tasted great and I love the service they provided for my friend's and I.
Gina Bianca Ghisleni
One of my favourite sushi restaurants. I love how they experiment with different ingredients, flavours and textures. It makes for an interesting meal and sushi experience. Definitely the best variety and some of the best quality sushi in the East of Johannesburg.
Roland
A surprising little gem in bedfordview next to the news cafe. The decor is far from refined and seats can be found at a bar type setup. But the food is really delicious and reasonably priced. A great place if you feel like amazing Japanese take out, but feel like sitting down.
Courtney StarBerry
I have to start by saying that I cannot eat sushi, I have tried on many occasions but I just can't do it so any comments I have about the sushi is basically JĆ¼rgen's opinion.<br/>From the outside it really doesn't look like much (actually all the restaurants on this strip just look run down) but inside is so different. The dĆ©cor is simple and elegant and the white plates just make it seem so clean. We were seated on the marble table around the sushi belt and were offered a complimentary lemon sorbet that was perfect for such a hot day. <br/>We visited YamitsukiĀ on a Monday with the intention of having a small snack each but when we arrived we were delighted to find out that on Monday Yamitsuki has a 'any two same coloured plates for the price of one' sushi special which was amazing for JĆ¼rgen. He ended up having six plates of sushi for under R100-00! His only complaint is that it seemed a little dry (probably from being on the belt for a while). I had the spinach and cream cheese steamedĀ dumplings which were really flavourful and the starter portion of crispy calamari that initially looked really over-cooked but after actually trying itĀ it actually really worked. We also order the prawn tempura which was crisp and fresh. <br/>We can't wait to come back for 'two dim sum for the price of one' Wednesday!

So this morning P wanted to take me out for lunch- as a teeny weeny thank you for the ohotk shoot I did for her for her upcoming book cover. We were going to meet family for a family birthday in the afternoon but alas we needed to eat. The family called and asked if we wanted to join them at Yamitsuki. I have been wanting to go there for a while but I never dragged my butt there. My optometrist is literally two shops away from this store. Anyway we were greeted by a friendly Eric, who was our waitor. He led us to our table which was in front of the tepenyaki chef's cooking plate. He was very patient as I kept on changing my mains. P and I had chicken dumplings for starter which tasted awesome. We had a bit of sushi (the sushi special) , now I have been to a few places and I have been told that Yamitsuki is one of the best sushi places in Jozi but I jave to disagree. My local chinese store near my place makes nicer or rather fresher sushi, ok let me explain.... sushi is not just the fish, its the rice and the texture and overall taste and my local chinese store wins hands down. As far as creativity is concerned, Yamitsuki was tops. The rice didn't taste as fresh and felt like it had a bit of a crusty layer which means they left the rice in the open which was exposed to some air. <br/>Anyhow we ordered the tepenyaki bowl special.. I chose the chicken yummy sauce which came with a starch of your choice, I chose egg fried rice and P had some noodles. I must say my bowl tasted really great and the egg fried rice was absolutely amazing. I think that it is one of the best egg fried in jozi. Than desert, along came the desert chef who make our pancake with nutella sauce... each one of us ordered our own pancake and all you near a simultaneous hmmmmmmmmm... yes it was that scrumptious... thank you guys for an awesome lunch and well done on the great service
Chantelle Diane Sikic
Great sushi yet very expensive and they don't really offer any specials on weekends. But still a nice little spot, with a good atmosphere!!
Claudia Dantas
I often visit Yamitsuki for their great sushi and superb specials. <br/>Monday's are quite a treat! <br/><br/>My only qualm would be that sometimes the service is a bit slow. <br/><br/>I recommend the yummy rolls!
Keegan Meano
Awesome sushi and a very nice variety!! A bit pricey for the portion size but well worth it as it is very tasty and filling!! Nice vibe and the waiters are really friendly as well !! Will be going back soon!!
Zorka Vd Merwe
Love the place! Convenient location. The Teppanyaki bar is amazing. Delicious food, attentive service and so much fun. It's time for a visit!
Michael Powell
Consistently good sushi and a new revamped menu. They have traditional sushi, as well some really good fusion style sushi. For those who feel like something different, try the Dim Sum. You can't go wrong with the Yummy Pears.
Lucille Moodley
I absolutely love this restaurant. Their range of sushi is fantastic with the freshest quality ingredients. I also love their teppanyaki meals and their deep fried ice cream is to die for. The only downside is that it can be a bit pricey.
Sue Sopina
We have been eating here for many years as this is the best sushi restaurant in town.Ā  The sushi is always fresh and delicious, Yamitsuki is a must try restaurant as the food is consistently excellent.Ā  Dim sum's are spectacular with the best quality freshest ingredients used and the service is relaxed but attentive and efficient.Ā  The menu is new and innovative with a delicious meaty burger dripping in sauce for a non-sushi lover.Ā  We are never disappointed and can highly recommend this incredible place.
Tayla
Went here as a spur of the moment for lunch with a friend, the staff were friendly and helped out when needed, although an explanation of the specials weren't totally clear. My friend had their Japanese curry and had it extra hot, and I had a selection of sushi, dim sum and tempura, as someone who has never had tempura or dim sum it was relatively different, but strangely good. Definitely will be back.
Chantel
Situated in Bedfordview it always concerns me how good the good will be but over the years we often go to Yamitsuki. <br/><br/>The sushi is great. I am always intrigued by the new innovative spin on sushi they experiment with! <br/><br/>This week it was pink rice for the fashion sandwiches . As I am not a fan of fashion sandwiches I did not try it. <br/><br/>The best gunkans are served here. Truly great tempura and the chicken yakitori is tender and juicy. <br/>Good size and quality spring rolls. <br/><br/>Monday nights tend to be too busy . The prices are not cheap but if you eat there on a week day while they have a special on then it is worth it. <br/><br/>I really like the new face lift it has received clean lines and modern .

I just seem to be disappointed every time I go here for a bite to eat! <br/><br/>The sushi is good, and it's nice because you can ask the chefs to make it anyway you want, but it's nothing incredible. <br/><br/>The service is consistently bad, it takes forever to actually get served and for the waiter to come back to your table after you have ordered takes even longer. <br/>Worst of all, almost every time they have got my order wrong, which for me is the killer. <br/>Nothing special with bad service.

Lovely evening spent with my sister at Yamistuki Bedfordview. Firstly the place is clean and very modern Asian decorated. They have two sections- a dim sum bar and sushi bar. They menu offers great variety from starters to dessert for a speciality cuisine. We were adventurous and tried Japanese Pizza and Fried Ice-Cream for the first time. Lovely venue for small private functions. Great Sushi and Dim Sum. Best part is that they have a special for everyday so you don't have to break the budget. Overall great food, great service..

Looking for some Asian flavor do come to Yamitsuki, their sushi never disappoints. Traditional sushi as well as some modern flavours have been added to the menu.<br/>Try their noodles, curry or tepenyaki bar.

Some of the best sushi I've had! The service is excellent and prices are great! There are constantly new additions to the menu which makes each visit something unique. If you haven't tried it, go for it!

Sadly, I had to update my review as I tried the vegetable and prawn tempura along with the usual sweet&sour chicken take out. I found a meager 2 pieces of prawns for R46. I phoned the restaurant and they confirmed this is standard. That is ridiculous! R23 per prawn!?!!! The sweet and sour is still delicious with good balance of flavours, but seeing that the vegetable tempura came with 8 pieces and was half the price- they could do better!

Considering Iā€™m the only Japanese person that 90% of my friends know personally (your Tamagotchi donā€™t count), I often get asked where one should go for sushi. This is generally a pretty easy question for me to answer since there are only a handful of places that I consider worth a damn. In Cape Town, I hit up Minato, Fuijyumi, Willoughbyā€™s and Beluga makes decent sushi. In Joburg, Iā€™ve struggled to find a good place besides Yamato in Illovo. I kept passing Yamitsuki in Bedfordview on my way to the gym and saw they had kaiten-zuzhi which, for you white folk (and by white, I mean every colour except yellow) is sushi on a circular conveyor belt. Iā€™ve always been a fan of the system and it just reminds me of being a young Jap on the come up back in the Motherland. I pushed the normal thoughts of doubt that accompany any sushi trip in Joburg aside and grabbed a seat and watched as multi coloured plates of sushi came in and out of my life.<br/><br/>The first thing I did was check the menu to see what type of Asian was actually running this spot. This is generally an easy exercise. A true Japanese restaurant is sticking to Japanese cuisine and this is noticeable on the menu outside of sushi. If you see Chinese food on the menu, its run by Chinese. If you see Thai food on the menu, then its run by Thai. Despite having Thai dishes, it had a pretty extensive Japanese menu including staples of Japanese cuisine such as Japanese Curry (hated it growing up, still not a fan, but its existence makes me smile) and Okonomiyaki (Often referred to as ā€œJapanese Pizzaā€. As a kid, I used to think my Pops was making it up to trick me into liking it, but its legit. More of a pancake than a pizza thoughā€¦). While this dishes are as common as friend chicken in Japan, its pretty obscure to have it here. The owner of this restaurant either spent a good amount of time in Japan or married one.<br/><br/>As much as I wanted gyoza and edamame, we decided to start off with a seaweed and daikon salad. Yaā€™ll have know idea how much I love daikon (a sort of Japanese radish) so I was beyond disappointed when the seaweed came out on a limp bed of lettuce. I was informed that the restaurant currently did not have daikon, so never known as a spilt milk cryer, I went at the seaweed. It was a great start to the meal with the seaweed being well marinated in sesame oil and soy sauce. There are two thing that make me feel instantly healthier (psychologically at least), grapefruits and seaweed, so after the appetiser I was feeling like a Yellow Swarzenager.<br/><br/>Growing up, my Pops used to give me miso soup every morning for breakfast so I always hook it up when I see it on the menu. Yamitsuki makes a nice basic miso soup which is usually the best kind since sometimes, other Asians will try and complicate it by throwing in egg or corn. A good miso soup should only have tofu, seaweed, and onion floating around in there.<br/><br/>I liked that all of Yamitsukiā€™s sushi chefs were Black. While Iā€™m grateful that between Kenny Kuenene putting sushi on to the masses and Simply Asia being at every mall which keeps Asian (mostly Chinese) unemployment below national levels, it actually adds no authenticity (besides aesthetic) to the sushi. Chinese have as much ties to sushi as a South African so why not let a brotha roll some raw fish.<br/><br/>I donā€™t get too fancy on my sushi selection. I generally stick to sashimi and nigiri while leaving the fashion sandwiches for the white folk in Camps Bay. The 2 main things I assess when eating sushi are the following:<br/><br/>1. Freshness of the fish<br/><br/>2. Texture and vinegar content of the rice<br/><br/>The freshness of the fish is key for obvious reasons. The sushi should never smell fishy and should taste good on its own irrespective of what it comes with.<br/><br/>The texture of the rice is important. It should be sticky and soft, but never mushy. The vinegar content is also important as too much can leave the taste overwhelming and detract for the fish.<br/><br/>Yamitsuki came correct on both aspects. I would still rank it below Yamato in terms of overall quality, but above just about every other sushi restaurant in the area. I also really appreciate that outside of sushi, they offer affordable authentic Japanese cuisine on the menu. I also love that you can get Asahi beer. In fact the only noticeable missing item from the menu was Green Tea Ice Cream. In the end, Yamitsuki gets the official Mans From Japans co-sign. <br/><br/>

One of the better sushi spots in Joburg. Good food at good prices and definitely worth popping past if you're in the area. Staff not very helpful but that doesn't change the taste of food

I don't mind paying more for good food with high quality. The sushi is good<br/>and of a high standard. The sushi bar is amazing. I love the street vibe and<br/>location. There is always a buzz. Try it out試恗恦ćæ悋

Not the most convenient location for me, but so worth the travel! As a sushi looooooover it is the best! <br/>If you are looking for quality sushi and up to trying new things, Yamitsuki is the place to go.
Ramiro Robalo
The Sushi at Yamatsuki is good and due to the specials the run and the convenient location i tend to frequent here. My only concern is that the service here is always a little slow. Plenty of waiters always standing at the door but never around when we need something.Ā <br/>The trip here is however well worth it as their itamae (sushi chefs) are very good.
Becky Smith
The service wasn't that great but the variety on the menu was awesome. There aren't many dim sum restaurant available on the east rand unless you go into China town. <br/>The noodles and sushi were excellent!
Daniellecollier24
It could be that their regular chef was off being a Sunday but we were very disappointed. I ordered a calamari stir fry and got a big lump of noodles with maybe 5 calamari pieces and 5 slivers of pepper, possibly 3 little marrow slices and the taste of braai. Service was good though.

Sushi was incredible. I died and went to sushi heaven . Had another piece and died again. ??? Do yourself a favour, put your phone down, get in your car , and drive to yamitsuki. Now. Service was a bit slow unfortunately .. Other than that it was amaze ?

Enjoy taking my little one here when she asks for sushi. It's not my favourite sushi but I like the specials and the options in have beyond the sushi. The teppanyaki is always a fun experience and we enjoyed it very much. Wish the dumplings had more filling or flavour and the meat was a bit salty but perhaps I will try a different sauce next time. The variety of sushi is huge but I am quite traditional and have discovered I don't really like strawberries and cream cheese wrapped in rice. It is not a combination I enjoy but other patrons seem to love it. I like how he restaurant is split between the teppanyaki side and the sushi side with some seats outdoors. Still a solid favourite for us to come to.

The food is consistently good here! Some of the tables are around the cooling stations which is awesome you can watch your food being made. The terriyaki kingklip is a must and for dessert the Nutella pancake is to die for ?
Nadia Young
Best sushi ever! The chefs are friendly and the food is always fresh. #Lovesushi Always receive excellent service, and I drive 92km to come and eat here.

Sushi was really tastey! Nice atmosphere and vibe with good service. All all in all a good night out. However, tad pricey for what you receive.
Michelle
Decor is average and dusty<br/>Used to go there often until the last encounter.<br/>Was on a Sunday and sat at a table by the till.<br/>Service was shocking and totally disinterested.<br/>We sent back two items due to not being fresh and yet we were still billed for them.<br/>Never will we return.
Kimberley Blunden
The sushi here is absolutely amazing and they make it to perfection every time ! The ONLY, ONLY downfall, is that it can get quite pricey but it is so worth it !
Candace Gloag
My boyfriend and I absolutely love date night spent at Yamitsuki! We love their twist on traditional sushi and their creative new ideas. Their dessert sushi is quite something. It can get a little pricey if you arrive hungry but we both agree it's worth every penny. Yamitsuki presents a stunning vibe and great service. Parking on busy nights can be a little bit of a problem though. We highly recommend you try their joint teppanyaki venture next door.

Definitely best sushi in Johannesburg.... Yamitsuki has never disappointed me... Salmon roses my favorite.... Oh yes try their fried ice-cream.... Delicious

Lovely sushi restaurant. Wide variety of sushi and the restaurant has a great ambience to it. The chicken noodles are great too. The staff are very friendly.

The sushi is good, the service however is terrible. Eventually cancelled my order since they took FOREVER......................<br/>@ yamitsuki
Brett Perlstein
Amazing teppenyaki which is hard to find in JHB. Expertly executed in front of your eyes. I"d Highly recommend. It's well worth a visit. The fillet steak and chicken were excellent and tons on interesting sauce varieties to choose from.
Kelsey Spykerman
Yummy, best sushi ever this place is wonderful! and the waitress Sasha is so friendly.<br/>The best dim sums were the spinach ones.<br/>There is an outside area and two seprate inside areas one being sushi the other being chinese. Lovely dinner but can get pricey<br/>
Andrew
This sushi place is good.. The sashimi is always fresh and the sushi is good at times. The service we get is always friendly and the waitress' are always on hand to help you with anything you need. The Monday special where you buy 2 and get 1 free is always a treat for us. They always also seem to have something new on the conveyor belt, so there is defiantly a lot of variety to choose from. It's a pity they got rid of the, every second Sunday sushi buffet special as we use to make special trips there.. Prices seem to be a bit on the expensive side as well compared to the other Japanese restaurants I been to. All in all good service with good sushi and fresh sashimi means you can't go wrong. I do have to try the teppanyaki next time I go tho.
Catherine Au
I only go to this little place on a Monday as they have a special for 3 for 2 on. It's still pretty pricey with the special. But fish is fresh And they are decent size sashimi slices. Sushi is good. The rice was awesome tonight, sandwich did not fall to pieces when I bite into it! It held it's form, and when sushi is dipped into the soy sauce, the rice didn't fall apart, which means that the rice was done nicely! The hand rolls are well done, ingredients are filled right to the bottom! I enjoyed it very much. Service was pretty good, i love my green tea to match with sushi, and it is bottomless. The waitress topped us up just when we finished with ours. I think it's nice to have once in a while considering the price.

Really impressed with the tepanyaki, noodles and curry, but still not the sushi. (Updated version - 25/11/2014)<br/><br/>The service is very friendly and efficient, the staff is always smiling and very willing to help. Moreover, we were given complementary chicken dumplings (2 per person of it!) and lemon sorbet to freshen up the palates.Ā <br/><br/>We had the chicken & sirloin tepanyaki combo, which comes with bottomless green tea, veggies and a choice of starch. The chicken is amazingly soft and flavourful with the teriyaki sauce, but the steak was too tough. The curry and noodles come with a lot of different combinations of noodle, style, sauce, and hot options. We had the red vegetable thai curry and thai stir fry noodles, both were very delicious and a big portion for the price. For my super traditional Asian parents to agree on any Asian food, it's an amazing congratulations for the restaurant. However, the salmon platter that we had is still very average, the rice is loose and not sticking together like how it should for sushi.Ā <br/><br/>Bottomline: Definitely go back for the tepanyaki and other dishes, but if we happen to want sushi then probably :)<br/><br/>---------<br/>Nope - sashimi yes but not the sushi. (This review is on the Sushi alone, but I promise I'll go back to try the Tepanyaki though!)<br/><br/>I admit, I'm very pedantic with sushi rice - but it is 80% of the dish so if it's not done right then it really doesn't complement the fresh sashimi that comes with. The rice is too chewy, and has slightly undercooked bits in between. The sashimi is quite fresh, but the slices are a bit on the thinner side.Ā <br/><br/>That said, the service is pretty good. They are really busy on a Friday night, but the conveyor belt is always filled with new things and we ordered a platter that also came really quickly. Even though the miso soup isn't spectacular, being bottomless at R25 does give it bonus points. They also have a really wide range, things that you don't really see often. Novelty, but personally I think the taste doesn't complement well together.<br/><br/>Bottomline: No for Sushi, plenty of better and more authentic places out there.Ā <br/><br/>Pros: A wide range, good service,Ā <br/>Cons: The rice is wrong, overpriced for the quality of sushi

The decor is alright. The atmosphere is great. <br/><br/>Food is amazing, the sushi is a must try. They always surprise me with their new and innovative sushi. <br/><br/>Service is pretty good, no complaints in that department. Would definitely recommend to dine there. Perfect place for a date.

Great little Sushi / Japanese joint tucked away in Bedfordview. Great quality / price ratio. The dimsums were delicious, the veggie rolls also great. My wife loved the sashimi (with toasted sesame), apparently the best she's had in a long time. It was a pleasant evening so we enjoyed the outdoor terrace. Bottomless green tea is a plus, service was fantatic. Closes a bit early on Sunday nights so get there early. Cheers!

Meal for two Salmon Teriyaki and Seafood prawns. Salmon was fresh and tasty and done just right with the special Sauce. Prawns were cooked to a point were one could eat them whole without peeling them. On the side there was a mayo sauce and a sweet chili coriander. <br/><br/>Desert was decidedly elected to have the inclusion of banana along with the strawberry and chocolate in the pancake which could have been soaked in sugar cause they were a bit too tart. So take your own banana.<br/><br/>The drink is always a pomegranate aloe.

First time that I've been to Yamitsuki and it's by far the best Sushi I've had in Joburg :-)

Delicious Kingklip meal. The top choice is their sailor boat sushi which is so original and cute. Have a look when you get to this place and order the boat. Its a real a real treat.

I have been going to Yamasaki for many years now. The sushi is always great and they always seem to be trying new ideas and recipes for their sushi.Monday night buy 2 plates get the 3rd free special are great value and the well stocked conveyor proves helpful if your looking for a quick bite on the run <br/>I Was however not very impressed with the tepanyaki section though. Chicken was overcooked and there was very little atmosphere in the area. the chef had little to no showmanship and felt a bit 'cattle classed'<br/><br/>Excellent attentive service at all times from the waiters and has a small outside area with limited seating on the sidewalk

Best sushi in Johannesburg by far! Great service, friendly staff and cool atmosphere.

Whether you feel like sushi, dim sum, or tappenyaki, Yamitsuki is the place for you. They have the Most amazing sushi in South Africa! It is always fresh and delicious! Their dim sums are tastey and cooked to perfection and their spring rolls are deliciously crispy too :) Try their green tea mojitos if you feel like a refreshing drink :) also their desserts are the best! Try their Nutella pancakes or Nutella wontons!

Best sushi in Bedfordview hands down! If you ordering takeaways always add an extra 20 minutes on as they will surely make you wait.

We decided to try out Yamitsuki Sushi and Teppanyaki bar based on a recommendation from a friend. <br/><br/>Parking is always an issue in that district. We were fortunate to have found a spot on the side of the road, which was quite close to the restaurant. If you're in fear of having your car scratched, not the best places to park off an exotic!<br/><br/>The restaurant is conveniently divided into two. The one section serves Teppanyaki, and the other, smaller section serves sushi, with the conveyor belt located in the middle of the store. <br/>There is very limited seating, i doubt a decent spot would be availble on a busy evening.<br/>We were the only patrons on the Saturday afternoon that we decided to go, and service, probably because of this was exceptional. The waiter was welcoming, helped us make a good seleciton, and was pleasant with our kids. He even drew chairs for them to stand and watch the fish in the tank at the entrance.<br/><br/>The sushi itself is lovely. An impressive selection with unusual varieties. Expect to find your sushi wrapped in strawberry! If you're ok with that, this is a sushi hot-spot!<br/>The sushi is beautifully plated. The platters are large, and i particularly like the way the wasabi comes piped onto the little side-plates.<br/><br/>Expect to pay R210 for a 22 piece portion. My husband still felt hungry, and ordered a smaller, a bit more limited portion and paid R105 for his. I like the touch of the chocolate covered fortune cookie when ordering coffee, their brand of choice is Illy. <br/><br/>I would return because of convenience - no parking lot, shopping malls - direct access in and out. The limited seating can be a problem if we go at a busier time, but their take-away specials might have to do. All in all, a pleasant experience.

I have been going to Yamitsuki for many many years and their food is always of top quality standards! The waiters are always helpful and friendly, which makes the experience an enjoyable one. The variety that is on offer is world class and the standard of sushi is the best.I will never ever eat sushi anywhere else

This is another Japanese cuisine favorite of mine. Initially, went there for the sushi which is extremely good; beautiful presentation with a great variety on the conveyor belt in the left part of the restaurant. The restaurant is split in two, it almost looks like two separate restaurants. The right part of the restaurant is not as popular probably because there isn't a sushi chef there to impress with his culinary skills, but the setting there is very interesting. <br/><br/>Seating is also arranged on the sidewalk and in winter, canvas sails are dropped to keep the heat produced from gas heaters, in. Normally, I don't go for sidewalk seating since beggars make a nuisance of themselves but here I have yet to experience that irritation. The reason might be the proximity of Bedford View Police Station which is just across the street, an added bonus.<br/><br/>Again the Teriyaki Salmon is a winner with some very tasty vegetables as a side serving all arranged on some very funky plates, though the food just about fits on the plate, so eat carefully, because you will want to have it all. Some tasty sauces accompany the meal. <br/><br/>The restaurant is frequented by a great variety of people, I often hear business being concluded here and being in Bedford View's main road it's always busy and quite vibey. News Cafe next door often provides live entertainment in the form of a house music DJ that mixes almost on the street, so if an influx of vibrant young people enjoying the atmosphere is your thing you'll enjoy the added benefits of dining at Yamitsuki.
