We went there for lunch during a longer drive. The place offers a nice terasse with view on the mountains. We had three different options on food and they were all great and handmade. The iced coffee was also very nice

So ...it may be a little rustic...but the staff are awesome and accommodating, the view over the koi dam is beautiful, weavers singing in the trees ...and the apple crumble delectable, cheesecake incredibly good too ! So be daring and dive off the R62 ... explore and live a little! You won't regret it

Stopped here for food to break up a long journey. I had the chicken mayo sandwich and Turkish delight milkshake, the bread is homemade and the milkshake was unreal. Salad was lovely too. Iced coffee also had coffee ice cubes which is such a smart idea. Views were lovely too. Staff are very kind

First stopped for a quick coffee before an appointment elsewhere and succumbed to the cheesecake...sublime! I told Hanette that she'll get 3rd place out of about 1000 for that Cheesecake! After my appointment I returned for a late lunch, and enjoyed the Famous Chicken Cheesecake with Mushroom sauce. Wonderful!!

I don't often leave reviews, however we stopped at the Blue Cow cafe, and I felt I wanted to pass on the recommendation to stop here and try their apple pie - it really is the best I've ever had and when asking their story heard all about their inspiring approach to cooking and client service - recommend doing the same.

One of the best cheesecakes I've had in a long while, worth travelling across the continent for. The owner even offered to give me the recipe, but some secrets are better kept so that I have an excuse to come back again soon.

Arrived and immediately served by a delightful lady who showed us to a table outside and away from the heat of the day. Automatically received a large just of ice water which was really appreciated as it was scorcher of a day. I order the turkish delight milkshake, I was stunned when it arrived as it was spectacular. The flavour was Incredible and was probably the best milkshake I've ever had throughout all my travels. Very interesting little shopping section to look though what waiting the short time for your "highly recommended" milk shake to arrive. There are plenty of other dishes as well. Excellent service, good prices and well worth a side visit if passing through the area. I still dream of that milkshake. Will be back!!

'Our milkshakes bring all the cows to the bar" written on the chalkboard. Yes! They do. A small coffee and curio shop on a farm overlooking a snall dam and serving simple fare and wonderful milkshakes.

This was a true highlight of our trip. The host was fantastic. We sat on the deck and spoke for hours with her. Even though we didn't sleep over, we are sure to come back to visit. FYI The dessert was amazing. It has a fantastic view of the lake.. If you are in Barrydale, please make a visit.

Great little place to have coffee and a lot nicer than being along the main road with their view over a lily pond Lovely iced coffee (coffee ice cubes never seen done before) and great milkshakes

Quaint little coffee shop with awesome view over a dam and a working farm. We stopped here for a hot chocolate and had fresh cheesecake and apple pie which was delicious! Wonderful experience watching the birds building nests in the trees overhanging the dam and little ducks diving for fish. Very highly recommend a stop here for a light meal or treat.

The Blue Cow is a short drive off the main road in Barrydale. We arrived at the Blue Cow at lunchtime and we were greeted by the owner as we walked into the small restaurant. We sat on the patio outside and because there was a chilly wind blowing, we were kindly supplied with a few light orange blankets to throw over our shoulders. Milkshakes were great and coffee arrived in a French press, and for lunch we had ham and cheese toasted sandwiches, full breakfasts and a delicious butternut soup - my wife really wants that recipe! The food was excellent all round! There is also a small corner of the restaurant dedicated to a few jars of homemade items, we additionally bought a jar of homemade fig jam. A welcoming, friendly and lovely lunch.
