Great service--friendly staff and they politely allowed us to make simple changes to a set item on the menu-- simply loved the cranberry cooler juice wish it came in bigger size--Food was beautiful 😋 😋 😋

This was one of the best meals I've ever had

We dropped in on Monday to get some sushi for my son's birthday. It was before 11 and we were told they only open at 11:30. After a conversation with the manager, we were able to get our take away sushi. The sushi was really good and my son enjoyed it! And because he enjoyed it, was the saving grace for the rating. It's usually hit and miss with this branch... sometimes excellent, other times not so much. But they're our closest halaal branch.

Eric from Ghana served us and he was an excellent waiter. The food was as good as can be expected, especially the sushi. Plus we didn't have to wait long for our food. The only complaint was that the drinks were very sweet and we had to add alot of water. Otherwise it's a place I'll definitely recommend.

Firstly I’d love to say Shukran to the staff especially to “Hakeem” he was the best waiter ever immediately when he saw us he came running and seated us , gave our menu and waited until we ordered ☺️. We got the usual starter bread and cold ice water as asked , our cranberry juice was cold and devine we even took our leftover juice home😍 . We ordered the biggest platter and extra mussels it arrived so so fast !! Everything was warm ,soft and full of sauce 😋😋 nothing can beat vangate ocean basket 🤤. Service was excellent and gave a good tip 😉 If you want to spoil your parents this is the place to go 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻Will be back soon 👌

I was happy with the food and service.

Came here last year in April. Ordered a platter for two. Don't have any complaints about the food. Our waiter was a hard man to get hold of though. Need to work on that. Other than that I won't know.

Service great. Food is so so. I had better at other OB Rolls were hard in the middle.

Good food. Quality is decent. Service could do with an upgrade.

Anticipated a great evening of fish and chips to celebrate OB's birthday. With that being said I was aware of the fact that the place will be packed and certain things might have been lacking. The treatment and service tonight was by far the worst received.<br/><br/>Waiter taking long to take orders, not writing anything down so we prepared for the fact that he will mess it up... Succeeded in doing just that... Wrong orders, cold food and to top it off a nice hair in one platter ordered. At this point our waiter had deserted us.... And at this point we decided to walk out...

Love this place so much , every portion is just one great bite after the other . I think what brings me back every time is the explosion that happens in your mouth when the amazing flavors of the seafood and the incredible garlic lemony butter sauce mixed with the fresh chips all comes together and takes you to that special place 😍 really a winner for me

Horrible food, nothing fresh. Asked for tempura sushi and was lied to about it being fresh even though the tempura was ice cold and mushy😷 too much salt on prawns calamari like rubber fish, mushy chips like cardboard definitely reheated 😷😷😷yuck

Was actually hoping to find Mitchell's Plain's branch but no luck. However, I've been here twice and the fiesta time around, their food was amazing however, the second time around the food was horrid. It was cold and not to mention the dirty fork and table. Was completely put off by everything. Definitely will my go there again. <br/>

The ONLY halaal Ocean Basket in the Western Cape... Which is the main reason we go there. They're also the only Ocean Basket that offers "Masala Flavour". <br/><br/>I'm not a fan of Ocean Basket with their dry tasteless chips and squigglies or their rubber-mari but, the Masala flavoured prawns and fish and the sauce that the mussles come with make it worth the trip every now and then. I wish they were located somewhere more scenic though. I don't blame them, their market doesn't buy food often enough to make thw move feasible. They'd need to sell alcohol for that

Not a restaurant chain I frequent often but I thought why not. This branch is by far the worst one. The food lacked flavor but service was really good and prompt. I will not be returning to this branch.

I was in Ocean Basket Vangate mall with family....Soon the waiter arrived and seemed genuinely interested in us and taking our orders. We ordered platters and we waited. Soon after our food arrived, I noticed it was not warm to my liking. I asked if the waiter could please reheat, surprised he just stood there and looked at me and then the food and stared at it like I had just said something illegal.... So after a long while later the food comes back reheated but this time the squid was dry and tough to chew, the chips was not cooked through and the separate order of rice was also not done properly I would have preferred just eating it cold... Now have you ever sat in a restaurant been so hungry that you just don't care about the order anymore!!......having felt this way I ate what I could. I called the waiter to inform him that the food was overcooked this time and all he did was apologise and walked away . I didn't even bother wasting my time because I knew I would get some explanation as to why food is this and that... ..honestly before I frequented this restaurant I had some doubts but decided to try it out ....but eating out here has confirmed my doubts about this restaurants poor standards and general lack of quality of the food.

Other than ocean basket in Camps Bay I think this is the next best one. I always have a very pleasant time at these 2 outlets, excellent service and very fresh food always. Keep up the excellent service.

With this being the only fully halaal ocean basket in capetown its obvious most of my family members would frequent the place. Although not my favourite branch they do serve up the good quality you would expect from the franchise and the sushi is actually not bad. Service is good. I love that the manager is always at hand and makes sure the tables are happy and seen to.
