Easy cycle from the Arniston Spa Hotel (with their complimentary bicycles) to Wanda's Waenhuis Restaurant, with spectacular views of the Kassiesbaai Fishersmen's village.
We had a delicious chicken liver starter, with a huge seafood variety platter - possibly the best the Western Cape can offer. Thanks Wanda - our dinner was great ! ... and the 3km cycle back to the hotel in pitch-dark starlight ended our evening perfectly.
Wanda is a wonderful host and was a gracious host. He foot was delicious and cooked with love. A very special experience and highly recommended on any visit to Arniston.
What a gem! The food was seriously good and Wanda such an incredible and warm host. If you want good seafood and to be well looked after this is the place to be. Don't expect crisp white table clothes and mood music or wine. This is home style cooking in a costal rustic setting. I have zero doubt that I will be back!
It was a very nice experience where Wanda welcomed us warm and whole heartedly! A very sweet hostess and the food was good too! Many thanks Wanda!
One of the local restaurants in Kassiesbaai, Arniston. Beautiful owner and great food. One of those small little gems tucked away in our beautiful country.
Relaxed atmosphere, great food, excellent service!
We came here for dinner on an out-of-season Saturday night.
The restaurant has a charming and very relaxed atmosphere. The host (Wanda) provided excellent service throughout the evening. It's not everyday you get service this good from the owner herself.
She even got her son to walk with us back to the hotel to ensure we don't get lost!
The menu changes from day to day depending on availability of ingredients. But includes starters (soup, seafood) and mains with mostly seafood, but also other meat dishes or any combination you like.
The line fish is the star of the show however. Caught daily by the owner's husband, it is fresh, grilled to perfection and served with freshly baked bread, rice/fries, seasonal vegetables and the most amazing caramelised sweet potato!
A great experience in this small and sleepy seaside village!
Some tips:
Drop ins are welcome, but the owner prefer if you book ahead. Tables fill up quickly during peak season.
No wine are sold at the restaurant. You are welcome to bring your own at no extra fee.
Only payment method is cash.
The restaurant is easy walking distance from most hotels in Arniston, but there are no street lights, so it can be very dark when walking back. Bring a flashlight or alternatively go by car.
What a wonderful experience. Wanda is charismatic, entertaining and her food is absolutely delicious. I would recommend her restaurant to anyone looking for an authentic Arniston experience. Thank you Wanda, you are truly a breath of fresh air and your Resturant was an incredible experience!
Really good service and excellent food. Would highly recommend the seafood. Really nice local food.
Wow. Thank you Wanda for an amazing sea food platter. Top class
Small and quiet, good food, did not have a liquor licence so we brought our own wine along and they didn't mind at all. The staff were very friendly, it is a tiny restaurant so perfect for intimate lunches or dinner.
We had the most unbelievable meal at Wandas. The seafood was exceptional, having tried the local line fish, calamari and mussels, Wandas is easily one of the best seafood restaurants. Highly recommend a visit when in Arniston.
The best restaurant in town, great service, food and very welcoming host
Had a nice home cooked meal. Very friendly owner.
What fantastic food, calamari melts in your mouth, the line fish straight from the ocean and those sweet potatoes!!!! Couldn’t even make the prawns, but that’s for next time.
Had an amazing meal at Wanda's, extremely welcoming and friendly. Just remember to take cash as they don't take cards.
Nice tea and scones to support the locals.
I've eaten at Wanda's several times - always so awesome. Best food ever
