Review A Churrasqueira - Alberton

We don't live near Alberton at all and it was recommended by friends. We decided to try it since we were coming from Vereeniging. We were very pleased with the food and the AWESOME service from our waiter. Due to the amount of food we ordered and we wanted it at the same time, he moved us to a bigger table to accommodate that and he brought me an extra takeaway box for some leftover breads that I wanted for my dogs. As for the food, it was proper authentic Portuguese taste and flavours. For starters, we ordered giblets, clams and tripe. It was so delicious that I was drinking the sauces. For mains, we ordered the crab curry, the espetada and rabbit. It was just as good and they made a yummy white sauce for their vegetables servings (not your typical roasted veggies or butternut/creamed spinach). The beef espetada had a buttery, smoked marinade on it and they cooked to our perfection (medium rare) My husband enjoyed the traditional Portuguese dessert, molotof, I had a dom pedro and my son had the Ola Magnum Almond ice-cream which the waiter put on a plate with a serviette which it was a nice touch. Overall, a good meal and we will definitely return. The only expensive meal on our bill was the crab curry which is very normal to pay for shellfish.

A lovely lunch with the family. It was our first time there. I must say it was refreshing to have a comfy couch outside to have a smoke at instead of the usual set ups at restaurants where one feels like a leper for smoking. I loved that.

Amazing setting with the convenience of outdoor or indoor tables and seats. Enough to keep kids entertained the entire time and if you dont have kids.. the option is there to just sit on one of the super comfy couches and enjoy the lovely food and assortment of cocktails.

Been in Alberton since 2018 and first time here. What a hidden jewel. Everything is lovely. Food, service, play area, desserts. Pity it only opens at 12h00. Recommend you book to prevent disappointment. We loved it

Stunning place to take the entire family for delicious, generous food and an incredible playground that will keep children of ALL ages entertained for hours while you have time to catch up with friends and enjoy a well deserved glass of wine. This hidden little gems is definitely worth a visit!

This is such an awesome restaurant. Absolutely the best for family, friends and groups. Huge play area and extremely spacious. The service was great and the staff is friendly and very welcoming. They have a great menu, affordable and the portions are large and definitely worth it.

I look forward to visiting A Churrasqueira at their new premises in Newmarket Alberton. They have always been a firm favorite with us. Then on Sunday, we arrived to a full house! We were seated in a few minutes, the service was great and the food even better! We're back here again. The food is better than ever. Our favorite restaurant.

New venue but has been going for decades with tried and tested Portuguese menu. New premises very child friendly with many activities and menu reasonably priced. We enjoyed our afternoon here. Owner run service was above average.

The service was out of the world. The staff is very friendly and the place if filled with really nice people. It was my first time and I wouldnt mind going again and again and again. Oh and the food, yum yum.

Lovely food, lovely vibe. It's the first time I've been to this restaurant since they moved. I had the tripe and my husband had the paella. Both dishes were delicious. I highly recommend it. Milo fritos was also yummy, just a tad on the spicy side. I just wish they had more traditional Portugese dishes.

By far one of the best family restaurants around. They have an amazing play area that caters for children of all ages. Their child minders are more than adequate and give you peace of mind that your child is safe while you enjoy an amazing meal.

Whilst the kiddies area is lovely and the lady watching them was great, the more I think about the dissapointing food at high prices the more angry I become!! The snails in creamy garlic sauce were in a thin milky (less than creamy and not so tasty) sauce...and served with NO bread to dip the sauce up with?? We were informed that snails aren't served with bread at this restaurant because they are portugese!? This makes no sence as it is a saucy dish and also, if you go to any other restaurant, portugese or not, you get bread with saucy dishes!! We did however ask for something and then were given some old, hard mini rolls. The mains were ok....the prawns totally overcooked and chewy, the chicken trinchado tasty but really tough and dry chicken with not much sauce at all(maybe a dessert spoon full in total, if that) then the dessert.....we asked if the baklava cheese cake was moist and got a resounding YES from the waiter.....but No, it was actually very dry pastry on top! The rainbow cake looked so appealing to my little one but smelt wrong once we got it....the next morning inspecting the leftovers more closely, it smelt bad and when I looked more clossely was MOULDY already which is really upsetting at R68 for a little slice!! My little one was also given a kiddies menu but no crayons or anything, but we watched all the other children getting packs the whole night (i thought maybe we had to pay for it) , only when we left did ANOTHER waiter offer to give her a pack! If we were paying low amounts for this meal I would say fine but it was an expensive meal and there are honestly MANY better restaurants around at lower prices! We did ask to speak to a manager concerning the snails during the starters, waited 22min before she came to our table. Really very disappointed as we had hoped this would be a place we could take our little one to play regularly, while we relaxed and ate a quality meal, also a place we could suggest to our friends and family with children, but maybe Spur is a better option food wise!

I thought I found myself a hidden Gem in the southern suburbs. Oh, Boy what a disappointment. This was the second time at this place, the first time was bad but this time around was worse. The service is pathetic, slow & waitress take wrong orders. Management expect you to pay for their staff's mistakes. The food is terrible, rubbery calamari & soggy prawns that was served cold.Their fries tastes like they have been re-fried. Honestly, I can't expect a service or the food similar to establishments like Pigalle restaurants or Mozambik in Alberton. I'm very generous with tipping but I left without giving it. Never again. The promise grill will always be my number one in Alberton.

Absolutely love it. The food and service is always tip top. Would highly recommend anyone to go.

Went there for lunch and we really enjoyed it. The kids play area is fantastic and really safe I could leave my son to go and play as there was a child minder who looked after the kids. The food was great and i will definitely go there again.

I popped in yesterday. Everything I ordered was "OK", I've had much better of everything I'd ordered elsewhere before, but the portions were generous, the kids play area was a godsend, the service faultless and the value for money right on the mark. Thank you.

Since Main Street days this place has not lost its touch - great meals, great pricing, lovely atmosphere and awesome for kids to play and they supervised so you can enjoy your meal. We love eating here

Was the first time eating there today. The food isn't quality and it's over priced. I won't be going back. I don't see how this restaurant is still in business. The food is shocking.
