The coffees are always great , the decor super trendy- love the redo. Place always buzzing and a great place to get work done. The food is great too. Service a bit slow however.

Great food. Great music! I'm from Joburg North and great to find this jewel in the South.

Moved to Rock ‘n Sole but more like it’s closed down. Menu quality isn’t the same and vibe is lost. Sorry to see it go... Bad move, very bad move!

Poor service. The manager aggressively confronted us when her waitress got an order wrong and then persisted in blaming us for the mistake made. The manager started shouting at us accusing us of having an attitude. It is clear that Chicago cafe only Caters to their needs and not the customers. When trying to come to a compromise we were made to feel unwelcome.

This was a lovely cafe when it just opened but the standards have really dropped. On my recent visit I ordered a plate of chips which took 30 mins, yet they were not busy. When I eventually received my order, the chips were over fried (they were like rubber). The service was terrible. We had to look for our waitress to ask for the bill.

The coconut cake which used to attract me to this place is no longer on the menu. Hence there is no reason for me to go back!

Excellent outdoor area. Atmosphere is of a true café, great menu and drink choices, with their milkshakes being some of the nicest around. Situated in a prime location surrounded by other restaurants and shops, definitely worth the visit! I will return

I have eaten here more than once out of convenience. The service is shocking. Recently was brought the wrong meal, but i could not flag down a waitress or manager to tell this to. I need to get back to work so i decide to eat it. While eating i am waiting for someone to check on me so i could ask for some tobasco. Suffice to say that didn't happen. Eventually had to get up to pay for my meal.

Don't eat here.

SHOCKING !!!! We went for Breakfast on Saturday 27 May 2017 and because I complained about a broken teapot with a saucer as a lid that my tea was served in ( the Owner, as she introduced herself) was extremely irritated and rude towards us. We politely got up and cancelled our order in a decent manner. The owner then stormed out yelling she will call security and when we told her to do so as we did nothing wrong she then told us " I hope you F...k off and never come back again". We were absolutely shocked and could not believe that a young girl have so little respect for her elderly customers. Needless to say, we told everyone at our church (many regular customers at the coffee shop) as we use to support them often after church for coffee and breakfast. It was our last visit to this coffee shop. We will rather visit the many other lovely coffee shops around our area where the tea is served in a decent pot with a lid with friendly staff to attend to the customers.

Breakfast with the family this morning. Setting is very pleasant and the food is well prepared offering good value. Service was in order too. Definitely a venue to return to for lunch also!

I ordered a chocolate milkshake and got vanilla milkshake with barely any chocolate syrup. It was not what I ordered and was disgusting. I had the Chicago grande breakfast which was okay I guess.. wouldn't really go back there. Waitress needs more training as we waited about 20mins for her to come back to us. Was still gonna order something else but by the time she got back to us I wasn't interested and we just left.
Sorry but not a returning customer =(

Cafe Chicago has so much potential being well located and nicely decorated but thats where it all ends. Ordered cappuccino but got under rated cafe late instead. Meal was way below average with bacon looking like it was boiled. Sadly they did not have salmon in stock, although it was available at the woolies across the road. Summary, make your own breakfast at home

First time at cafe Chicago and I was not disappointed, had a simple bacon and egg toasted sandwich with a side salad. The bread was not soggy or drenched in oil, it was amazing and filling! Will definitely go back to explore more!

You know most of the restarutants have something in common

This one right here is so different yet amazing

The service is great. It's a very good place to start your day at.

Perfect for a good Sunday morning breakfast cheat 😛

Cafe Chicago can be amazing, it has the potential but just not reaching the mark. I have been here a few times and unfortunately every time I am disappointed, the quesadillas are bland and flavourless. Also tried the steak roll with onions, the bread is thick and doughy. Their tramezzinis are thick with sparse fillings.

This is one of the best restaurants l have been to Joburg..The quality of service is high quality, the food is delicious. Above all the prices are very very reasonable. I would encourage everyone to go try out their meals.

My dad took me for a delightful brunch here today . Very bright and welcoming with friendly staff members ushering you in . We had the Fred Astaire breakfast to which I added some bacon and man oh man was it delicious and light , perfect eggs , fresh rocket and sliced avo , juicy halloumi and aniseed rye bread , so delicious!

I come here regularly. I've always enjoyed a combination of a strong good coffee and a tasty filling food.
But this time round, I was disappointed by some weird plate of hallumie cheese and eggs, everything was separate on the plate and didn't make much sense why each was there. The hallumie could have been more as apposed to the massive amount of rocket on the plate, which was unnecessary. Overall, the meal was ok, not great.

Cafe Chicago looks pleasant enough and the menu is very interesting so I was quiet excited to sit down for brunch midway through grocery shopping at the centre where it is located. Unfortunately that was about all it had going and my experience was not good at all. The service was awful. We waited forever to be served. When the waitress finally did arrive it felt like she was doing us a favour by taking our order. The food then took forever to arrive and when it did it was incredibly dissapointing and bland. I won't be going back there in a hurry.

Lovely little coffee shop. The decor is beautiful, modern and fresh. Our service was wonderful. I had a toasted rye & salad, rather large portion and also tried the salami, mozzarella, olive, spinach, jalapeño Tramazinni. The menu was filled with Tasty choices.

I recommend Cafe Chicago to anyone - whether you feel like a slice of cake (best variety and oh so tasty), lunch or a nice cuppa coffee and catch up session. Always a nice vibe, good service and tasty treats.

Such a cozy little café, with so many treats to choose from. I had a scrumptious french breakfast and a delectable cup of chai. I Especially love their decor and that their meals are named after celebrities.

Really like coming here for breakfast. The service and food is consistent and good.
We normally order a custom breakfast which is affordable, it consists of eggs, avo, rye bread, bacon. They have free wifi, dog friendly, generator if there is no power.
We tried their Fred Astaire breakies ... Yum .. And their .. Think it is the Hawaiian burger

Always ask if the rye is from supplier or woolies as the supplier the is much bigger.
Love the fact that they use zapper!!!

A newly found favourite, especially for breakfast. And they're very willing to mix and match menu items. An establishment that I will frequent in the foreseeable future!

Such a super little coffee spot for a delicious breakfast. I loved that all the breakfasts were named after famous actresses and actors. I started the meal off with a Choc Chai Latte which was delish & arrived in a gorgeous glass mug. For a few extra Rands you can add a dollap of marshmallow fluff to the drink. Disappointed I didn't.

I opted for the "Fred Astair" breakfast. Avo, tomato, holoumi cheese, two eggs and two pieces of toast. I had poached eggs and they were done perfectly. The Rye was beautifully toasted and the meal arrived quickly. It was a perfect breakfast and the portion sizes were just right.

My meal was lovely HOWEVER I was rather let down at the end. The shop filled up and my waitress disappeared. We waited 20 minutes for the bill before simply going to the counter where we were left standing for 5 minutes. I asked three times if we could pay.

It left a negative taste on a delicious meal and beautiful spot. I do hope the improve on the service when I go back (which I will because the food was that good).

Great Little café! Met a friend for brunch this morning and I must say I was rather impressed. The food tasted delicious, I had the brie, spinach and poached egg breakfast. Also they have a fabulous spiced thai latte! And prices were reasonable.
The service was a tad slow, but I hardly noticed to be honest with all our chatting. The café was really busy and had a great vibe. I'll definitely be popping past again!

Stopped in for what I thought would be a quick bite to eat - ordered a toasted Ham and Cheese sandwich which took half an hour to arrive!! Absolutely no rush!!!

A little gem in the south, they serve Bean There Coffee which is fantastic on its own but that's just the cherry on top. Their milkshakes and speciality syrup lattes are delicious, if you love Turkish Delight, the Roselito is a must. Oh the Nutella milkshake is also Devine.

They have a wide variety of food at very reasonable prices and the portions are fantastic. I recommend the hotdog or any of the sandwiches.

My only issue is that the macaroons are just meringue not macaroons.

There is also free wifi.

First time. Had a great breakfast. Menu items based on movie star names. Atmosphere a typical cafe feel. Great value for money.

Go ahead and try out their delicious salads and wraps! You won't regret it. Cafe Chicago is tranquil yet buzzy. Went for a Saturday ladies lunch with my mom and sister and we all had the Portuguese style salad. Probably the best tuna and chickpea salad I've had so far!
