Great first time experience, the chouriço was good quality, Peri Peri Sauce and Chili were worth the time. I had the pleasure of indulging in their Churrasqueira Steak and was blown away by the flavors that filled my mouth. Lovely vibe for a Sunday afternoon.

Have been coming to this restaurant for ages, even before they moved to Brackenhurst. The Peri-Peri Chicken, Giblets and Portuguese Steak are all awesome meals.
The wine selection is very good and often the Portuguese/Mozambique Beers are in stock and worth a drink or two.
I recommend this place to any lovers of Portuguese Cuisine.
I arrived late around 9pm and to my surprise they were still operating. Restaurant was very empty and quite an awkward vibe but it doesn't take away from the divine Portuguese food we were served.
Their beef trinchado starter portion is incredibly generous and chicken and prawn combo well worth the price. Service very friendly and their vast selection of cakes and desserts is a major plus!
What a nice place with good food and great service. Tom our waiter was very attentive. The food was exactly as we ordered it. The meat platter for 2 was amazing and OMW the desert choice, I can feel the calories just looking at them. I had a piece of the popcorn cake!!

Came here for their birthday specials! The chicken here is always good, crispy skin but the meat remains tender and juicy! Also had some prawns not quite medium but very tasty! Finished off with a magnum milkshake
The Best Baby Chicken i have tasted in South Africa. Service let them down slightly. Dobrada is fantastic. The Waitron staff are friendly and know the menu in depth. Lovely experience every time i go there

This was my second time visiting this hidden gem. I absolutely love the service, atmosphere and family friendly environment. The food is delicious and well prepared. I'm definitely gonna frequent this place more often.
We had a really great lunch here on a Saturday afternoon.
The restaurant is very spacious and has a fantastic play area outside for kids.
They have a good menu with a ton of options and their dessert menu is something to behold.
I had a portion of their Beef Trinchado for mains along with a custard pastry for dessert. The Trinchado was very tasty and filling but the real star of the show was that delectable custard delight. I was also lucky enough to tuck in to their chocolate cake which is dangerously delicious.
All in all a great spot for lunch with family or friends, and worth a visit if you're looking for a child friendly restaurant with something to offer for everyone.
From starters to dessert, the meals were deliciously tasty. Great flavoured, succulent, peri-peri chicken was the meal of choice. It certainly met the expectations, from the recommendations received. Apart from the table selective host, this was a pleasant dining experience.

Closest that I have come to authentic Portuguese food. The tripe with butter beans was great just right for starters and shared between two people. The main course was pork fillet just love ke my mom makes it. Service is good and well priced. The ambience is a bit clinical too much light.

A lovely family friendly restaurant that offers efficient service and tasty food at reasonable prices. There's a kiddie play area too. I went to A Churrasqueira with my fiance and we had a quiet table in the corner which worked perfectly for us. The staff were super friendly which seems to be rare these days...In terms of food we were pleasantly surprised. To begin with we shared a mussel starter which was adequate for two and was cooked to perfection. I was also glad to see a decent cocktail menu😆 I had 1 kg of prawns as my main and my fiance had the prawn and chicken combo which were both quiet generous and saw us leave with a doggy bag. But not before the dessert cart wheeled around... the chocolate cheesecake was my spoil of choice...All in all a wonderful evening. My only concern being insufficient parking, but we will definitely brave the pavement parking again and be back!
This is a real family place. Would've never found it if I didn't search for nearby restaurants in the South on Zomato. It's a little hidden. It's really accommodative to couples and families with kids - unfortunately Thando and I don't. Service was really good though. The food was cool. I'm just not a fan of round chips. Their beef was better than the chicken though. Prawns are good.
We had a great lunch with friends today there. It's been awhile that we found a restaurant that have a playground for the kids and makes delicious food for the adults.
Will definitely make plans to visit again.
Loving churrasqueira that I am becoming a regular must say the service has improved A lot.. The waiters are excellent! Food is also excellent and the kiddies section triple excellent.... Highly recommended
A Churrasqueira used to be located on Main road in Rosettenville. Eating dinner there required parking your car in a dark side street, trusting a car guard would ward off the drug dealers and navigating past the multitude of prostitutes that hid in the shadows. The food was amazing, but the location was not what it used be back when it first opened. This is coming from someone who went to a nursery school in Rosettenville.
Their new location in Brackendowns is fantastic, as is the food and you will definitely want to check out the dessert cart.
Came for lunch with the fellas, the service was friendly and quick. The giblets were delicious and served within 10 min of ordering. The prego was delicious, the meat was twnder and the roll was fresh. Good Porra chow!

This is a very unassuming and down to earth place.
The food was simple, well cooked and tasted great - good peri peri chicken and lovely chips.
The decor was quite modern, clean and comfortable.

It's been a restaurant my family has been going to for years. Since they were in the south of jhb.
I enjoy my Portuguese food, but I have never gone home dissatisfied from this restaurant. Everything on the menu is impeccable and prepared to perfection. I have my standard order of chicken and prawns but pretty much the entire menu is devine.
The new location is much safer and has a beautiful outside area, although a little far, it is still worth the drive

It was a baptism that we were invited to and the venue was "A Churrasqueira". I heard quiet a few comments about this restaurant and being Portuguese I was certainly very inquisitive. Yes maybe I am a bit harder on Portuguese restaurants as I am a purist when it comes to the cuisine itself. I mean, don't dare bring sushi onto the menu when serving Portuguese and call the restaurant "Portuguese" as Sushi is certainly not Portuguese - or another Portuguese restaurant where I have been to and they had a Portuguese Steak and they used Balsamic Vinegar in the sauce - that chef certainly is in a world of his/her own if Balsamic Vinegar and call it Portuguese Steak... (there goes my blood pressure again LOL!!)
Anyhow back to this restaurant, as I said I heard a few things about this restaurant, unfortunately they were not that complimentary - one thing about me is that I would like to try it for myself before I make a comment.
So the starters were grilled calamari, grilled chourico sausage, chicken liver in an amazing tasty delumptious sauce and a salad. Each of these items were in its own dish, for once they didn't have the circular platter where they give you a measly slice of this and a slice of that, this was a good generous portion of each of these.
For mains there were Portuguese Steak, Grilled King Klip, Prawns and Grilled Chicken on offer - I went for the Portuguese Steak (I asked for medium rare with rice and salads) P ordered Prawns with rice and salads. Well Well Well,,, I am so impressed - the food was really good - the steak was authentically done , the sauce that accompanied it was just so awesome and when mixed with the rice and the egg - it was heaven on a plate - a truly highly recommended dish.
P's prawns was nice and very tasty - the rice that came with it was good - a serious good marriage of flavours.
For Dessert they had a trolley with cakes and an assortment of other dishes on offer, we were just so stuffed and boy an extra kilo or three that we have to shed - but it was well worth it - I would love to come back for a meal. A seriously good place... I hope they maintain the standards.
The service was great, the waiters and waitresses were pleasant and were always at hand to explain the dishes. Nice place.. try it :-)
Generally one of my favourites, but tonight not so much. Waitress was great with bringing what she thought she heard, but not necessarily what was ordered. My salad was yum, packed to the brim in the bowl, but I'm sure the dressing was missing. The boys had a great time at the play area, as usual. Husband really enjoyed his chicken and cheese burger. The chips are good too.
Good lunch today for a family members 60th birthday. Perfect spot for kids and adults. Food today was good, too awhile but was prepared for the wait. All in all quality was good, staff were attentive and welcoming. Good experience
Really amazing service, we did not enjoy the mussle starter, the chef came to enquire what the problem was and redid the dish to our taste. We had the prawn and chicken combo for our mains, the prawns were big and juicy and chicken full of flavour. We will definitely be frequenting A Churrasqueira in the future.
Beautiful and bright spot. The service was quick and the food delicious. The Pregos and chips cost less than 50 bucks and offered up big delicious portions!

Authentic Portuguese cuisine in the South of Johannsburg at an affordable price. Meals are always hearty and delicious. Clean restaurant with a great kiddies play area. The only negative aspect about the whole experience was the rude and unhelpful attitude of the hostess at the front door. You might want to make a reservation if you plan on popping in over the weekend.
I love the new location of this restaurant, it's definitely a step up from the not so lovely area of Rosettenville.
We arrived shortly after they opened for lunch and were seated in the "adult" area (the area away from the children's playground).
The service was friendly and quick, and the food was delicious. I had the chicken trinchado. Yum!

Probably the best chicken I've ever had. For me, this place is up there! That's what I love the most but everything else I've had from these guys is the win. When you compare what you pay for what you get, I don't know if this place can be beat!
Still one of my favourite places for takeaway Portuguese style chicken! Its now close by, quick and easy. Eating there is great too, although if you not eary enough the parking situation is a little bit of a problem.
The food here was great as always. And their service too was good for a busy night. I will definitely come here again. Lovely little restaurant!
A great move from Rosettenville to Alberton. Service is top notch. Had Carne Alentejana. ....good serving and tasty. The prawn curry was good albeit a bit rich. yhe vibe is good but the restaurant could do with air-conditioning. Very hot. A good and off the norm selection to choose from. A must for those looking for mama's Portuguese food.

For a restaurant in Alberton, quite a nice place. Only reservations accepted. It was very busy Friday night and a lot of families. We had the chicken & calamari (normally prawn & chicken), it was very good. Also had the calamari and prawn, the prawns were very good and the calamari without sauce was abit bland (trying to b healthy). The grilled veg comes with a creamy sauce so if ur being healthy mention to remove this. The cappuccino was yummy and a nice selection of deserts!

This is by far my favourite Portuguese restaurant in Jhb... They have all the known favourites plus some of the more traditional meals!
There food is more traditional and authentic than most places and the price is amazing!
Nothing beats prawns and chicken with a bottle of Vinho Verde...
Just be aware of the fact that you will need to park on the street - of a not so great neighbourhood - so rather drive around a few times to get a good visible spot outside the restaurant.

Ok i warn you now this is definitely, and without a doubt going to be the most bias review ever, A CHURRASQUEIRA is like home to me, I've been eating here religiously for ages and i doubt i'm ever going to stop.
This Portuguese restaurant has been in the Rosettenville area all its life, and at the time it was opened this area was a predominantly Pora/Leb area, like a little Portugal, and you still find a couple Portuguese places around here today, but none as prominent as A churrasqueira.
However today the area is more of little Nigeria... booming with people from Angola, Nigeria, Congo, Mozambique and might be a little intimidating at first but once you get used to the taxi's up and down the road and the random guy trying to sell you a belt it's actually not that bad.
Parking is sometimes hard to find, but don't worry if you have to park a little further than you initially wanted, the short walk is worth it.
there is always a car guard outside to make sure your car is safe and to open the door for you. as you walk in you will find a counter used more for take away guests and a quick chat about soccer
to the left is the restaurant, romantically lit and just overall beautiful for that night with your wifeGF, whereas to the right up the stairs is a Bar with a T.V for sports,if you wanna have a meal and a couple drinks with your mates, without having to dress up.
The food is always cooked to perfection, and is always bursting with taste as if the angels above had come down and marinated the food with Holy Spice... if you want to experience Love try their prawns, definitely a contender for the best prawns in Jhb, if you looking for something meaty and wanna know that it feels like to be the GodFather try their Mafia Trinchado ( my personal favourite )... I have to say i've broken up with woman over this chicken, they should've never made me choose.. But I digress, for the last 3 years it has been a Tradition that every Sunday at home means a churrasqeira chicken for dinner. and if you're like me and enjoy really hotspicy but tasty food next time you're there, when they ask you lemon and herb - mild or hot, stand strong and say EXTRA HOT...
I could really go on about this place until Zomato runs out of characters and i cant type anymore, but it all comes down to the fact that A Churrasqeira, is managed well, it was brought up with its old traditions running through its veins, a place to make friends and enjoy the best Portuguese food in jhb and just overall a taste experience of a lifetime.
A Churrasqueira is an oasis of civilization in the little Lagos chaos of Rosettenville. Swallow your fear of the swarm of immigrants, park on the street under the watchful eye of their security guard, and dig in.
This place is a serious contender for the best grilled prawns anywhere. I recommend the prawn and chicken combo, delicious crunchy salads, flambéed chorizo, and oh, the Creme Caramel.
I eat here often. You will too.

We don't live near Alberton at all and it was recommended by friends. We decided to try it since we were coming from Vereeniging.
We were very pleased with the food and the AWESOME service from our waiter. Due to the amount of food we ordered and we wanted it at the same time, he moved us to a bigger table to accommodate that and he brought me an extra takeaway box for some leftover breads that I wanted for my dogs.
As for the food, it was proper authentic Portuguese taste and flavours. For starters, we ordered giblets, clams and tripe. It was so delicious that I was drinking the sauces. For mains, we ordered the crab curry, the espetada and rabbit. It was just as good and they made a yummy white sauce for their vegetables servings (not your typical roasted veggies or butternut/creamed spinach). The beef espetada had a buttery, smoked marinade on it and they cooked to our perfection (medium rare) My husband enjoyed the traditional Portuguese dessert, molotof, I had a dom pedro and my son had the Ola Magnum Almond ice-cream which the waiter put on a plate with a serviette which it was a nice touch.
Overall, a good meal and we will definitely return. The only expensive meal on our bill was the crab curry which is very normal to pay for shellfish.

A lovely lunch with the family. It was our first time there. I must say it was refreshing to have a comfy couch outside to have a smoke at instead of the usual set ups at restaurants where one feels like a leper for smoking. I loved that.
Amazing setting with the convenience of outdoor or indoor tables and seats. Enough to keep kids entertained the entire time and if you dont have kids.. the option is there to just sit on one of the super comfy couches and enjoy the lovely food and assortment of cocktails.
Been in Alberton since 2018 and first time here. What a hidden jewel. Everything is lovely. Food, service, play area, desserts. Pity it only opens at 12h00. Recommend you book to prevent disappointment. We loved it

This is such an awesome restaurant. Absolutely the best for family, friends and groups. Huge play area and extremely spacious. The service was great and the staff is friendly and very welcoming. They have a great menu, affordable and the portions are large and definitely worth it.
I look forward to visiting A Churrasqueira at their new premises in Newmarket Alberton. They have always been a firm favorite with us. Then on Sunday, we arrived to a full house! We were seated in a few minutes, the service was great and the food even better! We're back here again. The food is better than ever. Our favorite restaurant.

New venue but has been going for decades with tried and tested Portuguese menu. New premises very child friendly with many activities and menu reasonably priced. We enjoyed our afternoon here. Owner run service was above average.

The service was out of the world. The staff is very friendly and the place if filled with really nice people. It was my first time and I wouldnt mind going again and again and again. Oh and the food, yum yum.
Lovely food, lovely vibe. It's the first time I've been to this restaurant since they moved. I had the tripe and my husband had the paella. Both dishes were delicious. I highly recommend it. Milo fritos was also yummy, just a tad on the spicy side. I just wish they had more traditional Portugese dishes.
By far one of the best family restaurants around. They have an amazing play area that caters for children of all ages. Their child minders are more than adequate and give you peace of mind that your child is safe while you enjoy an amazing meal.
